An airforce engineer I met said that the opposite of what sounds logical is true: He said if it was determined that Iran DID have nuclear capability then there is no way it would be attacked - because of the retaliation. If on the other hand Iran did not yet have a nuclear capability then they would go in like a shot knowing the retaliation would be far less. I don't know if there is any truth to this and is this simply speculation.
 
Yes I agree, Israel would not want to take the chance of confronting an Iranian regime armed with nuclear weapons the same way the MAD principle kept the USSR and the USA from direct confrontation.

By the way if Germany hadn't been dumb enough to force Einstein to leave the country it very well could have had the bomb first and the history books might read very differently today. No one will attack a country that is nuclear armed, that is why Iran wants the bomb so badly, for protection of sorts.
