yeah, they have floated this around for quite some time, I think Mercosur and Unasur were born out of similar initiatives to reintegrate the region. Even the hispanophiles have proposed going back to the viceroyalties interrogation of the Spanish crown. So, it's not a bad idea, and it certainly isn't revolutionary. I think Chavez spoke about this once before himself.
Also, from the WH they've made claims that the current government in Venezuela has been fully cooperative in Washington's deigns for the country. What I keep thinking as this whole thing unravels is... not one week and a half ago, we were all over the dangerous narcoterrorists killing children in the US as the main thrust for the aggression in the Caribbean.. now it's drill baby drill, screw the cartels, and the American children.. let's get some oil babeeey!

While the US was justifying it's aggression with attempting to curb the access of addicted kids to their drug of choice, what was actually taking place was the US justifying to itself, as a junkie would, violently stealing access to its drug of choice, not oil (although yes).. but the act of robbery and control itself.

The state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) began reopening wells that had been closed during the US blockade, allowing crude exports to resume this week.
At least two supertankers sailed from Venezuela on Monday with about 1.8 million barrels each, which could represent the first shipments of a supply agreement of up to 50 million barrels between Caracas and Washington, designed to free up exports that had been blocked since December, according to sources cited by Reuters.
The ships were heading north, heading for the Caribbean, where many oil companies lease storage tanks before transporting the crude to its final destination.
