What's the weather where you are?

This winter is like last year, no snow and unusually warm for the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Not to much snow in the mountains as well. We are in the southern part of the state near the 4 corners and New Mexico so maybe a major climate change is happening here where conditions are becoming milder. We did have lots of rain last summer so that was very good,

Same here in Stockholm, Sweden

GLOOMY - and it has been that for most of the time for many weeks, combined with a constant snow cover (up to max 31 cm) since 1 January 2026. At times colder than normal temperatures in the city down to -12°C, and in the far out suburbs occationally even down to -20°-24°C. January 2026 turned out colder than normal.

My plants too, show signs of fatigue from the lack of sunshine (as they did back in autumn/winter 2020/21), which was extremely sunshine poor, where several indoor plants died (Luckily, I have now hardier plants).

While I do take lots of Vitamin D3+K2 (IU 20.000) every second say - yet even here, i started to feel unusual heavy at times. Like walking in a slow motion movie, plus a sudden total lack of inspiration in my photography. (buh!!) Even if there have been a few sunnier days - I always work nightshift, going to bed around sunrise - so, there is that 🙄

Here some charts i made
Only 0.88 hours of daily sunshine in the past 30 days. Which is the lowest amount in my statistics from 2019-2025 for the same time period (1 Jan - 13 Feb)

This chart too, shows that January 2026 was a poor month. In the first 13 days of February in the same ballpark. (This could still change, if the end of February gets sunnier ).

So yes. I really welcome some serious warming ;-)

Here in Alicante, south of Spain the weather is strange, completely different from last 20years. We had a cold December and now we have a warm February (supposedlythe coldest month of the year), going up to 23°C the day before yesterday. Outside warmer than inside the house.
We have had more rain than normal but we can't complain, here it's definitely needed.
What's very strange is the wind. Its loud, destructive and scary. We have had a few alert and destruction around like shed, trees falling, walls etc...

Here is the mayor words relating news and advising us to be careful tomorrow:
"Animals shelter has also suffered extensive damage in Catland. There is widespread damage to homes, buildings, and public spaces, including the school wall, numerous solar panels (among them those on the cultural center), fallen trees, signs, walls, etc. The storm is expected to be even stronger on Saturday, so we urge everyone to exercise extreme caution, avoid travel, and secure furniture or anything else that could fall or be blown away. Please be careful."

Keep safe family!

Here's the "atmospheric river" affecting the Iberian peninsula and France. On the other side of the river, my mom is enyoing one of the coldest summers in Costa Rica. I dropped nearly to 12 degrees Celsius in the capital this month. It's cold for Costa Rican standards.

It's a real atmospheric river that will affect us until the end of the week, with a series of disturbances. It originates in the Caribbean, with a significant amount of precipitable water.

We can expect frequent rainfall totals of 100 to 200 mm, particularly in the southwest, west-central, and western Massif Central regions, the east-central region, the western slopes of the Morvan, the western slopes of the Vosges, and western Corsica.

River flooding, overflowing, and localized flooding are to be expected.

On the Balkan Peninsula, we didn’t have a real winter this season. There was a little snow once in December, but it melted within a day or two. Temperatures have stayed above freezing almost the entire time, except for a few days in December when one morning dropped to −10°C.

The main characteristic of this year has been the constant rain since October, with only a day or two of pause here and there. Thankfully, the amount of rainfall has been relatively low despite being continuous, so we haven’t experienced any major flooding problems.
