Earthquake in Chile: Are you all OK?

Hello everyone and thanks for your concern. I live in Concepcion, Chile, one of the cities most affected by the earthquake, and recently again today to the electric power sector and I can connect my internet. The earthquake was horrible, the kind you throw them down, let alone the duration, over a minute. We are still suffering the aftershocks (yesterday there was a 6-degree Richter). Well, I do not imagine one more powerful than this.

Thanks again.

Oh man, good to hear you'r ok, I can't imagine what you have gone through. My closest friend here is form Chile ; yes he's all right and his family as well (which just happen to be in visit there and were at the 11th floor when it happened). It seems they have just opened the airport today in Santiago but they are not yet ready to have flights.

Thanks for reporting darthdo.

darthdo, glad to hear you're ok! I was shaking for days after Loma Prieta and it was only a ~7.

I'm glad you are ok darthdo. It really must be shocking to be there in Concepción!
My best wishes for you and your family.

Un gran abrazo!

Just gone through this whole thread now... :-[

I'm surely glad that all our Chilean forumites are ok and safe.
Take care. :flowers:

Agreed! Thank the DCM.

Definitely there was something happening in the skies after or during the earthquake. The guy in my job told me it was a diffuse reddish light at low altitude. The nephew of a taxi driver with whom I spoke also saw it, in Tomé (near Concepción), a reddish light above the sea. In the web I've found some testimonials:

Here http://www.tarreo.com/foro/index.php?showtopic=639671&st=100&start=100 someone saw "lights falling out, like little rays falling, lights passing through the sky". Another says he saw "the whole rainbow in the sky".
Here http://www.chw.net/foro/articulos-f90/309654-mi-terremoto-personal-p4.html saw "those vivid colored lights (red, green and yellow before a thunderstorm white)"

In the Wikipedia the ocurrence of these lights during or after this earthquake has already been attributed to a phenomenon called "Earthquake light":

An earthquake light, is an unusual luminous aerial phenomenon, that reportedly appears in the sky at or near areas of tectonic stress, seismic activity, or volcanic eruptions. Once commonly challenged, it was not until photographs were taken during the Matsushiro earthquake swarm, from 1965 through 1967, that the seismology community acknowledged their occurrence.[1]

Appearance
The lights are reported to appear while an earthquake is occurring, although there are reports of lights before or after earthquakes, such as reports concerning the 1975 Kalapana earthquake.[2] They are reported to have shapes similar to those of the auroras, with a white to bluish hue, but occasionally they have been reported having a wider color spectrum.[1] The luminosity is reported to be visible for several seconds, but has also been reported to last for tens of minutes. Accounts of viewable distance from the epicenter varies, in the 1930 Idu earthquake, lights were reported up to 70 miles from the epicenter.[3] Earthquake lights were reportedly spotted in Tianshui, Gansu, approximately 400 km north-northeast of the earthquakes epicenter.[4] The phenomenon was also widely observed and caught on film during the 2007 Peru and the 2010 Chile earthquakes.[5]

Theories
Earthquake lights are caused by an unknown mechanism. There are numerous theories as to how and why they occur.
One explanation involves intense electric fields created piezoelectrically by tectonic movements of rocks containing quartz[6].
Another possible explanation is local disruption of the Earth's magnetic field and/or ionosphere in the region of tectonic stress, resulting in the observed glow effects either from ionospheric radiative recombination at lower altitudes and greater atmospheric pressure or as aurora. However, the effect is clearly not pronounced or notably observed at all earthquake events and is yet to be directly experimentally verified.[7]

Another (magnitude7.2) earthquake hit Chile. I hope our friends are OK.

Here is the initial 7.2 aftershock posted on SOTT: http://www.sott.net/articles/show/204510-Chile-Earthquake-Magnitude-7-2-Libertador-O-Higgins

And, within minutes followed by a 6.9 aftershock: http://www.sott.net/articles/show/204518-Chile-2nd-Aftershock-Earthquake-Magnitude-6-9-Within-Minutes-of-Magnitude-7-2

Followed by another 6.0: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/us2010tsa9.php

Yep, everything is ok here in Santiago. The aftershocks ocurred just when the ceremony of "change of command" (Piñera assuming as new president) was going on. Sign of the times to come?

Take a look at this list of all the M5+ quakes in Chile since the big one!!!

This is NOT normal!

EDIT: Replaced it with a sorted list

Chilians are traumatized :( The replica are strong and frequent in the south as showed by Potamus (the first day you had a 5.2 earthquake every ten minutes in average!!). Every replica is quasi an earthquake!
Today we had a tsunami alert and as people were evacuating to the higher parts of the city, you could see fear in their eyes, even those trying to smile. And i'm speaking about a city that hasn't been touched by the earthquake! I'm talking about normalpeople because there were some who were enjoying all of this fear..
Today's earthquakes/replica happened during the new government investiture, a strong sign and clear message from the Universe! But the whole atmosphere gives the hint that nothing will never be as before. Something in tthe air so to say.

Wow! Thanks for the updates and I'm very glad that you are all OK.

This is getting weirder and weirder. And it's Oh so convenient for Piñera to assume power when the whole country is in chaos. :(

I'm reminded of these comments by the C's, quoted in the Wave, vol. I:

Q: (L) Will there be a war in the sky with the aliens?
A: Yes.
Q: (L) Will it be between Orions and the Federation? (I had gotten these terms from the Ra Material.)
A: Yes.
Q: (L) Will it be visible on Earth?
A: Oh, yes.
Q: (L) When will this be?
A: It has already started. Will intensify steadily.
Q: (L) Why are we not aware that it has already started?
A: Disguised at this point as weather. Fighting part still in other dimension.

Q: (L) Can you tell us about this recent volcanic eruption? What was the cause?
A: “Heating up” of earth.
Q: (L) What is causing it to heat up?
A: Vibrational frequency changes.
Q: (L) What is the source of these vibrational frequency changes?
A: Oncoming wave as we have told you before.

Something really big must be going on under the sea, in the underwater volcanoes...
