I found this article amusing and to the point:
TV networks urge US to hurry up and invade Iran
NEW YORK. As tensions continue to rise between Iran and the West, the media has urged the United States and its allies to 'get on with it already,' saying they are desperate for a proper war to help boost their ratings.
A spokesperson for CNN, Jarvis Cheeseman said the major networks deserved more from the government than peace talks and rhetoric.
"We shouldn't have to wait five years for another war to roll around," said Cheeseman. "We're in the business of entertaining people."
Cheeseman said there was nothing Western viewers liked more than watching the might of the US army bomb the crap out of poor brown people in a country thousands of miles away.
"As long as we win and as long as it isn't too close to home, they will watch it all day," he said.
When it was pointed out to him that America had in fact lost wars in Vietnam and Kuwait, while barely holding its own in the war on terror, Cheeseman said it didn't matter.
"At the end of the day it isn't about winning, it's about taking part," he said. "That's what makes for good television."
Cheeseman said as long as the war lasted for long enough and provided enough close-up footage of missile strikes and crying Iranian mothers, that the networks would be happy.
"We don't want something like the Six Day War again," he said, citing the 1967 ratings disaster fiasco when Israel fought Syria, Egypt and Jordan.
Cheeseman said the networks were all optimistic they would get their war before the end of the year.
"It's the least the government can do for us," he said. "We are selling it to Obama as a bail out package for the media industry."
Cheeseman would neither confirm nor deny rumours that his network had been pitching conflict sponsorship packages to scruple-less corporates.
"But it is a good idea," he said. "Tonight's 9pm Tehran bombing is brought to you by Nestle, that kind of thing."
