 Does anyone know where I can buy a copy of Laura's book Amazing Grace? I have tried 3 times and each time I have purchased it secondhand on the internet it never arrives!

Its hard to believe but its almost like I'm not meant to have s copy which, omly makes me more determined to get one. Any thoughts?

So far, Amazing Grace is out of print.

See that post

Speaking of which, I've decided to put Amazing Grace back on the web just so people can have a sort of "insider's" view of this kind of nonsense AFTER the insider is out.

I've got the text formatted for the web and currently am going through my photographs so that I can include a selection of images that I think people will enjoy. I'll also be editing and adding some footnotes.

Sounds good. As I said Three times I have ordered it secondhand and three times I have had to be refunded because it hasn't arrived.

Obviously powerful stuff!!!

Look forward to reading.

Namaste

Just to update on this. I did buy a copy secondhand which eventually arrived. Fourth time lucky!!

I got it from one of the online book sellers, but I did have to trawl around a bit before I found one I could afford.

Its great by the way, of course.

Hope you find one or wait until it comes online.

Yes, many thanks! I've been wanting to read this book for a long time. I already took a peek, and it has lots of photos, I love it! It really is nice when you can see faces, somehow it gives whatever you're reading a different depth.

Will chapters be gradually posted as they're edited?

As some of you might have already noticed, Amazing Grace is being published at cassiopaea.org right now. That's fantastic. I don't know if there is another thread announcing this.

My question is: Are there significant changes in comparison to the old book version, except the many photographs? Or is it more or less the same content but a bit updated?

Not much in the way of changes except that I'm able to format better than the printed book was and I'm including a ton of images which it was too expensive to include in the book. I'm making a few VERY SMALL editorial changes in view of the fact that my mother was living when I wrote it and she is passed on now. Where I would say "my mother is..." I'm changing that sort of thing to "my mother was..." I may also add some info that was unknown to me then, but we'll have to wait and see as I go through the text. I'm trying to do a chapter every day or every two days, but it is labor intensive for including the images.

Laura, thank you so much. I don't think I have ever experienced so much emotion as I have from reading these chapters. The description of your father Jack brought on a feeling of genuine compassion for him, and your mother as well. I can understand how, at such a young age, losing her mother in such a violent manner would affect her behaviour and attitude throughout her life.
And your experience with the face at the window, and how you weave it into the larger narrative of your family lineage is indescribable.
Such an open and generous heart you have to share this with us.
Your compassion and love for your fellow human beings is so obvious in your down-to-earth writing style.
I can't wait to read more.
PS: I hope you're publishing a hard copy. Maybe I'm overreaching, but imho, it has the potential to be a best-seller.

Thank you so much for sharing Laura, :flowers:

I really loved Amazing Grace, it would be an amazing book even if it was just fiction.
I lend it to someone who left the country (with it) so I'll really enjoy re-reading it!

Oh, great!!! I never got to read it (when I think it used to be online before I found the cass sites in November 2004, right?). And then it was out of print. So I'll be heading over to read it shortly. :) Thanks so much for putting it back online, Laura!
