The Living Force
I have always gone to CNN and BBC to see what's happening in the world. Recently I found this site: www(dot)worldnews.com

I find their articles a little less bias than the other two. There's even a link that says "Conspiracy Globe" :)

Does anyone know who owns or runs this site?

Hi Erna, it's all about advertising, or so it looks to me. Reading their 'mission statement', the quest for objective newsgathering comes second (and most probably even later):

WN Network ranks as one of the top sites for World News on the Internet, reaching around 12 million unique web users in the average month. WN continues to rapidly expand its user-base, with an increase in users from 30 million in 2000 to more than 150 million in 2003. The bulk of this traffic is generated by WN.com and worldnews.com - which account for approximately 30% of Network users. WN traffic naturally spikes when important breaking news occurs.

Our users represent a highly attractive demographic: affluent, professional and well educated with enormous buying power. (...) The wide scope of WN offers advertisers a unique opportunity to domain target their audience worldwide; by region, country, city, industry or language. This guarantees that an advertiser's message is successfully delivered to the right audience - wherever they may be.

Erna, Another reasonably good news source is GoogleNews at
http:(2slsh)news(dot)google.com/news?ned=tus&rec=0
As well as what is referred to as the MSM, there are other news articles from sources around the world, including even the occasional blog.

Actually, it is a bit of a stretch to call GoogleNews a 'good news source' - it does comb the web for news stories from many different main stream media sources, but the problem is that they are MAIN STREAM media sources - thus it is much more often than not, not 'objective' news - just more of the same from the controlled media. I'm not saying that there is no value to this information, but it might be wise to remember that they publish only what their controllers want the readers to read.

Thanks Petey of Lone Tree! I'll have a look.

Anart, you are quite right, but I think looking for an 'objective' news source would be 'mission impossible'... I guess for the time being we have to do with what we've got...

There's always the Signs to fill in the gaps...and read between the lines :)

Hello avrilcory, and welcome to the forum. :)

It is customary when joining to make an introduction, which can be made here, in the newbies section. Also, just so you know, if not already, this Forums founder and others run www.Sott.net which is also a news service featuring a very wide worldview. Sott.net also carries "official" news that has been critiqued. Hope you check it out, as some may check out this "world news site" described in the thread.
