Civil War in Ukraine: Western Empire vs Russia

Apparently DPR army has found a stock of US army, Stinger surface to air missiles in a basement in Donetsk Airport. See video: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c28_1437579318

For more about these missiles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIM-92_Stinger It also explains that the US gave these to Mujahadin in Afghanistan and that they shot down 269 aircraft. If they were kept at the airport "by the Ukrainian army" it might have been in case the DPR received air support.

There was this article: http://www.therussophile.org/eu-and-us-plan-to-spend-big-money-on-russian-language-info-wars.html/ "EU and US Plan to Spend Big Money on Russian Language Info Wars"
Poland and the Netherlands are joining forces to counter so-called “Russian propaganda” with a new Russian-language “content factory,” after US Senator John McCain insisted that propaganda is key to “winning the Cold War” without a single shot.

The Dutch-Polish news agency will offer TV, radio, and online content in the Russian-language across in the countries of Russia and eastern Europe. It is planned that the agency will start working next year, with the Netherlands and Poland hoping that other EU States will join them.

The project will “give the tools and the capacities for Russian language [media] and Russian social media to work on the basis of objective information … with the exchange of different viewpoints”, said Bert Koenders, the Dutch foreign minister. Koenders added that that there was a “broad support” for the endeavor from EU foreign ministers.

The new news agency will be “something which doesn’t use the language of propaganda or aggression, but which has real, reliable information,” said Polish Foreign Minister, Grzegorz Schetyna. He added that a donor conference for the initiative will kick off in Warsaw in September with the Hague hopefully hosting another fundraising later this year.

The idea to create a Russian-language news agency stems from a Dutch-funded study on counter-propaganda by the European Endowment for Democracy (EED). The EED, a “brainchild of the Polish government,” as the Carnegie institute calls it, was established in October 2012 to support pro-democracy activists and organizations in Eastern Europe. In December 2014, EDD decided to expand their reach into Russia.

In May the organization recommended creating a “news hub” to exchange news material among leading Russian language media and launch a “content factory,” as well as a research center to study audience behavior.

A source within the project at EED told the EU observer that the new agency will be a “content factory” working as “a kind of European BBC”. The publication also reports that foreign service agencies from other EU states are also “taking action”since March to “challenge Russia’s … disinformation campaigns.”

So far five experts, from the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, and the UK, have been employed to lead a new communications cell called East StratCom Team.

In an interview with Carnegie Europe, Jerzy Pomianowski, the EDDs executive director said that the organization is working with a group of 90 experts and media representatives to analyze their target audience and “what kind of content is needed.”

“With the support of a grant from the Dutch government, we have launched a feasibility study on Russian-language media initiatives. This is about providing Russian-language alternatives to Russian state broadcasting for societies in the Eastern Partnership countries and beyond,” Pomianowski said in March.

Meanwhile at stateside, US Senator John McCain has once again called on Washington and the US Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) to spread its outreach to counter Russian messaging. In June, McCain co-sponsored a bill requesting $728.2 million for the BBG to carry out international communications campaigns. That is in an addition to BBG’s $15.4 million request in April to expand its Russian-language programming and social media content projects.

“I love our folks in Prague and Radio Free Europe and all that, but we have got to catch up. We’ve got to catch up and understand that this is also a message of loyalties and truth. And we’re going to need to do a lot more,” McCain said in a speech to the Hudson Institute.

The Senator stressed that Russia’s news outreach could be countered by propaganda means alone, something that was done during the Cold War.

“One of the key elements of winning the Cold War without firing a shot…is the propaganda – the message, the social networking,” he said. “My friends, there is an inundation today in the Baltic, in Moldova, in Romania, and Poland even of Russian constant, incessant sophisticated messages that we have to counter.”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry earlier criticized EU drafted information warfare initiatives to target so-called Russian propaganda. According to the ministry such activity is “clearly aimed at pushing out Russia’s presence in the international media field.”

Last month it was reported that EU has drafted a plan to counter what it sees as “Russian disinformation activities” calling for the promotion of EU policies in the post-Soviet space and the implementation of measures against Russian media, including RT.
And how do they do it? "Radio 'Liberty': "UAF shelling Donetsk in response to rebels shelling Donetsk"" http://sott.net/en299342 That the propaganda is only to begin in a year is a way to hide how much is already being done. That the "West flirts with fascism - again" http://sott.net/en299361 is almost an understatement.

Two articles, one on the horrific living conditions for the residents in Donbass and Lugansk and the second, a report on the Maidan Massacre trial in Ukraine.

Different aspects to the blockade of Donbass
http://rinf.com/alt-news/editorials/different-aspects-to-the-blockade-of-donbass/

There are various aspects to the blockade that is enforced against the residents of Donbass.

One is a military blockade with nonstop shelling, such as, for instance, in long-suffering Gorlovka, where people rise in the morning without any guarantee that they will survive through the day or go to bed without knowing if they will be alive to wake up the following morning. Residents of Gorlovka and the surrounding towns and villages are fully blocked. Any and all humanitarian aid is prevented from reaching them.

As in any war there are those that barely survive under relentless shelling. These unfortunate souls live within close proximity of the front lines. They simply have nowhere to go and have no choice but to eke out a morose existence underground. Little children have been forced to subsist in dark and dank basements since last year, just like Poroshenko proudly proclaimed to the whole world, remember? These basements have no sanitary facilities such as kitchens or bathrooms and are unfit for human life. There are no air vents in there. Now, think here, we are talking about children that should be basking in the sunshine, thriving in childhood and receiving proper nutrition.

In addition to the ongoing bombardment which then morphed into a chronic violation of the Minsk Agreements now, Kiev uses the one of the most brutal weapons of oppression – a total economic blockade.

Victor Penner, Adviser to The Head of Lugansk People republic talks about the economic situation in the republic.

“The Economy of Lugansk province was systematically destroying during the last 23 years of Ukrainian independence. Hostilities just catalyzed this process. During not full 3 month economy of Lugansk region was undermined. The Banking system was shutdown. Social security payments ceased. Tens thousands of high class specialists fled because of the ongoing hostilities, creating a brain drain. The situation is prolonged by the fact that even with a formal ceasefire the recovery of the LPR economy is slow. Young republic is in a hanging position. By still being formally a part of Ukraine, our government cannot enable the functioning of an autonomous banking system and organize free trade with our most important economic partner – the Russian Federation.”

Today’s Lugansk suffers from acute shortages of water. It may be a slight exaggeration to claim that the entire water supply is shut down, but it is an accurate fact that only certain regions of the city have no water at all but others have it an hour or two during the day.

Donbass is also struggling from shortages of food. Here is a recent report:
“About 3 hectares of wheat were destroyed near the village of Tavriceskoye Telmanovskaya area as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian side.“

It means children won’t have enough bread again.

I asked residents of the Republics where they get food to survive? Most of it arrives in humanitarian convoys from Russia. Some people even traverse around military checkpoints and go over to the Ukrainian side to buy groceries. The basic answer was “from wherever”. The food is coming from different places, sometimes it is resold privately meaning it is impossible to enforce centralized sanitary control and guarantees of quality.

Last year Kiev banned the import of all drugs to hospitals, a logical action toward people they are killing and want to keep killing.

Another aspect of the economical blockade is the prevention of transport into the region. Herein lies the most distinctive feature of the Ukrainian war. Any blockade has the purpose to isolate the subject with the aim of destroying it or inducing it to accept the certain conditions. But not in Ukraine. Here this concept is broader. The blockade of Donbass is also an opportunity to make a profit.

The transport restrictions against the Republics continue and they also include the restriction of any postal service. The residents of Donbass have insurmountable obstacles to cross over to the Ukrainian side, for instance to the banks to resolve any issues. Sometimes the only one way to do it by finding unconventional ways to cross the border.

Residents of Lugansk People Republic talk:

– My old mother-in-law got very ill, and she lives on the “other” side. We were not able to get there. My wife’s sister put her in hospital but we can’t even visit.
– A woman from village of Korobets came to do the paper work for retirement, but she was told that she crossed the border in the wrong way, although she did everything according to these new rules. She was forced to pay a fine of 1800 UAH.
– The only place where people can go to do their retirement paper work is Severo-Donetsk, but no matter how you cross the border you are getting a penalty of 1700 or 1800 UAN.

Andrey Purgin, The Head of DPR Parliament:

“The main objective is not only to strangle us economically and politically – this act of oppression is so trivial in Ukraine – it’s all about money. The actual line of defense is held by territorial battalions. You can see their ads that you can buy a permit to go back and forth. The price to move a vehicle currently runs at 150,000 hryvnia. So, they simply make millions of hryvnia on the front lines. … The line of separation was created to make money. People go to Ukrainian territory without permits, then collect 200-300 hryvnia to pay for everyone at the checkpoint and on the way back they do the same. This is done in order to earn extortionate amounts of money. Everybody is earning money from the prosecutor and SBU.
And nothing changes, because it is beneficial to all. Everybody makes money. Everything is this way in Ukraine: legitimizing lawless, banal robbery and making money out of nothing – this is absolute corruption.”

For a long time industrial Donbass fed the whole Ukraine. In another way, involuntarily, it continues to do so.

Now, who can be surprised by the fact that Points of the Minsk Agreements that called for the abolition of the blockade were violated?

Revelations in the Maidan Massacre trial in Ukraine go unreported in the west

Note: A long and detailed article on the Maidan Massacre trial

A delayed trial of two Berkut police members in the Maidan Massacre case [1] have produced striking new revelations providing further confirmations of major findings of my Maidan “snipers’ massacre” study about Maidan snipers killing both police and protesters and subsequent cover up and falsification of the official investigation.[2] But these striking revelations have not been reported by the Ukrainian and Western media, even though the trial proceedings were open to the media, were streamed live over the Internet and their recordings were posted on YouTube.

Has OSCE been paid-off, to look the other way and now, is part of the problem?

Citizens Of Donbass Mass Protest Against The OSCE Who Cover Up Bombings And Atrocities Conducted By The Kiev Regime
_http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=459_1438101836 (video)

Citizens of all stripes speak out against the obvious obfuscation and lies being carried out by the OSCE. The city of Donetsk has been heavily bombed for the past year, including the past week, yet the OSCE, who can clearly see the direction of arriving fire, make no mention of the fact that the incoming rounds are coming from the land occupied by the fascist Kiev regime who have been killing ethnic Russian Ukrainian civilians for the past year. These are war crimes and the OSCE is intentionally staying silent instead of reporting who is conducting them due to the fact that the OSCE is simply a propaganda tool of Washington who directly finance the Kiev regime as they kill innocent civilians.

Well, yeah, OSCE is, in essence, just another front organization with fine words, but mostly functions to cover for the criminal cabal that's wreaking havoc and chaos all over the world for too long.

This is strange? Wonder what is really behind this incident? If these American soldiers were coming from Washington, DC - to Ukraine, why didn't they go on regular Military transport? And it doesn't state - what branch of the Military or rank these 9 guys were from?

Armed US Soldiers Arrested in Vienna Airport on Their Way to Ukraine
http://sputniknews.com/europe/20150730/1025209858.html

July 30, 2015 -The soldiers carried assault rifles in their luggage, but had no approval, Kurier reported.

A few days ago, a group of American soldiers caused a security alert at Vienna’s Schwechat airport. The men were stopped while trying to travel with army weapons to Ukraine without any necessary permits, the newspaper wrote.

The Austrian police had to intervene and remove the weapons. An investigation into the case was launched.

The nine US soldiers were on their way from Washington to Ukraine, where they were to be deployed.

"However, since there were problems with their connecting flight after a stopover in Schwechat, they had to rebook their flight and, therefore, leave the transit area," Colonel Michael Bauer, Defense Ministry spokesman said.

M16 assault rifles and pistols were discovered in the luggage of the American soldiers at a security checkpoint. The incident caused huge shock, because the weapons were not declared and registered and, thus, carried illegally.

The soldiers had not obtained the required transit approval by Austria. In special cases, the stay or transit of foreign military forces may be officially allowed after completing the application procedure, but the US soldiers did not send any required requests.

The attempt by the American embassy to obtain the approval after the incident was rejected for legal reasons. Instead of going to Ukraine, the soldiers had to fly back home to Washington and were allowed to take the weapons with them, the newspaper reported.

Yeah, I read that story yesterday and didn't know what to make of it. Something fishy about it.... Even if they were not military, but intelligence operatives with military cover, it doesn't make sense why they were on a passenger plane.
