Are American Spirit cigarettes as safe as we think?

For those of you in the US there is a "new" cigarette put out by the Tuscarora indian nation called "Smokin Joes" It is the first cigarette manufactured by an indian nation. Unfortunatly it is only for sale in the US. Probable due to tax laws. They're quite cheap as I only paid $38.00 for a carton. They are 100% natural tobacco. (meaning no additives) Thear offices are in Lewiston, N.Y. Phone number (800) 274-8010. They are a ;)little bit more harsh than the American Spirit and I notice I do smoke a bit more often than when I was doing the organic A.S's. but all in all for $20.00 less a carton I don't mind. I don't know if the can be gotten off Reservation or not. If they can I would asume the price would be higher due to adding in Federal Taxes. But if you live near a rez or have a friend who does its a good alternitive. ;)

While searching the net and found this 3 year old post. When a women asked maker of american spirit tobacco about the availability of gluten in american spirit tobacco, this what she got from company
_http://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/topic/79216-gluten-in-cigarettes/
Thank you for your email. While there is no gluten in our Natural American Spirit tobacco, it is possible that trace amounts of gluten are present in our paper and adhesive materials. Our cigarettes are no more or less likely to contain gluten than other cigarette brands.
I wouldn't worry about it. Once it's burned it's no longer gluten. Unless you eat your cigarettes. :P
Thank you and Good to know. :cool2:

About a month ago, I got to know coincidentally, that besides the American Natural Spirit (original blend, which is written on top of my tobacco package), which I thought was "organically" grown and manufactured, they also sell an organic version of this brand, called organic blend? I was quite puzzled then and ordered it online, since I couldn't buy it in any store around.
(In the organic version, the backround of the smoking Indian is not blue, but red.)
In comparison, the original blend version indeed tasted a bit more flavoured.
In the description it reads: without taste enhancers and no chemical additives.

Sorry for the noise if you already know that, I'm always a bit late

I use maroon colored ( or Red) organic pouch tobacco which is much stronger in strength than others. I tried other american spirit pouches too, but I preferred organic one.

I agree the taste is better. I buy roll your own tobacco and they last much longer than the regular ones.

I don't smoke since many years but I will try to do again if I find 0% additive tobacco.

You'll have no difficulty finding pure tobacco (additive-free) in French tobacco shops. You can go for brands like Yuma, Maya, Domingo, Fleur de Pays, Pueblo, ...

However, it's much more difficult to find additive-free organic tobacco. I've never seen any organic tobacco in a French tobacco store. And, apparently, it will stay this way for a while: link.

That is strange, I thought that all of Yuma's tobacco/cigarettes are organic, I didn't know that the brand Yuma also has non-organic tobacco. But it's the same here, no organic tobacco to be found in tobacco stores, luckily we do have additive-free ones like Pueblo and American Spirit.

I'm glad at least one of these mentioned brands, Domingo is available here in Malaysia at the 7 - Eleven mini mart.

Yes, something similar happens here. And my favorite is Pueblo.

Interesting link. For the same reason they forbid advertising the organic blend here in Germany

Here I found some kind of blog in french, if or where to buy organic tobacco in France:
http://ocbio.wordpress.com/tabac-bio/ (post 242 might help)

Good luck!

They had a campaign offering organic tobacco seeds for homegrowing for free in March :headbash:

Hello & welcome to the forum pledahe04 !

As it is your first post on the forum it would be great if you could make an introduction in the Newbies forum and tell us a bit about yourself and if you've been reading SOTT or any books by Laura for example.
Thank you.

Oxajil, if they have American Spirit in your tobacco shops, have you asked them whether they can order the organic ones for you, since they should have access to it. I asked for example at the gas station close to where I'm living and they ordered both organic cigs and tobacco for me after I assured them I'd buy them regularly. When it comes to the organic American Spirit cigarettes, though, they unfortunately contain very little nicotine, around 0,6 mg, if I remember correctly, so compared to their organic tobacco, it's quite the waste of money.

Actually you are right. Yuma is additive-free, fair trade and organic. Here, in France, it can be found in a few tobacco shops.

Fwiw - Organic American Spirit Cigarettes are listed as having 1.58 mg nicotine.

Thanks Aiming. For now, I order my tobacco (Yuma) from tabakland.de, if I'm correct they're situated near Hamburg. I compared the overall price I pay for ordering it, and buying it here (there was one guy who sold them, but the ordering was a disaster), and the price is more or less the same. I personally prefer tobacco and rolling my own, as I smoke lots :P and also because the paper of cigarettes causes a weird kind of a headache. I get my papers from France ('ocb' organic, 'raw' is nice too): _http://www.spi-discount.net My ciggies are currently multiculti!
