The story is that all the people made mockery of Noe (ignorance) because he made his ark by divine mandate. Then Noel understood why "god" told him to carry only animals; transferred to the present time who writes the note is enlightened with the understanding of that story of the ark. Then, we understand that sometimes animals are more intelligent and understanding than people, (less ignorant) this of course is a commentary loaded with stoicism and irony that makes a small or big smile appear on the lips depending on the situation or the person.
Broadly speaking, this is how I understand it.;-)
