The Situation In Germany

I am very sorry
that I made two blunders today at the forum :-[

In a way however, the flipped "Z", in reality an "N" for a brand (i was not familiar with), still has a funny/ironic symbolism, in particularly on Zelensky's feet. But then that guy is all about blunders and frogs all day long, every day, for years ;-D

Berlin's governing mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) complains that the city is being overwhelmed by the high number of refugees.

"However, the city-states in particular, and especially Berlin as the main point of attraction, have now almost exhausted our capacities," Giffey told the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. For example, she said, 340,000 Ukrainians have received admission in Berlin, and 100,000 now reside in the capital. "We urgently need more real estate from the federal government to accommodate people well, financial support for the immense costs and a fair distribution in the federal territory," Giffey continued.

"The accommodation options are limited," Gerd Landsberg, chief executive of the German Association of Cities also warned in the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. "Hotel rooms are already being rented and collective accommodation, for example in sports halls, is being prepared." Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer also demanded, "The federal government must finally support the financing of accommodation. The municipalities are at their limits, without the promised support they will soon no longer be able to function. According to the newspaper's information, the Federal Police currently detects around 400 unauthorized entries every day at all German borders, with a focus on the German-Czech and German-Austrian borders.

482 year old Christ Cross removed from G7 Meeting in Münster, Germany
by (Green Party) Foreign Minister Baerbock

Another "Signs of our Times" event, reflecting symbolically the removals of the divine from human affairs and politics... Or other words; Mindlessness of our times we now openly live in.

GODLESS G7 IN MÜNSTER
Foreign Office has cross removed

The 482-year-old Council Cross in the Peace Hall of the Historic Town Hall in Münster - it has now been removed from the hall for the duration of the G7 Summit

G7 Summit in Münster: The foreign ministers of the world's most important countries are there - but the Christians' symbol of God has to stay outside. Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (41, Greens) has had the centuries-old crucifix (depiction of Jesus nailed to the cross) removed from the Peace Hall in the Historic Town Hall in Münster for the duration of the G7 Summit.

The G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting will take place in Münster's historic Peace Hall: This was the scene of the invocation of the Spanish-Dutch Peace in 1648 - part of the Peace of Westphalia. But for the duration of the meeting, Baerbock is blocking out an important part of history: the 482-year-old Council Cross.

Actually, it is part of the permanent inventory of the hall, but at Baerbock's request it has now been taken down, as the " Westfälische Nachrichten" first reported. The city of Münster confirmed a corresponding request by the newspaper.

What do the Greens have against Christian symbols? Just two days ago, Claudia Roth (67), the Green Party's commissioner for cultural affairs, caused outrage when she wanted to have biblical quotations on the dome of the Berlin City Palace removed and overwritten with other texts. Quotations from the Holy Scriptures were not "cosmopolitan" enough, was her bizarre ulterior motive ...

The Foreign Office informed BILD: "The cross was removed for reasons of protocol".

Later, at the government press conference on Friday, a spokesperson stressed that there had been a number of changes in the room, including the furniture, in the run-up to the foreign ministers' meeting. This was "usual for such meetings". In this context, "this cross there" had indeed been removed. Baerbock herself, however, had not been involved with this question, there had been "no decision on the political level".
The fact is, however, that such a request to remove the council cross had never been made to the city before, according to a statement made to the "Westfälische Nachrichten" by the Münster administration.

The cross dates back to 1540, and to this day all new councillors in Münster are sworn in before it - unless they explicitly renounce the addition "So help me God".

Such supplies may come in handy if there are power cuts, the Civil Protection Agency head says

German residents should prepare for short-term power outages this winter, Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK) head Ralph Tiesler has warned in an interview with the news outlet Welt am Sonntag.

We have to assume that there will be blackouts this winter. By that, I mean a regional and temporary interruption in the power supply. The cause will not only be energy shortages, but also the targeted, temporary shutdown of the networks by the operators, with the aim of protecting the networks and not endangering the overall supply,” Tiesler stated. He noted that the risk of blackouts will be higher in January and February.

According to the official, the local authorities in many German municipalities are prepared for the possibility of blackouts, having developed precise plans and procured emergency generators to ensure the power supply. However, some municipalities are in a much worse position, he added.

We expect short-term blackouts rather than long-lasting, large-scale blackouts. But good preparation is important for that, too,” he stressed.

Tiesler advised residents and officials alike to prepare for such events, mainly by stocking up on supplies.

Primarily water, several crates, and canned food. That would be enough for ten days. That's what my agency recommends… Our message is: prepare in the first place. Be prepared for possible crises, don't assume that everything will be readily available all the time,” he stated, adding that in addition to food and water for several days, residents should purchase battery-powered radios and candles.

Tiesler noted that his agency has a list of suggestions for residents to prepare for emergency situations such as blackouts on its official website.

Germany is facing the prospect of blackouts due to the drop in gas supplies from Russia. While it initially wanted to decouple its economy from Russian gas gradually, the flow from Russia was curbed much earlier than planned due to Ukraine-related sanctions and the explosions in September that rendered inoperable the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, a key route for Russian gas to reach Europe.

Despite gas storage facilities in the country being nearly full, experts are still concerned that this stockpile might not be enough to last the country through the winter.

Baerbock talking about climate change:

"...but also, what are the consequences for my neighboring country, or a country that is hundreds of thousands of kilometers away?"

This guy makes sense of it:

"Climate change is causing the earth to inflate and distances to increase.
More and more countries are now hundreds of thousands of kilometers away.
We must not give space to right-wing distance deniers."

🤡
