Body odor

The following is relevant for this thread as well, so FWIW:

Some Signs of a not so Healthy Colon

* Feet always have offensive odor
* Underarms always have offensive odor

* Continued bad breath
* Uncontrolled or excessive flatulence
* Very fowl smelling stools
* Diagnosis with Colitis
* Diagnosis with Diverticulitis
* Diagnosis with Colon Cancer
* Diagnosis with Crohn's disease
* Constipation
* Altering constipation and diarrhea
* Continual diarrhea
* Continued skin problems & irritations
* Chronic sinus problems

Other contributing factors to bad bowel health are over use of anti-biotics, which destroy good bacteria as well as the bad. Eating junk foods and processed foods that are filled with chemicals that promote overgrowth of bad bacteria and invite in more parasites and pathogens, total lack of fiber in the diet, eating too much meat, not drinking enough water, lack of stretching and exercise, alcohol and prescription drug abuse.

What is Good Bowel Behavior?

* Movements 3-5 times daily.
* Softly formed stools
* Lack of really offensive smell
* Little or no flatulence
* No feelings of sluggishness or constipation in the bowels

So what can be done to clean up our digestive system? First, one must start with changing their eating habits. Try to avoid processed foods and move towards more whole foods such as vegetables and fruits. These foods are wonderful and if eaten raw or slightly steamed they can provide living enzymes for proper digestion and good microflora for the intestines. Most of us are to far gone to regain our intestinal health through proper eating alone. [...]

Lol :P

I've heard you should go once for every meal, which makes sense. And if you had some snacks or another meal it would push the number higher, hence 3-5.

Hi all,

A friend of mine told me that she used geranium oil as a deoderant with very good results. She is a hair dresser with a very busy practice, so her grooming is important. I've gotten a bottle to try, so we'll see how it goes. She uses one or two drops per arm. Geranium oil has a unique aroma, but pleasant. :flowers:

Dear 3D Student and others,

If you haven't find a nice deodorant yet, I'd like to recommend you this one. Thanks to abstract, I came to know about this product.

I bought it via iherb.com, tried it and I must say it is the best, if not thé best, deodorant I've ever used. Almost would call it magic :P
You can also check out the reviews if you want:

Fwiw.

Yeah I am using an alum stick. I have noticed that it gets kinda smelly. Anyone ever notice this? It seems in that case that you are just putting the odor back on :rolleyes:.

Rinsing it with running water a bit longer will take care of that. You basically just need to keep it clean, so let the water run over it until there is no more smell.

Several years ago when I felt like deodorants were not only unhealthy but also not doing their "job" (kept having to try a new one because of their ineffectiveness), I started just sloshing some isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol under my arms. It took a few weeks for my pores to unclog, but since then, I've really enjoyed its use. Another great benefit is its inexpensiveness. :cool:

I've tried the alum stick (couldn't get rid of the smell on it plus it didn't work for me) and I've also tried just fluffing some baking soda on which is not so effective in hotter weather. I'm using this now with good results.

Not so sure about the cornstarch though.

It looks like it's organic, so it wouldn't be GMO. Is there anything wrong with corn itself if it's not GMO?

Corn is something that I think each person needs to test for sensitivity. You may have no ill effects from it, but you won't know until you try the elimination diet and re-introduce it and observe your reaction, if any.

Ah ok, thanks Heimdallr. I didn't think it was really evil like gluten or dairy. It seems then it's just one of those things you have to test for individually.

I've found not putting the cap back on the crystal deodorant, letting it breathe, also keeps it from getting stinky.

Hmm that makes sense. I will try that, thanks.

This thread has prompted me to go back to using the crystal again.

Regarding it being a little stinky, part of the issue, I believe, is transferring bacteria/fungus from the sweaty bits to the stone, rinsing it and then putting it away still moist. This probably creates a wonderful breeding ground for the bacteria, all though I thought the stone itself is a bacteria inhibitor. Perhaps the bacteria could grow in crevices of the plastic holder and cap.

Going out now to find a decent stone and hopefully be able to pitch away my anti-perisperant.
BTW, I noticed some of the younger generation I've encountered were not aware of the difference between an anti-perisperant product and a deodorant product, so when they tried different products and found some worked better than others, they had not noticed that it was the pore-clogging anti-perisperant that was doing the trick. All a deodorant usually does is cover up the smell.
