WHO urges smoking ban

I live in a part of Oregon that is clamping down on public and indoor smoking. This article has hit a nerve with me. I also live in a part of Oregon that is the "grass seed capital". Every Autumn we find the farmers doing the yearly field burning, and for weeks we are stuck breathing the foul hazy air. I suppose it must be that the field burning haze contains no nicotine, which must make it safe for hundreds and thousands of people to breathe?

Talk about second hand smoke!!!

Hi Tarri! Been awhile since I have seen you again!

About your post, I fail to see what you are trying to say when you are seemingly tying
in 'field burning' with that of second-hand smoke or smoke in general? Are you saying
that you are against smoke, smoking, second-hand-smoke, field burning, some combination
thereof or all four?

I think Tarri is simply pointing out the ridiculous situation in which a city outlaws cigarrette smoke, yet allows local farmers to burn fields which drown the populace in smoke for days - having no choice at all whether they breathe in all that smoke or not - they're surrounded by it; they have to breathe it.

It's like banning hand guns but allowing personal ownership of tanks.

So much for my sarcastic humor. Oh well.

Yes, I think it is ridiculous that they say cig smoke is killing people with all the other crap in the air we are forced to breath. And no, I'm not against smoking, I smoke the American Spirit brand. Quite enjoy it actually.

But truly, when they field burn, it smells like a murdered forest.

Worked all night, and now am going to get off this forum........ truly I am...Honest.
