Smash Mouth - Walkin' On The Sun

It ain't no joke
I'd like to buy the world a toke
And teach the world to sing in perfect harmony
And teach the world to snuff the fires and the liars
Hey I know it's just a song but it's spice for the recipe
This is a love attack
I know it went out but it's back
It's just like any fad retracts before impact
And just like fashion it's a passion for the with it and hip
If ya got the goods, they'll come and buy it just to stay in the clique

So don't delay, act now, supplies are running out
Allow, if you're still alive, six to eight years to arrive
And if you follow, there may be a tomorrow
But if the offer is shun you might as well be walkin' on the sun

Twenty-five years ago, they spoke out and they broke out
Of depression and oppression and together they toked
And they folked out with guitars around a bon fire
Just singin' and clappin', man what the hell happened
Some were spell-bound, some were hell-bound
Some they fell down and some got back up
And fought against the melt-down
And their kids were hippie chicks, and hypocrites
Because fashion is smashin' the true meaning of it

So don't delay, act now, supplies are running out
Allow, if you're still alive, six to eight years to arrive
And if you follow, there may be a tomorrow
But if the offer is shun you might as well be walkin' on the sun

It ain't no joke when Mama's handkerchief is soaked
With her tears because her baby's life has been revoked
The bond is broke up so choke up and focus on the close up
Mr. Wizard can't perform no God-like hocus pocus
So don't sit back, kick back, and watch the world get bushwhacked

News at ten o'clock your neighborhood is under attack
Put away the crack before the crack puts you away
You need to be there when your babies are old enough to relate

So don't delay, act now, supplies are running out
Allow, if you're still alive, six to eight years to arrive
And if you follow, there may be a tomorrow
But if the offer is shun you might as well be walkin' on the sun
Might as well be walkin' on the sun
Might as well be walkin' on the sun
You might as well be walkin' on the sun
Might as well be walkin' on the sun
This is also the first album I ever bought.

Wide Awake – Tuck and Patty

There was a time
In my life
When I thought
My only choice was to run away
From so much hatred,
Oh, it seems sometimes
That the killing will never end

Oh, I was afraid
I could not see the end inside
And so I did
What many others often do
I took all my feelings
And I put them all to sleep
Until I could not feel any more pain

But you cannot change a thing
If you cannot feel your heart
And so I prayed for strength
To help me face my fears
Oh I remember the day
And although it hurt me deep
I was happy for my tears
For remember, I was wide awake
Ready to take my place
In a war that’s going on
For hearts and minds

Oh I am wide awake
And I won’t hesitate
To stand and tell the truth
To save a life

So many suffer and cry
While too many of us
Turn our heads and hide
Oh, for lack of our love
Today ten thousand children
closed their eyes and died

Uhhh It’s hard to take
We cannot face this madness
And so we go back to the place
Where we feel safe
Oh, we take all our feelings
And put them all to sleep
Until we cannot feel any more pain
But don’t you be afraid ‘cause
Wide awake there will be many
Others who will join you on your way
Oh, and there is so much beauty
You just have to open up your eyes
Wide awake sometimes your heart will break
When you hear another anguished cry
But, oh in the middle of the sorrow,
You have got to realise
I you cannot look, then you cannot change
Open up your eyes,
Don’t be afraid
I’m right beside you
I’m here beside you
I’ll never leave you lonely, you know
I keep my head up
And my heart wide open
I’m here to tell you it’s worth anything you feel
Don’t go to sleep
Don’t slumber
Wake up
We’re depending on you

I am wide awake,
Ready to take my place
I am wide awake,
ready to take my place
You’ll be wide awake,
Ready to take your place
We’re wide awake,
Ready to take our place
I’m thankful
And I’m so grateful
That I’m wide, wide awake.

Anytime I have something stuck in my head that I want gone I just tune into a song from Jet Grind Radio called Magical Girl. The guitar riff, really gets me. Wish I had a track sin the vocal bits.... ::shrugs:: here's a youtube: _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYlcMlgbeL4

As for a theme, Linkin Park's What I've Done, off the transformers soundtrack, definitely fits.

On youtube:

Lyrics:

In this farewell
There’s no blood
There’s no alibi
‘Cause I’ve drawn regret
From the truth
Of a thousand lies

So let mercy come
And wash away
What I’ve done

I'll face myself
To cross out what i’ve become
Erase myself
And let go of what i’ve done

Put to rest
What you thought of me
While I clean this slate
With the hands of uncertainty

So let mercy come
And wash away
What I’ve done

I'll face myself
To cross out what i’ve become
Erase myself
And let go of what i’ve done

For what I’ve done
I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I’m forgiving what I’ve done

I'll face myself
To cross out what i’ve become
Erase myself
And let go of what i’ve done

What I’ve done
Forgiving what I’ve done

For the moment this is my song, but they're on a rotation lol, it's what it must feel like trying to pick your favorite child

PORTISHEAD "Cowboys"

Did you sweep us far from your feet
Reset in stone this stark belief
Salted eyes and a sordid dye
Too many years

But don't despair this day, will be their damnedest day
Ooh, if you take these things from me

Did you feed us tales of deceit
Conceal the tongues who need to speak
Subtle lies and a soiled coin
The truth is sold, the deal is done

But don't despair this day, will be their damnedest day
Ooh, if you take these things from me

[INSTRUMENTAL]

Undefied, no signs of regret
Your swollen pride assumes respect
Talons fly as a last disguise
But no return, the time has come

So don't despair this day, will be their damnedest day
Ooh, if you take these things from me
Ooh, if you take these things from me

Shine (Acoustic) - Muse

Who cares for the life we've earned?
Someone's sold all the truth you've earned.
Remember when we used to shine
And had no fear or sense of time
When it creeps up on you

You can't cry now - there's nothing to feel.
No one's noticed our loneliness.
Remember when you used to tease
And made us scream eternal joy.

I believed that you'd always be here
'Cause once you promised a life with no fear.
Please don't break my ideals
And say what's fake was always real.

Hope was the one, now I know.
Take me back again.
Can't get enough of this one - such a beautiful melody.

Coldplay- Talk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_N9rH2x5KUw)

Oh brother I can't, I can't get through
I’ve been trying hard to reach you 'cause I don’t know what to do
Oh brother I can't believe it's true
I’m so scared about the future and I wanna talk to you
Oh I wanna talk to you

You can take a picture of something you see
In the future where will I be?
You can climb a ladder up to the sun
Or a write a song nobody has sung
Or do something that's never been done

Are you lost or incomplete?
Do you feel like a puzzle, you can't find your missing piece?
Tell me how do you feel?

Well I feel like they're talking in a language I don't speak
And they're talking it to me

So you take a picture of something you see
In the future where will I be?
You can climb a ladder up to the sun
Or write a song nobody has sung
Or do something that's never been done
Or do something that's never been done

So you don't know where you're going and you wanna talk
And you feel like you're going where you've been before
You tell anyone who'll listen but you feel ignored
Nothing's really making any sense at all, let's talk
Let's talk, let's talk, let's talk.

How far we've come - Matchbox 20

_http://www.cybercityzero.com/muzak/45.MP3

[edit: corrected link and title of song (was Superman)]

I'm waking up at the start of the end of the world,
but its feeling just like every other morning before,
Now I wonder what my life is going to mean if it's gone,

The cars are moving like a half a mile an hour if that,
and started staring at the passengers who're waving goodbye
can you tell me what was ever really special about me all this time?

chorus:
But I believe the world is burning to the ground
oh well I guess we're gonna find out
let's see how far we've come
let's see how far we've come
Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end
oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend,
let's see how far we've come
let's see how far we've come

I think it turned ten o'clock but I don't really know
then I can't remember caring for an hour or so
started crying and I couldn't stop myself
I started running but there's no where to run to
I sat down on the street, took a look at myself
said where you going man you know the world is headed for hell
say all goodbyes if you've got someone you can say goodbye to

I believe the world is burning to the ground
oh well I guess we're gonna find out
let's see how far we've come (right now)
let's see how far we've come
Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end
oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend,
let's see how far we've come
let's see how far we've come

Its gone gone baby its all gone
there is no one on the corner and there's no one at home
well it was cool cool, it was just all cool
now it's over for me and it's over for you
well its gone gone baby its all gone
there's no one on the corner and there's no one at home
well it was cool cool, it was just all cool
now it's over for me and it's over for you

I believe the world is burning to the ground
oh well I guess we're gonna find out
let's see how far we've come
let's see how far we've come
Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end
oh well, i guess, we're gonna pretend,
let's see how far we've come, again
let's see how far we go
let's see how far we've come
let's see how far we go
let's see how far we've come
let's see how far we go
let's see how far we've come
let's see how far we go
let's see how far we've come

WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSE

The flea sits on the eagle
The lion is on the floor
And over there
There's the bear
Ready and a willing for a kicking in the door

Welcome to the universe
Take your partner for the biggest show in town
Welcome to the universe
Better hurry 'cos there isn't too much time
Before the stars fall down
Welcome to the universe

The bear look over its shoulder
The monkey's on its back
Look out
Wolves about
The whole damn thing is just going to the pack

Welcome to the universe
Take your partner for the biggest show in town
Welcome to the universe
Better hurry 'cos there isn't too much time
To see the stars fall down
And the sun going out
And the world catch fire
And the mountains shaking all about
Welcome - everyone
Welcome - watch the fun
Welcome to the universe

"Roll up, roll up, get you tickets..."

Stars fell down
Sun's gone out
World's on fire
Sing and shout

"We don't seem to know what's happening here folks, it could be all over"

Welcome to the universe
Did you like it at the biggest show in town
Welcome to the universe
Save your money for a second time around
A second time around
To see the stars fall down
And the sun going out
And the world's on fire
And the mountains shaking all about
Welcome - everyone
Welcome - come on join the fun
Welcome - you know that you are
Welcome - everybody's
Welcome to the universe

Welcome to the universe
It's so sad you're on your own
You see everybody's gone
Welcome to the universe
Welcome to the universe

TOOL - 46&2

My shadow's
Shedding skin and
I've been picking
Scabs again.
I'm down
Digging through
My old muscles
Looking for a clue.

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own confused
And insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in.
I wanna feel the changes coming down.
I wanna know what I've been hiding in

My shadow.
Change is coming through my shadow.
My shadow's shedding skin
I've been picking
My scabs again.

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic
And insecure delusions.

I wanna feel the change consume me,
Feel the outside turning in.
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
Cleansing I've endured within

My shadow
Change is coming.
Now is my time.
Listen to my muscle memory.
Contemplate what I've been clinging to.
Forty-six and two ahead of me.

I choose to live and to
Grow, take and give and to
Move, learn and love and to
Cry, kill and die and to
Be paranoid and to
Lie, hate and fear and to
Do what it takes to move through.

I choose to live and to
Lie, kill and give and to
Die, learn and love and to
Do what it takes to step through.

See my shadow changing,
Stretching up and over me.
Soften this old armor.
Hoping I can clear the way
By stepping through my shadow,
Coming out the other side.
Step into the shadow.
Forty six and two are just ahead of me.

While i read some of the forums about sound waves and harps and since i love medieval music i searched the YouTube and found this _http://youtube.com/watch?v=hjAHUkIfK24 i can`t recognize the language but...see for yourselves

I wrote her this in youtube as a personal message
I said:
Please Yasmeen, reveal the secret of this song here on YouTube - its language, why is it so sad, what is it about, how do you find inspiration to sing with all of your heart?
And her answer was a little bit odd:
Yasmeen said:
I will have the cd out very soon if you want a copy.
As to your questions they are very good questions and very true questions. But I cannot answer them, I am sorry to have dissapointed everyone about this, please forgive me. I cannot say anything but that i feel very just nothing, a vehicle a vessel, nothing at all really.........like in a deep and impossible dream, that has no pictures....
So where does such an inspiration come from and why does she feel like that i can not answer..

Don't know about a particular favourite song, but the version of the "Lord's" prayer on Pink Floyd's track Sheep from the album Animals is pretty hard to beat. Funny, I resisted the band for years, thinking they were prog-rock tripe. Who put the ass in assumption?
