I see that you are an expert of "and All That" as well ;-)

My work is ehmm well I am a student and I wanted to become a movie director, but it was to much stuff and to expensive so I quit it, now I am in progress of trying to become a teacher.

My other self in the other reality is of course a highly respected scientist :cool2:

I had a 25 year management career in transportation marketing, operations and IT. I was not cut out to be a corporate political type as I thrive on achievement, not power. But, I did give it a go the best I could for those years. That ended due to downsizing, the result of deregulation of the markets.

I performed various jobs to survive over the next 10 years and was unemployed at times.

I then started my own contract IT business, specifically performing programming in SQL and procedural languages on mainframe and UNIX platforms. I worked in all sort of large organizations, medical insurers, financial options trading market, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, bank CC, etc. My specialty was conversion from mainframe environment with sources being mainly flat files to UNIX with relational database sources. That lasted for the next 11 years until I decided to try retirement last year. The programming was by far the most enjoyable work of my career life.

I study. Sometimes is like the work I need to do, so my father takes the money responsabilities, if not I could not be in his home.

But when I get to the university I want to be a movie director. At the begining I wont be the best obviously.

I am since my 18th birthday (now 25 years old) a waiter. I've seen, here are some members also doing their job in this part of the bussines.
It is a very stressfull job (in a psyhic and physic way) and it is very hard to stay calm or to don't let the negative emotions arise when you don't know what to do first because you sometimes feel you need 10 arms to do the work.
And then there is always the kitchen chef. Every chef i had yet was an choleric par exellence!!!
Those kind of human being has always been for me what Castaneda calls an "Petty Tyrant".

I am an undergraduate in biological science, and my field of work is biochemistry.
The graduation is about to finish soon, and Im thinking in pursuing another degree along with the master's degree in biochemistry.
Im thinking in psychology, but still undecided because of the many schools of thought within psychology. Im partial to the "descendents" of Carl Jung and Wilhelm Reich.

Edit: After I saw Gonzo's post I want to share that I also worked as a musician.

Interesting thread! Looks like I came to it kind of late. I'll add my occupation for the record.

Integration analyst in health care informatics. Prior to that I've done various odd jobs in software development, web development and some sys admin type stuff.

Very old thread here, but I figured I would post anyway

yeah 3 years ago :lol: but I think we can post too.

I work in a little company in Logistics-International Trade- export and import.

:thup:

Presently unemployed due to being one of more than 1000 people recently dumped onto the employment line due to factory closings in my little town. I am self-taught in computers: from building them to troubleshooting them - from diagnosing BIOS beep codes in malfunctioning pc's to networking them with/without a server and installing/configuring/troubleshooting/decontaminating a Windows or Linux Operating System. Recently rounded out my education with a tech diploma in Computer Information Systems - Networking Specialist. However, as I can't afford the A+ Certification right now, I'm having a hard time getting a foot in somebody's door. Can't pack up and move as my wife and I are primary caretakers of my disabled parents.

Other than that, the job I've enjoyed the most and have been the most successful at has been as a cook. Probably because I've been doing it since I was about 16 years old.

Wasn't wanting this post to look like some kind of resume, it just seems to be what I'm in the habit of doing lately. :D

When this thread was created, I have to admit I cringed a bit. I try to avoid revealing too much about my true identity for several reasons, the least of which is that I could lose my job and possibly my security clearance.

I have been a civil servant for the last five years, providing advice to internal clients on the use of internet and new media vehicles for strategic communication.

Before that I was:
- a freelance journalist and communications consultant;
- IT business analyst, network administrator, solutions developer, inadequate programmer:
- the owner/operator of a small Internet Service Provider (ISP) specializing in web and domain hosting;
- a commercial print salesman, selling custom designed business forms (invoices, cheques, statements, letterhead, etc.) and developing novel solutions with pressure sensitive label products;
- a shoemaker and manger of two while-you-wait shoe repairs in area shopping malls;
- an apprentice dry cleaner;
- an owner of a staging company providing custom stage, scenery, sound and lighting services to the entertainment sector;
- sound and lighting technician and set designer:
- semi-pro musician, singer/songwriter

I may yet return to performing music - of all the things I've done, it seemed the most natural and easy for me to be passionate about. Life just got in the way and I didn't know how to support myself with my music - not many people seemed interested in hearing original music and I didn't always enjoy playing other people's more popular music.

Now that I'm older and so much wiser, I have no problem finding pleasure playing cover tunes and can actually get a thrill from it.

Great thread.

Hmmmm.... no lawyers so far.

I Lead a team of 11 in a retail environment focused on natural health; vitamins, herbs, homeopathics etc., natural body and face care, ecologically sustainable gifty items and such.

After 11 years of this, I'm pretty burnt out. But I am not really qualified for anything else... so this is it.

Ummm... half a lawyer here....
Desperately want to leave the profession....
Moving onwards to be a Hypnotherapist and trainer! :clap: :clap:
