Ukraine TV documents pillaging by Ukrainian forces (video with English subtitles)

http://fortruss.blogspot.ca/2016/01/ukraine-tv-documents-pillaging-by.html

Residents of the regions of Donbass under Kiev’s control have been reporting flagrant acts of pillaging since the beginning of the conflict — pillaging by soldiers of the Ukrainian Amy and by battalions of volunteers. Their houses have literally been sacked. Even the electrical outlets, switches, and electrical conduits have been torn out.

These practices have been so widespread and the topic is so grievous that the Ukrainian TV channels have begun to talk about it.

The film team of the Ukrainian ICTV channel tried, not without some trouble owing to obstruction by the soldiers stationed there, to film at Vodiane, in the northwest of Donetsk…

Thanks for Posting this link and video, Stormridr! There's been numerous news reports of home's being broken into, from residents near the fighting zones, fleeing from the violence and stray bullets entering their dwellings. Mostly, food and valuables were stolen. But this video shows the evidence of removing kitchen appliances, dismantling wood/coal stoves, removing electrical wire and outlets, lighting fixtures, wooden frames and even whole windows??? And they "truck" it - all out! There's nothing - NOTHING - left to salvage. The damage to the homes is so extensive, you would have to bulldoze and start all over.

East Ukraine militias claim Right Sector radicals attack Ukrainian marines near Mariupol

http://tass.ru/en/world/853666

One armored personnel carrier and two trucks were destroyed in the fight that followed

MOSCOW, February 1 /TASS/. Militants from Ukraine’s Right Sector radical nationalist movement and Ukraine’s Interior Ministry police units have attacked Ukrainian marines in an outskirt of Mariupol, a Ukrainian government-controlled city on the Azov Sea, Eduard Basurin, a spokesperson for the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), said on Monday referring to intelligence data obtained by the republic’s intelligence service.

"On January 28, a group of Right Sector militants jointly with Ukraine’s Interior Ministry police units attacked a column of the 36th marine brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. One armored personnel carrier and two trucks were destroyed in the fight that followed. There were dead and wounded from both sides. Police and army leaders arrived at the scene," the Donetsk News Agency quoted Basurin as saying.

According to the DPR Defense Ministry, Right Sector provocateurs had organized the attack. They had wrongly informed the police headquarters that the DPR forces had allegedly broken the line of contact in the Mariupol direction.

"Nikolai Poboiny, the head of the Mariupol national police department of Ukraine’s Interior Ministry, issued a personal order to set up an ambush. For the moment, the army and law enforcement bosses are doing everything to prevent the fact from leaking into the media. The wounded soldiers have been taken to hospitals in the country’s central regions," Basurin added.

The DPR Defense Ministry has reported numerous clashes among various Ukrainian army and law enforcement units in Donbass. Shooting incidents between servicemen of the Ukrainian armed forces and various voluntary units have been reported in the directions of Gorlovka, Donetsk and Mariupol.

Ukrainian military prosecutor considers Right Sector illegal armed formation

If the authorities cover up "criminal offenses" with patriotism "chaos will emerge in Ukraine," Ukraine’s chief military prosecutor Anatoly Matios says

KIEV, February 2. /TASS/. Ukrainian volunteer corps Right Sector (an extremist organization banned in Russia) is, in legal terms, an illegal armed formation, Ukraine’s chief military prosecutor Anatoly Matios said in an interview with Hromadske Radio.

"In line with all legal constructions, signs and in line with the Ukrainian Constitution, Right Sector is… an illegal armed formation on the state’s territory," the Apostrof publication quoted Matios as saying.

He said this "is the only volunteer battalion that has not made up its mind for two years: whether it is above the state or with the right to use the state’s monopoly to use weapons on the entire territory [of Ukraine]."

Matios called Right Sector fighters the country’s patriots, but underscored that "the use of patriots for political goals without mentioning state positions is the breakdown of the state’s foundations."

"A certain part, even with the slogans of patriotism, can’t hide with weapons in the rear and shoot police checkpoints. Whether the police are right or not is the issue of the law and its enforcement," he said.

Matios said that if the authorities cover up "criminal offenses" with patriotism "chaos will emerge in Ukraine."

Kiev confirms three killed as minivan hits landmine at Ukrainian checkpoint in Donbass
http://tass.ru/en/world/855645

February 10, 2016 - Three people were killed when a minivan carrying civilians was blown up by a landmine at a Ukrainian checkpoint near the contact line early on Wednesday, the speaker of the Donbass special operation, Andrey Zadubinny, has said.

"There were five people in the Volkswagen Transporter car (minivan) that struck a mine this morning at the Novomikhailovka checkpoint. Two were killed at the scene and another one died on the way to a hospital," Zadubinny said.

The speaker said the minivan had arrived from the territory not controlled by Kiev. "It tried to bypass a line 600 meters from the checkpoint having ignored all the road signs and hit a mine," he said.

Ukraine’s national police in the Donetsk region have confirmed the fact.

A source in the law enforcement agencies of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic earlier told the Donetsk news agency that a bus carrying civilians hit a landmine at a Ukrainian checkpoint near the contact line. Three people were killed according to preliminary data.

A family of three was also injured in a Tavria car that was hit by the bus window shatters. "A man was wounded in the neck, and a woman and a child were contused," the source told the Donetsk news agency.

The car driver was sent to a city hospital as "the Ukrainian side had refused to provide first medical assistance to the victim," he said.

Flu epidemic kills over 240 in Ukraine — health ministry
http://tass.ru/en/world/855505

"Since the epidemic’s outbreak 246 flu-related lethal cases were registered, including three deaths among children under 17," the ministry said, adding that over 3.5 million people got infected with flu in Ukraine

The epidemic thresholds are exceeded in 15 of 27 Ukraine’s regions. The Odessa Region in Ukraine’s south where 40 lethal cases were reported is hit by the epidemic most.

Health ministry data shows swine flu, officially known as influenza virus A/H1N1, is spreading in Ukraine since December.

Russia holds military drills near eastern Ukraine's border

Putin mobilizes all ground and airborne forces to full combat alert

Russia's Defense Ministry have started a snap inspection of troops in southern and central regions.

According to the ministry's website, 8,500 troops, 900 military vehicles, 50 warships and 200 war planes will take part in the drill.

Russia has carried out several unannounced military drills since relations with the West deteriorated over Moscow's military invasion of Ukraine in earlier 2014. Moscow is critical of what it says is a build-up of NATO forces near Russia's borders.

Germany Asks Ukraine to Boost Debt Terms After Russia Rebuff
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-02-09/ukraine-said-to-seek-compromise-in-3-billion-russia-bond-feud

Russia said to reject revised offer made by Ukraine at Davos

Moscow has threatened legal action over $3 billion default

Germany is asking Ukraine to propose a new offer to resolve a dispute with Russia over a $3 billion bond default after President Vladimir Putin’s government rejected a proposal put forward last month.

The Finance Ministry in Berlin, which is mediating talks between the two former-Soviet neighbors over the debt, is urging Ukraine to compromise, according a person with knowledge of the negotiations, who asked not to be identified because the details are private. The latest offer to resolve the dispute was "unacceptable" because it contained terms that were worse than those given to private creditors in a $15 billion restructuring last year, Russia’s Finance Ministry said in an e-mailed response to questions Tuesday.

The mediation effort is a sign that Ukraine is trying to reach an out-of-court compromise to a dispute that’s deepened the rift between the neighbors that began in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea. The government in Moscow refused to take part in Ukraine’s debt overhaul last year because it wanted to be treated more favorably than private investors. Bondholders accepted a 20 percent principal writedown as part of that agreement.

Since Ukraine failed to redeem the bond on Dec. 20, Russia has threatened to initiate legal proceedings in the U.K. The filing of the lawsuit has been delayed, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters in Moscow on Feb. 5. Both sides said last month that they are open to out-of-court discussions.

Ukraine is barred from paying Russia back in full under the terms of its restructuring agreement, which was reached to enable the country to qualify for a $17.5 billion International Monetary Fund rescue package to help it avert bankruptcy as separatist unrest hobbled its economy. The terms of that funding also require Ukraine to negotiate in "good faith" with Russia over the defaulted bond.

Putin proposed in November to allow Ukraine to settle the debt in three $1 billion installments from 2016 to 2018, but the plan fell through after the U.S. refused to offer the financial guarantees that Russia requested. Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko made the country’s latest offer at the World Economic Forum in Davos last month, according to the person familiar with the negotiations.

The country’s restructured Eurobonds have slumped this month amid a government shakeup that began when a reform-minded economy minister resigned on Feb. 3 after accusing presidential party members of corruption. The yield on bonds maturing in September 2019 climbed 4 basis points to 12.19 percent at 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, extending the increase since they were issued in November to 3.5 percentage points.

“At the moment, with concerns over domestic political stability in Ukraine, the country does not need further uncertainty” around the bond dispute with Russia, Timothy Ash, head of Europe, Middle East and Africa credit strategy at Nomura International Plc in London, said in an e-mailed note.

US Plans to Get Results in Ukraine Before End of Obama's Term - Lavrov
http://sputniknews.com/politics/20160210/1034495781/us-ukraine-results-obama.html

The United States wants real results in settling the conflict in Ukraine this year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"From our conversations with those in the US Administration who are responsible for Ukrainian policy, it seems that they would like to reach an actual result this year. The key motivator in this is probably the need to show something to the community after Barack Obama’s presidential term ends," Lavrov said in an interview with Russia’s Moskovsky Komsomolets daily.

The United States has been assisting Ukraine with economic and non-lethal military aid following the 2014 political crisis and Crimea’s referendum to reunite with Russia. Up to 300 US troops were deployed in Ukraine to train the country’s National Guard from April until November 2015.

IMF may cut aid to Ukraine over corruption

http://217.218.67.231/Detail/2016/02/10/449624/Ukraine-IMF-Lagarde-corruption

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has threatened to cut financial aid to Ukraine because the country has shown little progress in tackling corruption.

"Without a substantial new effort to invigorate governance reforms and fight corruption, it is hard to see how the IMF-supported program can continue and be successful," Christine Lagarde, the IMF managing director, said in a statement on Wednesday.

Lagarde said Ukraine has done little in “reducing the influence of vested interests in policymaking,” adding that she is concerned about the slow progress the country has made in improving governance and fighting corruption.

"It is vital that Ukraine's leadership acts now to put the country back on a promising path of reform," said the Washington-based chief of the IMF.

Ukraine is heavily dependent on foreign assistance as the country has experienced since April 2014 the shockwaves of a conflict in its eastern territories that has pitted pro-Russians against the pro-Western government in Kiev.

The country now waits for a new installment of funding from the IMF which has been delayed since October 2015 amid disputes over the budget. The top international lender agreed in March the same year, under direct influence of the United States as its main shareholder, to provide USD 17.5 billion to Ukraine under a four-year aid program. The loan, however, came under the condition that Ukraine delivers drastic reforms. The IMF has disbursed USD 6.7 billion to date but future outlook of such installments remains uncertain.

The strongly-worded statement by the IMF came a week after Ukrainian Economy Minister Aivaras Abromavicius resigned due to what he called consistent efforts by colleagues in the government to block his reforms. Lagarde had said last week that the reasons for resignation of Abromavicius were "troubling."

“Ukraine risks a return to the pattern of failed economic policies that has plagued its recent history,” Lagarde said.

Swine Flu Epidemic Sweeping Through ISIS Territory & Middle East
http://investmentwatchblog.com/mysterious-epidemic-sweeping-through-isis-territory-middle-east/

The Islamic jihadists have issued health warnings to citizens under their control, after the virus killed dozens and threatens to wipe out ISIS fighters across Syria and Iraq. The “mysterious epidemic” is sweeping through the Middle East, according to reports.

The Daily Express reports:

A human rights monitor group based in ISIS-ruled territories revealed the outbreak had infected “dozens of civilians in the countryside of Raqqa”, where the terror group has set up its headquarters.

The reported death toll, which rose to “around 20 people” this week, has put the panicked terrorists on edge and prompted a desperate health shut down.

According to watchdog Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently (RIBSS), the epidemic had triggered “panic among civilians” and taken the lives of at least two children so far.

Barbaric militants have been issuing information leaflets in strongholds urging citizens to wash their hands to avoid contracting the killer virus.

One analyst revealed: “ISIS distributed influenza prevention flyers throughout Raqqa yesterday because of the spreading flu.”

The Islamists have already been forced to halve the wages of their fighters earlier this year and many living under their rule suffer from “widespread starvation and limited access to healthcare”.

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) estimate more than 95 per cent of doctors have fled or been killed in most Syrian cities.

The Bashar Al-Assad-led Syrian Government has confirmed 11 fatal cases of swine flu in regime-controlled areas since September, with hundreds more infected.

However, opposition groups have claimed the Government is “covering up” the death toll, insisting the true figure is around 40 deaths.

Nobody is even allowed into the major hospitals in Damascus unless they are wearing a face mask, according to Ahmad Damiriyeh from the health ministry’s division on chronic and contagious diseases.

One mother, Samia, who lives on the Syrian coast in Tartus, said: “If the virus continues to spread at this rate, we will have to leave the country. What we hear from people is scary.”

The virus has spread throughout the Middle Eastern region, with more than 100 people killed towards the end of last year in Iran and Lebanon.

Dr. Anna Farra, infectious diseases specialist at a hospital in Beirut said: “I don’t know about the number of deaths but there is definitely an increase in the number of swine flu cases in the country.”

Yatsenyuk Increases Salary Three Fold, While Ukrainians Starve

http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/02/yatsenyuk-increases-salary-three-fold.html

The American regime in Ukraine is on a crime power from the systematic destruction of the population of the dying "project 404". Blasphemy of the lackeys of the U.S. Embassy has reached an unimaginable summit. At a time when the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians can barely make ends meet, fainting from hunger, saving the last crumbs of bread — the Prime Minister of the former Ukraine has increased his own salary by three fold.

So, the criminal, pathological liar and hypocrite Arseniy Yatsenyuk, in January of this year, pocketed more than ₴25,700* salary. This is three times more than in January last year, when Yatsenyuk had averaged approximately ₴8,500.

The amount of withheld taxes amounted to more than ₴5,000. The actual amount received by the Prime Minister amounted to ₴20,700.

In turn, the Vice Prime Minister — Minister of culture Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, has accrued a salary of ₴22,160. In his hands he received ₴17,840.

The salary of the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of regional development, construction and housing and utilities, Gennady Zubko, for January was ₴19,650, receiving ₴15,820 in his hands.

By the way, in 2015, Yatsenyuk's salary was significantly lower. So, overall for the year he earned ₴81,700, i.e. an average of about ₴6,800 per month.

Question Closed: DNA Analysis Confirms Russians and Ukrainians Are One People

http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/02/question-closed-dna-analysis-confirms.html

This was very clearly demonstrated by the research of Professor Klyosov

A leading representative of the scientific study of "DNA genealogy", Doctor of chemical sciences, Professor of Moscow State University and Harvard University, Anatole Klyosov, gave an exclusive interview to KM.RU, in which he refuted claims about genetic differences between Russians and Ukrainians.

Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians are a set of the same genera.

The nationalist school of west Ukraine promotes the idea that Russians and Ukrainians are closely related people. This view is "based" on the fact that although once a long time ago the Russians and resettled from the territory of modern Ukraine, they then allegedly heavily intermingled with the representatives of the Mongoloid race and ceased to be Slavs.

There is practically no truth in this statement. Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians are a set of the same genera, and are the same people from a genetic point of view. The origins they have also almost the same. The ethnic Russians are of three main kinds: R1a, I and N. the haplogroup R1a are 48% of Russians and 45% of Ukrainians. Haplogroup I are 22% Russians and 24% Ukrainians. Depending on the sample, these figures vary up to 4%.

A more noticeable difference between our Nations is observed in haplogroup N, which is common in Northern Europe. It, in particular, includes the part of Latvians, Lithuanians and Estonians, some Russians and Balts in the North-East of the Russian Federation. Haplogroup N are 14% Russians, 10% Belarusians, while in Ukraine this figure varies from 1 to 4%. The noticeable difference is due to the fact that Ukraine is South from the Baltics, Russia and Belarus. If we take the Belarusians, then R1a are 52%, I – 22-24%, and N, as I said, 10%.

I want to emphasize that when I say "Ukrainians", I mean residents of the Western regions. Moreover, we especially took data in Lviv. Of course, we have a somewhat different culture, different language, but not origin.

Assertions about the differences between our people are part of an information war.

There is such a thing as the "tree of haplotypes". It is formed in different ways. First option: specialists in population genetics go to places, go to the cities and villages with a test tube. Scientists collect saliva or blood from members of a particular ethnic categories and is determined by their DNA. Data from academic science is considered more correct. The second option is when people send their samples to a commercial organization. Science usually eschews such data, but in the end, the results obtained by scientists and commercial companies are about the same, and often just the same.

Now, we have modelled the tree of the haplotypes to include data for the Russian, Ukrainians and Belarusians. We have done DNA analysis on 111 parameters (markers of Y-chromosome DNA), whereas the usual "academic" analysis only takes into account 17 parameters or less, often 7-8 parameters. We tracked such details, in which researchers usually don't go for. We compared haplogroup of our peoples and found that were coincidences everywhere. Again, the difference is only in haplogroup N. It is entirely due to geographical reasons.

Thus, the question about the common origin of Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians is closed, even though I am familiar with the "works" that deny this fact. They gave me a great scientific and social disturbance. These "scientists" are nonsense and distort objective data. I consider such activities as part of the information war.

Finland, a neutral country, has found its place alongside the US imperial forces:

Increase of US-NATO military activity
has been witnessed past years also in Russian borders in Northern Europe, especially in Finland, where West has inched its military presence step by step towards Russia against the will of Finnish majority. The latest development is decision to send US fighter jets to Eastern Finland for joint exercises on May. This is the first drill of its kind and activity is openly called as 'response to Russian military activity'.

US fighter jets are coming to Russian borders just after US special forces, which had a long training operation in Northern Finland. And again US-NATO action has been planned in total public blackout and without any parliament handling.

Members of the US Oregon Air National Guard have been dispatched to Finland’s Karelian Air Command in Rissala, located in the eastern part of the country, for joint air exercises that will last two weeks in the beginning of May, YLE news agency reported, citing the Finnish Air Force Command. The Oregon Air National Guard had previously been deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's the first time that Finland hosts directly US Air Force.

USA will send to Finland 6-8 F-15C Eagle fighter jets, which will participate in a training exercise in Eastern Finland. Also Sweden and Norway could join in this exercise. Finnish defense officials stated, that "joint training efforts reveal a close cooperation between the USA and Finland and promised, that this practical level cooperation will continue and remain tight". About 100 US soldiers are expected to participate to exercise next to Russian Northern border.

I thought this was a great answer by Lavrov (from the discussion at the 51st Munich Conference on Security Policy, Munich, February 7 2015):

http://russia-insider.com/en/lavrov-curb-stomps-nato-bootlickers-munich-security-conference/ri12835

Question: I understand all the above-mentioned problems in relation to the United States and missile defense. Besides the fact that according to the INF, Russia equates drones to cruise missiles, I would like to note that the US President Obama had significantly reduced European missile defense. If there are problems in relation to the United States, why should Ukraine pay for it? Referring to the annexation of Crimea and attempts to divide Ukraine. What did the poor Ukrainians do that you punish them for the sins of the Americans?

Lavrov: I understand that you have, of course, a twisted perception...It was not us who pulled out of the Missile Defense Treaty. It was not us who refused to ratify the adapted CFE Treaty. Now we need to collect bit by bit what we still have left and somehow based on the reconfirmation of the Helsinki principles to negotiate a new security system, which would be comfortable for everyone, including Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova - all, whom our American colleagues had put before a choice: to move towards the West and to reduce cooperation with Russia. It is a fact.

I am aware that American ambassadors around the world receive such instructions. I see here A. Vershbow, who recently gave an interview, calling NATO "the most peaceful bloc in the world" and "the hope of the European stability and security." And who bombed Yugoslavia, Libya, in violation of UN Security Council resolutions?
The achievements brought by unilateral actions we are seeing now in the Middle East. We want NATO to not be just an exemplary organization, which it is presented as, but a participant in equal dialogue for stability. What's wrong with that? Everyone wants us to recognize a subordinate role of all others in relation to the United States and NATO. I don't think it is in the interests of world peace and stability.
