Earthquakes around the world

The earthquakes in Nevada happened about 50 miles (80km) from Mono Lake.

Mono Lake brought this article to mind from 2015, where it is also mentioned:
North_america_craton_nps.gif

The onset of this earthquake activity at the "weak points" (such as Volcanic chambers / lava tubes + fracking operations drilled shafts) means that there is MORE pressure building, and transferring.

We need to be on watch in the areas adjacent to the excessive movement, and the area directly in the middle of the movement which should show compensation movement in response to all the other areas surrounding it showing activity.

Thus we need to watch Mono Lake going South to Los Angeles, and each state along the edge of the craton.

This makes multiple 4.0M+ earthquakes in 7 days time all along the West coast with very little follow up movement along the edge of the plate.

In the above craton diagram, where the brown meets the purple, along this boundary we normally see earthquakes develop AFTER we see West coast movement. The West coast pressure transfers along the edge of the solid stable portion of the plate, and causes earthquakes at the weak points along the edge.

Weak points such as the Idaho / Yellowstone magma chamber
, and the fracking operations in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas. These areas always show heavy movement after just ONE 4.0M - 5.0M earthquake off the West coast.
If this was true then it would likely also be true now, so the coming period of time will be interesting to watch.

More earthquakes in Nevada (Mina) area and in Silver Peak... 12 hits. wow. Are these all aftershocks from that large one? (4 posted)

And I see theres quite an uptick in Earthquakes around the world in last 2-3 days. Yesterday I saw atleats 60 reports...

The Nevada earthquake has been updated to being a 6.5 by the USGS.

I found this little animation of the quake to be interesting:
It gives a visual idea of how these quakes can trigger other quakes.
Ive seen 2 more Earhquakes reporeted in my feed in Nevada (Mina) area at around 08:05 local time, about three hours later...
Than I took a look at the rsoe/edis map
:wow: ....... what?

Check the screenshot of the area where the epicenter is. Theres maybe 20 more in a larger area but I zoomed in so I could discern how many there really are. 50ish? Isnt that a BIT too much?

Red boxes are the strongest M6 and up.
Yellow are M4 and up.
Blue are M3 and up.
Black are M2 and up.

Btw. Mina in our language means Mine. Of the blow you up kind, not where they pull the coal out 💥

The last week saw 2 earthquakes equal to or greater than 4,5 in the map area. Worldwide the biggest was a 6.8 quake in Indonesia.
Of all earthquakes worldwide 2088 out of 2669 fell in the area.
Percentage: 78,2%
This last week the world seemed more active, at least in the usual map area that I follow.
All in all, there were 14 earthquakes equal or greater than 4.5 in the map area. The greatest being 6.5 in Nevada, which then triggered a number of strong aftershocks. The biggest earthquake worldwide was a 6.6 in the ocean near the Solomon Islands.
Of all earthquakes, 2832 out of 3317 fell in the map area seen below.
Percentage: 85.4%

As for the Nevada area, here is a close up, which show that 735 of 3322 earthquakes worldwide fell in this little area. It amounts to 22.1%.

So there are a lot of small earthquakes after the big one in Nevada, which to me signals pressure. One could think that after a big earthquake there are always a lot of small ones, but the times I have looked this is not the case. On the other hand, it appears to be the case for the map area and also for Hawaii (outside the usual map area).

To make a comparison, I looked at the other big earthquake of the week, which was the 6.6 near the Solomon Islands. It happened on the 12th of May, so enough time for some smaller earthquakes to appear. But there are none. In the last week, there has been 3 earthquakes in the area and all have been above 4.5. Here is the map of area:

Does anyone know if there is US military presence in this part of Nevada? Underground? Even today Im getting rsoe/edis reports for that place. 4-5 days in a row seems hella weird to me.

Oh my goodness... Just noticed something.

This M5.5 is an aftershock but it's stronger than the ones prior? I thought aftershocks were weaker?

Look at this,

Screenshot_20200518_085206.jpg

Ps, there's a dormant volcano nearby too by the looks of it. Hmmm... The one in Nevada took place close to a dormant volcano too.

Look at the map above. The green mountains are dormant volcanoes.

Interesting coincidences.

I think that these huge temperature swings play a big role in the amount of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions... Our Sun is the main driver of these events and it seems it is winding down and entering a low output cycle.

From what I understand when an "aftershock" is stronger than the "main" quake, the "aftershock" is renamed as the main quake:

aftershocks may be so strong that they're stronger than the main quake. When this happens the aftershock will be renamed as the main quake, and the main quake will be considered a foreshock. While foreshocks occur around the same time of the main quake, aftershocks may not occur until days or weeks later!
