Americans are not stupid

Hi Corto,

It is always appreciated when you tell the members of this forum why they should watch that video or when you tell them what the video is about in a couple of sentences.

I have watched it and I just can not believe this video is not a fake. Nobody got a good answer, or maybe there were ET disguised in human.

It is totally unbelievable. :jawdrop:

I have seen this video before, quite a old one actually but always a good laugh. People (or USA residents in this case) are not expected to know everything but should make at least make an effort to learn more about the world around them.

I have to say that this video is pretty accurate from my experience. Most people I know in the US do not care much for the news and know very little about anything outside of the US. I am always surprised when foreigners talk about the US and our issues all the time because people here never talk about foreign countries at all except for maybe Iraq or Afghanistan. I doubt that most people know any foreign leaders or any current events from around the world. They are most interested in tv shows, sports, sex and drugs. I think that the most news most people watch is maybe a few minutes of cnn or fox news when they are out or flipping through channels. There is just so much pressure here to be lazy, indulge and not care about the world. And sadly, most succumb to this pressure.

Masamune...dude...I hate to say it but that comment is pretty dead on. Americans care more about a stupid football game than they do about the fact that tap water is lowering their IQ. (the fluoride that is)

We care more about how food tastes instead of whether it is healthy or not. We know nothing about foreign countries, most talk about the middle east is IGNORANT BABBLE. I had to emphasize because that's all i've witnessed.
We sit at home and watch t.v., no one reads unless they have to.

Many US citizens live in some sort of god@#$% fantasy land that america is exactly what it was 20 years ago, and 30 years ago. They believe their leaders will lead them, even though they may talk badly about them. The average teenager has but one simple mission on a weekend: find alcohol, get laid, waste time with your buddies. It's really sad and pathetic what some people's lives have been reduced to. Not that mine is so great.

Mind expansion is almost taboo, just look at our pop culture bull$#@!. I'm not exactly proud to live here.
sorry if i'm just making noise...had to let that out. :)

Heck, I don't even think this is an exaggeration...and it is nothing new to me.

Many years ago, I was stationed in Germany. I considered myself fairly well read and aware compared to many of my American fellows. But, when I played a game of Trivial Pursuit with some German friends, I was so embarrassed that they knew more about my own country than I did!

So many times I have seen blank stares when trying to converse with people here about things that I think should be common knowledge. I continue to attempt conversations with people because there are a few here who do read and think and I so enjoy encountering them that I am willing to keep trying.

Q: (J) How many troops have actually been killed since the beginning of the Iraq war?

A: 7,500

Q: (H) What percentage of the US population actually supports Bush?

A: 36%

Q: (H) What percentage of the US population thinks there was complicity on the part of the US government in 9/11?

A: 47%

Q: (H) What percentage of the US population actually thinks at all?

A: 12% if you define it rigidly.
Q: (group amazement at this figure)

A: What do you expect with HAARP turning brains to tapioca

Q: (J) So it's a Zombie nation then?

A: You took the words right out of 6th density.

Q: (J) so does HAARP only affect the US population?

A: Mostly.

I'm pretty sure this number has changed since the question was asked, but staggering statistic! :scared:

Of course, when they make those videos, they usually approach "promising" people and afterwords select the funniest and dumbest responses.

Still, it is sobering to realize that there's a lot of people walking around who are exactly as pictured or possibly even worse :scared:

There are similar highly embarrassing videos and polls made in my home country (Russia) :O, too.

It was in the title daaah :)
I am aware of this etiquette , I just didn't think it applies on Tickle me Forum.
Don't forget insisting on this here can spoil the joke .

No this is not exaggeration, the other day my internet order from US supplier was canceled because they thought Malta was the island in South Pacific.
Isn't it moronic? And you cannot even be angry at them, you kind of feel sorry :(

:jawdrop:

I'm pretty sure though that we'd have stupid answers as well if we did it in France. Well maybe, not that dumb (or so I hope :/). There's probably the frequency fence playing too in the US, on top of standard ignorance.

Well I guess there are stupid and ignorant people everywhere. I think Americans stand up just because it seems "zombiefication" of the nation was done systematically and with great success by PTB over past 50 years

Sounds about on a par with a certain UK freight office employee thinking that the Faroe Islands were off the coast of Egypt!

Well, speaking of stupid and France, we were once stopped by the Gendarmes for a traffic violation. Joe was driving and, as about everybody knows, he's Irish. One of our other members was with us who speaks fluent French. Joe had handed over his Irish driver's license and was sent back to the car to get the insurance info. While our translator was standing there, the two Gendarmes had a discussion about where Dublin might be. One of them opined that it must be in Romania where "all those terrorists come from"!

I went down to pay the ticket a few days later and couldn't resist informing the guy at the desk that I was surprised that the officer was so ignorant in comparison with the large majority of French people I have encountered - and I recounted the incident to him. He was pretty embarrassed.... but we had a good laugh about it. Now, every time anybody mentions Dublin, we always add - "you know, that place in Romania where all the terrorists come from!"

Many places that I go to I hear the "Those Americans are.....(fill in the blanks) I usually have a small discussion regarding generalizations and stereotyping humans depending on what part of the world they may be from.

There is good and bad everywhere and so on. Its so basically true one wonders why people even come out with various generalizations in the first place.

Short story.

Many years ago we use to have quizzes at a friends house. We asked one English male "what is the capital of china?" His response was "Japan" oh how we laughed.

Let no one forget that i use to think raisens grew on a bush. :-[
