Dana unloads in the Mediterranean coast and Toledo, and passes 'on tiptoe' by Madrid

The heaviest rainfall moved during the night to the west of Castilla y Leon, especially affecting the provinces of Avila, Segovia, Valladolid and Zamora. The wind is now stronger in several communities.

The isolated depression at high levels (DANA), which since Saturday has put much of the peninsula on alert due to the risk of torrential rains, has caused this weekend flooding, rescues of people trapped in their homes or vehicles, road closures, the suspension of train services and flight delays. However, there have been no widespread serious incidents.

More about floods and torrents of mud in Spain, with unfortunately at least three dead and three missing according to Reuters:

The sudden downpour on Sunday and early Monday transformed streets into rivers of mud that swept away cars and trash bins in Madrid, Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia and Valencia regions. Hail also fell in many areas.

As predicted, the weather in Europe has seen the alarmists flip their tiresome spiel from ‘world on fire’ to ‘world is flooding’.

Despite a few pockets of arson-driven burning, most notably in Greece, Europe has been wet — hence the missing MSM imagery of cracked fields and a parched Danube.
And now, the seasonal rains are arriving on time, inundating the likes of Spain, Turkey and Greece....

Worth noting, the same system inundating the SE–and SW–is also responsible for ‘dragging up’ Tropical warmth to central and western parts, into the likes of France, Germany and the UK which are all now enjoying something of an Indian Summer.

And then what it looked like after rains turned the area into an undrivable mud pit overnight (that one is from 2023):

Responsible for recent floods in Greece and Bulgaria, the storm Daniel reached Libya.

Published yesterday:
Storm #Daniel is becoming a Medicane - a tropical-like depression in the Mediterranean Sea. It will quickly move south into Libya, making landfall over Benghazi tomorrow.

Daniel makes landfall in Libya with torrential rain. Floods in Tripoli
The Daniel cyclonic system made landfall in Libya during the night with sub-tropical characteristics, and near Benghazi. Daniel is part of the depression structure which in recent days has caused historic rainfall in Greece, with accumulations exceeding 800mm, but also involving Turkey and Bulgaria. There is a weather alert in Libya for the passage of Daniel where the government has ordered the suspension of work activities until Monday. Tripoli was also indirectly involved on Saturday and was flooded by strong storms, up to 48mm in Misurata.

In its movement on the Ionian the depressive structure has strengthened, isolated from the mother basin and supported by the heat of the sea. Daniel first became a subtropical depression and then a subtropical storm with winds of up to 45 knots as shown by Ascat-Meteosat.

Rains and thunderstorms in the last few hours are involving Libya with accumulations reaching 50mm in Al-Marj; the winds are also very intense. In the next few hours, torrential phenomena are expected to intensify inland while high waves and showers will continue to rage on the coastal area.

After Libya the storm will move towards NW Egypt weakeningbut it could still cause thunderstorms on parts of the north-western coasts, up to involving Alexandria of Egypt and Cairo.

Published today:

There is also this video shared in the Tornadoes around the world thread but I'm wondering if it is real or not, and if it is, this is a monster. If it is not, I apologize for the noise - Note that in the "Xtweet" (I don't even know how are called the tweets under the new brand X: Xweets?), one should read 'Storm Daniel', and not 'Tornado Daniel':

The confirmed death toll from the weekend flooding stood at 38, according to health authorities. But the tally did not include Derna, the worst hit city, which had become inaccessible.

Video by Derna residents posted online showed major devastation. Entire residential blocks areas were erased along Wadi Derna, a river that runs down from the mountains through the city center. Multi-story apartment buildings once well back from the river were partially collapsed into the mud.

In a phone interview with al-Masar television station Monday, Prime Minister Ossama Hamad of the east Libyan government said that 2,000 were feared dead in Derna, and thousands were believed missing. He said Derna has been declared a disaster zone.
