This of course won't have the links.. Not anything great but after a little research.. well here's the link directly:

Detecting Radiation and the Myth of Iraq Nuclear Weapons
Most forms of Radiation are detectable by various equipment. Including and not limited to Nuclear weapons. Simple items have been in use for years and the technology to tell if a country has weapons grade Uranium has likely been in space built into a satellite for some years now. There are several handheld portable forms of Radiation detectors. The Geiger counter has been around for years. This is common issue military gear in a combat zone where the possibility of nuclear type weapon's is in use.
There are fall backs to the small portable handheld radiation detectors used by the US military. They are old for one thing. It is also policy to re-zero them about every 24 hours, this can result in over exposure. Often times soldiers who may have been exposed for a short period have their Geiger counter re-zeroed and the used item is put back in use as well as the exposed individual.
Here are some more gimmicks and devices used for detecting Radiation. The American Empire uses Depleted Uranium (DU) based weapons against its enemies. It has done this for several years now. The first use was the Atomic bomb on its own people (though not directly). These weapons now are much more destructive today than the Atomic bombs of the Nevada Desert, Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
Thinking in terms of the present day and the use of small arms Nuclear (waste) weapons it is clear that the radioactive isotopes are poison. DU in the blood stream is more likely to attach to the cells of bodily organs than flushing out of the body. Once the cells are infected the results are more often than not, fatal. Depleted Uranium particles cover the full spectrum of disease causing foreign objects in the body. Here is the list:
Mutagen
Carcinogen
Teratogen
Epidemic (since your radioactiveness can be passed to others, by area, or contact)
Regardless if you take the weapon minus the casualties or those exposed you still have the environmental impact. These particles, which no mask can prevent penetration thereof, pollute the Air, Ground and Water. There is very little defense against Radiation. Lead seems to be able to slow down or stop (depending on the thickness) Radiations major penetrative abilities. There are no (publicly) known effective inoculations against Radiation poisoning. In some cases where the particle(s) has moved to the bone it is sometimes possible to have a painful bone marrow transplant. Then again, once in the bone it is affecting all the body as the bone helps make blood cells (generally speaking).
Needless to say this is the lowest form of warfare that man can beget upon himself. The Effects of DU last as much as 4 billion years. This stuff causes cancer. This stuff mutates cells in the body. This stuff affects your offspring. This stuff will be around affecting our Soldiers and the people of Iraq perhaps longer than the sun will shine. The affects of the radiation on a global scale may not be known for decades. It may be that the increase in cancer that is being seen in the U.S. is due to its test of the Atom bomb in America or its use in Japan.
Only pure evil, in this writer's opinion, could make use of such weapons, small or large. I guess we have the Bush Father and Son team to thank for its use in Iraq. Clinton also used it. I wonder if/when Hillary Clinton takes her spot in the Clinton/Bush Dynasty who she'll be using it on. The waste from making nuclear fuel or bombs is not something that should be used on people; it should be (safely) shot into the sun somehow along with the world's military arsenal. Nothing good comes from war, besides the opinion and wealth of the idiots and psychopaths who promote it.
Edit: Oh yeah, I was trying to make a point. Maybe I did but it was not the point I sought.
If Iran had certain highly radioactive materials (same as in the Iraqi invasion) American scientists, NASA, etc.. would certainly have knowledge of it. That might only be theory, I see that (theory) as only 'cause I cannot prove it at my level on the foodchain (education/knowledge/awareness). 'If' that is the case they would certainly know, just like I know the IAEA does, Iran is no threat (just like they (IAEA) said about Iraq).
As well, Irans pursuit of Nuclear energy completely complies with laws and treaties.
