I was in Wales (Cardiff, Carmarthen, Kilkenny) in 2008. I stayed with a family there for about six weeks. The entire family, but particularly the husband was undergoing really strange experiences. He was constantly getting headaches, having thoughts and images projected in his mind and would wake up with lesions/red marks on his skin. In addition, he said he used to play guitar (confirmed by his girlfriend/wife) and could no longer remember how.

While staying there, I had two of the most disturbing dreams I'd ever had in my life. We never could figure out exactly what was going on. Theories at the time ranged from cults to mind control to aliens. In addition to all this, they told me the neighbors also seemed to display unusual behavior. One lady in particular kept coming over to try and get the family to join the local church. She seemed most interested in the wife and kids but expressed disdain at the husband. To him, she would give out a pamphlet on schizophrenia.

We had a good laugh over the pamphlet because it was obvious nonsense. Soon after, she (the church lady) became adamant that they return the pamphlet.

In short, I think there is something going on out there.

Regarding the comment about knowledge protecting. I have no doubt that it does, but if one is bombarded constantly with sound, images, physical disturbances I wonder just how long anyone could withstand such madness for long before succumbing?

One additional note, the family was interested in becoming Jewish and would experience intense attacks from individuals and their children although as far as we knew, this information was not made readily available by the family. Forms of attack were toilet paper smeared with feces found on their gate several times, rolling papers on their front lawn, kids being threatened.

This was taking place over years.

I've been back living in Wales since 2004 after living in England for 10 years, and I've got to say it's just as wierd as I used to think it was when I was a kid. I've seen drawings of the star of david on the pavement. heard stories of terrible fights and rapes in the late night post clubbing environs, and there are loads of people with nervous disorders and drug addictions in the poor areas of my town. Petty criminals are all over the place, kids in and out of trouble, and a clear sense in me of a bored, anaesthetised society dosed on media crap and cracking under the strain. Loads of people are wired and aggressive here too. A big time macho attitude prevails. The men are obsessed with being seen as "hard".

After a while you get wise to it as you get about, and you learn to move unnoticed, like a ninja.
Woe betide you if you sound in the least bit clever.

As soon as I can afford it though, I reckon I'll be off somewhere new. John Pilger said in an '80's documentary that the USA had one of the biggest naval bases in the world located off Strumble Head, on the pembrokeshire coast. Man, I do not doubt it. Loads of squaddies about too, and a ridiculously mainstream conformist culture. Loads of whacky christian offshoot churches too.

One of only two counties in Wales to vote for scottish rite zio-paths the tories into the local gov too. And we have one of those dreaded cash for crony rackets called the masonic lodges here. ;) But who doesn't?

It all adds up, and it feels like twin peaks, and a whole lotta haarp.

Well, in defence of Wales I have to say I've lived here most of my life and I suspect that many of the experiences related to above can be experienced in any urban area in the UK. I hope that anyone thinking of visting Wales has not been put off to much by the somewhat negative remarks. My advice would be that if you are thinking of visiting and are worried about bad vibes and the like, visit the rural areas and avoid the coastal cities and industrial valley towns concentrated in the south east of the country. Wales is still a predominately rural land and possess a great diversity of beautiful landscapes for such a small country. It also has a thriving language and culture, particularly the national and international eisteddfod (celebrations of song, poetry, books and dance)

FWIW I live in a rural area and have not picked up on any peculiar vibes - at least not in my immediate vicinity -although this is admittedly a bit of a subjective assessment.

Turning a bit pedantic for a moment :) there is no Kilkenny in Wales (in Ireland, yes) nor is there a naval base near Strumble Head, just a ferry port (although there is a military base elsewhere in Pembrokeshire).

BTW for those interested below is a link to a video about Wales and its wildlife and scenery ( in which I have to admit I played a small role in help creating :))

Re: 17th young person to take own life from same area in 13 months!!!!!

Sorry Treesparrow, I didn't mean to slate the place; it was an emotionally loaded comment due to coming to terms with long standing but dormant memories that is a factor in my recent feelings since moving back. House cleaning of the soul needed. Apologies duly offered. :)

I would say though that in the John Pilger documentary, which I can't remember the title of 'cos I've got about 30 of his docs at home, that the point he was making is that the base was an undisclosed one. He got a defence minister to admit to it in an off-guard moment. And he was quoted that it was way below the sea.

Don't get me wrong, I'm with you that Wales is beautiful, Steiner agreed too, but that is not to say that the beast isn't on the shore. I am cautiously suspicious. Maybe Alan Turnball's site on secret bases in the UK might be worth me checking. I need to check out if he's cointelpro, because that is what I suspect. But the Pilger one stays with me.

Hi Skipling, no apology needed, no offense taken. :). I thought I'd reply like I did because the direction and tone of a lot of this thread seemed to be giving the impression that Wales was an awful place and should be avoided at all costs. Not so, IMO.

Re: 17th young person to take own life from same area in 13 months!!!!!

I went to Wales last year and found it not only to be gorgeous, with beautiful landscapes, but also a most pleasent place to visit. We (me and my partner) rented a car and started our journey at Snowdonia, travelled down through Pembrokshire and finished in Camarthenshire. We have mainly kept ourselves to small and rural areas only spending the last 2 days in Camarthen, a bigger city. That was a shock.

In Camarthen people seemed rude and we had a couple of young people, on different occasions, cursing us and showing us the finger out of their car windows for no other reason that I can think of, apart from being Saturday night and going completely mad to have "fun". We were stunned

On the one hand, I agree with treesprarrow when he says:

I live in London and this can be a pretty mad city. On the other hand, I found the behaviour encountered at Camarthen to be a bit disproportionate. It just seemed too mad and too odd. Now, this feeling could have surely been enhanced by the few days of pure heaven we had previously spent in the rural villages.

Curiously, I've heard a few Londoners describing Wales as place with pretty odd vibes.
Nevertheless, and apart from the big city, I have to say that I definitely intend to go back, I found it a most relaxing, beautiful and inspiring place.

Havent sussed these quotation mark things out yet sorry , but i AWTF doth write;
Natural beauty is what it is , and Wales has an abundance of it. Coming from Liverpool I spent my teens holidaying in the North on the coast , and in later years on further into Wales. I agree totally with Treesparrow t , he behaviour and the bad energy on the streets can be found almost anywhere on the urban/city streets of britain. Try Liverpool city center Thursday night up to Saturday. Smaller estates are no less frightening to walk through.

Having also lived in various parts of London for a number of years i worked out that where there is more space , wider roads and so on there seems to be less aggression. Put certain fiish in a big fish tank and all goes well. Less space and they attack each other

I agree. An odd vibe in some places, completely contrasting with the more remote areas with gorgeous coastlines etc.
I had my car broken into near Carmarthen, when I was on holiday with a new baby, no less. So I have somewhat mixed feelings about the place.

Re: 17th young person to take own life from same area in 13 months!!!!!

I think one of the points here is that smaller communities are easier to maintain. In big cities it is far easier to be anonymous, and it is in these shadows that the trouble lurks. On the other hand, in a small community or town, after a while you get to recognise the faces even if you don't actually know each other. You just get the greater likelihood of meeting the same faces if you work in the town centre on a day to day basis. Also knowing more people from differing walks of life in the community helps, and the greater variety seems also to help. The grapevine can be both a positive and a negative, but that is the way with networks. In a small place like where I am at, it is more difficult for troublemakers to avoid becoming notorious, and this is such a good thing.

I really should have thought of this on my previous post.

Still attempting to keep an eye open for odd things happenings in the Bridged district , whether the following report fits that profile i'm not entirely sure, but for the record -

Bridgend taxi passenger dies

Aug 24 2010 by James McCarthy, Western Mail

A TAXI passenger died after a cabbie intervened in an argument he was having with his girlfriend.

Police said the 39-year-old man fell to the floor and sustained a serious head injury.

He was taken to hospital but doctors could not save him.

A 21-year-old male taxi driver has been arrested and bailed following the incident, which happened at about 1.40am on Saturday at Sunnyside Road, in Bridgend.

South Wales Police are appealing for information.

The force said when the taxi driver arrived to pick up the couple, they were “involved in an altercation”.

A spokesman said: “The incident has then developed, whereby the 39-year-old male partner has fallen to the floor and sustained a serious head injury.

“He was conveyed to the Princess of Wales Hospital and was admitted with life-threatening injuries.

“Sadly, he has now died.”

Chief Insp Stephen Jones insisted rumours a weapon had been used were false.

A liaison officer had been assigned to the dead man’s family.

South Wales: "Bullied" 12-Year-Old Schoolgirl Dies in Dad's Arms

A 12-year-old girl collapsed and died in her father's arms after apparently suffering months of bullying.

Holly Stuckey, of Bridgend, South Wales, who suffered from asthma, died after coming home from Maesteg Comprehensive School complaining of chest pains.

While her death is not being treated as suspicious, police are looking at the circumstances surrounding it.

After she died, Holly's parents, Clive and Lee, found hidden letters written by their daughter, giving details of months of misery.

Her father, a care worker, passed copies of the letters to police with the names of 13 children he claims were involved in her torment.

Keith Edwards, chairman of school governors, said police have "categorically" ruled out bullying as a factor in Holly's death.

"Obviously, these people are really, really hurting. It is such a tragic thing to happen to a 12-year-old girl. We have the greatest of sympathy for them," he said.

"As a school, bullying was never something flagged up to us. It is impossible to react to something that you do not know about."

He described Holly as a "lovely, lovely child" whose death had upset everyone at the school.

"But the police have said that there is no link to bullying in any shape or form. They have looked at the letters. I looked at one of them myself yesterday morning."

He said the letter he had seen seemed like "quite a morose song" and songwriting was something for which Holly was know to have a talent.

He added: "Of course, bullying does happen in all schools. Children can be very cruel, unfortunately.

"But it can often take place outside the school, going and coming, and that is not something we can ever see.

"But this is such an unbelievable tragedy."

Re: 17th young person to take own life from same area in 13 months!!!!!

It's really sad to read how much the chairman of school governors wants to be in denial of the effects bullying can have on some young students, just to prove that the school's inaction was justified:

"Obviously, these people are really, really hurting. It is such a tragic thing to happen to a 12-year-old girl. We have the greatest of sympathy for them," he said.

"As a school, bullying was never something flagged up to us. It is impossible to react to something that you do not know about."

"But it can often take place outside the school, going and coming, and that is not something we can ever see.

"But this is such an unbelievable tragedy."

He doesn't even question himself why would a 12 yo choose to express herself by writing "morose songs".
