The force of the telluric movement was felt in the cities of Guayaquil, Machala, Cuenca and Loja, Ecuador.

In Guayaquil, citizens reported on social networks that the strong movement caused an alert.

Residents of the Main Port of Ecuador reported that the earthquake was long. Some people even said they got dizzy from the movement.

The official Kléber Ordóñez, from the GAD of Naranjal, in Guayas, said that in that canton "the tremor was strong with strong sudden movements for several seconds."

One of the strongest earthquakes in the history of Mexico happened in Sonora more than a hundred years ago.

In 1887, the inhabitants of Sonora experienced a series of earthquakes for several days that in some localities appeared to be part of an apocalyptic event. Moments after noon, at approximately three in the afternoon, the town of Bavispe felt the effects of an earthquake measuring 8.1 degrees on the Richter scale that spread as far as Mexico City to the South and the states of California and New Mexico to the North, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake and changing the topography of the area forever with the violence of the land ripping apart on itself.
