What Tim Walz's past debate performances reveal about how he may take on JD Vance
September 30, 2024, 5:00 AM ET Opening Snip: Reads like Fairy Tale
Tim Walz gazed into the television camera and sped through a seemingly rehearsed set of points he was hoping to drive home in one of his first political debates, just days before the 2006 election that would catapult him from the classroom to the U.S. Congress.

"We have an opportunity here to exercise that greatest of American gifts: The ability to vote and to vote for a representative who will take this country in the direction you feel is best," Walz said as he closed out the debate. "My optimism in this country is so great."

That moment pales in comparison to what awaits Walz on Tuesday as the two-term Minnesota governor and Democratic vice presidential nominee steps on a debate stage with Ohio Sen. JD Vance, the Republican nominee for vice president.

While Walz is still projecting himself as a candidate of positivity, the hits will come hard and he won’t have the out of being a newcomer. With a nationwide audience watching — and Vice President Harris and former President Donald Trump locked in a tight race — he won’t be able to afford any slip-ups.

Walz's track record suggests he will focus on his work before entering politics as a teacher, assistant football coach and Army National Guard member. Those who’ve debated him before say Walz has a down-to-earth style that is relatable — but it’s an approach that can also cause problems for him.

Wow, previous post is shocking with its implications!

This one, however, is a much longer interview (nearly 2 hrs) between Harmeet Dhillon and Tucker Carlson discussing Kamala Harris's work history and how she seems to have 'failed her way up'. She is described as a real chameleon with those she interacts with and has committed a number of legal violations in her quest for office. If nothing else, she is over endowed with ambition and under endowed with ability. By the end of the interview you wouldn't think she should be anywhere near the White House. Even taking into account any bias against her by Harmeet Dhillon and there's bound to be some as they are fundamentally apposed on many issues (like abortion)

One of the parts I found noteworthy was discussion about Doug Emhoff ('Second Gentleman'- Kamala's husband at about 1 hr, 20 minutes). Apparently there were credible reports of violence against women by Emhoff. Harmeet Dhillon believes that these types of people don't change. It stands to reason that there's a possiblity Kamala may now be subject to such behavior. Dhillon describes Kamala as really changed from the more confident woman she was. This may be because she's out of her depth (and she knows she is which is likely)? Or perhaps because of her husband? There's a possibility it could be both, I suppose... Dhillon makes the case that Kamala is hands down the worst candidate for elected office, (unless you happen to be Doug Emhoff, I suppose).

Im just having a bad morning waking up to this.

Noone likes her
Respects her
Admires her

She is up against the most loved/hated in history...but in my opinion that hate is manufactured, not organic.

In NY I see Trump signs, flags, on cars, boats, absolutely nothing Harris.

I realize these polls are phony to give her cover when they steal it again, but do they think we will accept it again?

It is SO strange right now. There is effectively no president of the US and no one seems concerned about it. If Biden isn't fit to run, he's not fit to be in office. So, why no invocation of the 25th amendment? It would make Kamala Harris president and "responsible" for whatever happens between now and January. Right now, in the public eye, the only responsible party for any disaster would be lame duck Biden.

It might be part of an agreement with Biden, that he will be fully compliant with the situation if he gets to stay until the end of his term. Purely to avoid being removed from office, which he might see as an additional humiliation after what happened with the candidacy. Obviously it's only a problem that he isn't fit to be in office because the optics are bad. It draws attention to the fact that it doesn't actually matter.
