For crying out loud: 4th jab necessary for fighting the new variant, says German health minister (maniac), Karl Lauterbach:
Die Omikron-Welle wird Deutschland erfassen, warnt Lauterbach. Er setzt auf die Booster-Kampagne - und rechnet mit einer vierten Impfung.

vaccination probably necessary

Lauterbach warns that the omicron wave will be expected to be "safe". He relies on an offensive booster campaign - and expects a fourth vaccination.
According to Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD), a new wave of
corona infections due to the new
omicron variant can no longer be stopped. Lauterbach said in Berlin that it is currently possible to get a grip on the wave with the delta mutation.
Nevertheless, we must certainly expect a fifth wave now.
Karl Lauterbach
One must assume that the omicron wave can no longer be prevented in Germany.
"We are preparing intensively for this," Lauterbach continued. The
decisions taken yesterday Tuesday by the federal-state summit would contribute to this. We expect that this will reduce the number of new infections.
Minister relies on "offensive" booster vaccination campaign
The most important building block is an offensive booster vaccination campaign. The booster strategy cannot completely prevent the omicron wave, "but it is the most important thing you can do to prevent many people from becoming seriously ill," Lauterbach said.
Studies showed that the booster vaccinations protected well against infections and severe courses, emphasized the Minister of Health.
Probably the protection against serious illness is very high.
Karl Lauterbach
Unlike the second vaccination, according to the studies, the protective effect after the booster vaccination starts after only one week, Lauterbach said. With regard to symptomatic infections, the effectiveness of booster vaccinations is therefore "somewhere between 70 and 80 percent", protection against a severe course is probably "significantly over 90 percent".
Lauterbach: Fourth vaccination probably necessary
Lauterbach was confident that the announced 30 million booster vaccinations would be administered from mid-November to Christmas. 27 million
doses of booster have already been
vaccinated. The aim is to administer a total of 60 million booster vaccinations. 30 million more doses of the Moderna vaccine and three million of the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine would be available for this purpose.
Minister of Health Lauterbach and RKI head Wieler seem to disagree on how to proceed with the corona measures. ZDF correspondent Theo Koll with an assessment.

Germany has also ordered 80 million doses of an omicron-specific vaccine from BioNTech. He expects delivery in April or May, says Lauterbach. In addition, Moderna vaccine is also ordered. It must be assumed that a fourth
vaccination will be necessary in the fight against the virus.
Holiday rate also between the years
According to Lauterbach, vaccinations should also be vaccinated at the turn of the year and on the holidays in order to continue to administer booster vaccinations at high speed. For the period between the 24th December to the 9th January, doctors and pharmacists should continuously receive the holiday rate of 36 euros for vaccination. The Moderna vaccine is to be used in particular.
According to Lauterbach, Germany has also ordered four million doses of
Novavax's newly approved vaccine. The fabric will soon arrive directly from production.
RKI: "Christmas must not be the spark"
The president of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), Lothar Wieler, urged caution and restriction of contacts as early as Christmas, even if the stricter measures only apply afterwards.
Christmas should not be the spark that ignites the omicron fire.
Lothar Wieler
Within the next three weeks, the omicron variant can make up the majority of
corona cases in Germany. Wieler said that a dynamic that has not yet been seen must be expected.
Most haven’t even had their booster yet, there’s talk of more restrictions coming, a probable lockdown after Christmas, and now this!

Where are these studies??
Right now I can hear a lot of shouting not far away. I hope it‘s a protest against these nutters. It sounds like one, anyway.
