Earthquakes around the world

How often in the the last couple of years have we heard that relatively small earthquakes caused movements, shifts and cracks over very wide areas, even whole landmasses? Quite often as far as I know, compared to over 20 years ago...

So either the same magnitudes cause more movements now for some reason, compared to years ago, or something in the measuring (or publishing) of the magnitude data has changed?

This may very well be the case, that there is an increase in destructivity, but as far as I understand, it is necessary to also consider how deep down the earthquake happened, and not just look at the Richter scale number. If a quake is near the surface it can wreak more havoc than one deep down, even though the actual shaking/quaking has less force.

That is a good point and certainly could be part of the equation here.

And also check the location. For example, the 1995 kobe earthquake was comparatively "smaller" than the one which struck Kumamoto but was much more devastating.

The pictures in both links above show what looks like a fireball. Even the twitter user who posted one of them says he thinks it might be a meteorite. Right before a 7.8 earthquake? Interesting!

‘Considerable damage’ in Ecuador following deadly 7.8 quake

_https://www.rt.com/news/339866-ecuador-earthquake-damage-collapsed/

Glas has announced that 10,000 troops have been mobilized to the affected areas. The vice president also announced that 57 aftershocks followed the initial quake.

Right after several large earthquakes in Japan, a M7.8 occurred in Ecuador. This might be an illustration of the 'reverberation' mentioned by the Cs.

Japan and Ecuador are both located next to the Pacific plate which moves towards the East, the earthquakes in Japan suggest a substantial move of the Pacific plate leading to a subduction in Japan (the Pacific plate slips under the Eurasian continental plate) and since the plate can't be stretched much, it's western edge is also moving away from the American continental plate leading to a dip slip quake in Equador.

There was an M4.8 in Ecuador about 10 minutes before the M7.8
4.8 21km N of Pedernales, Ecuador 2016-04-16 23:47:44 UTC 33.0 km

7.8 27km SSE of Muisne, Ecuador 2016-04-16 23:58:37 UTC 19.2 km

it was still showing on google as the big one hit. That probably wouldn't be so surprising for the area. What does seem surprising is that it follows with an even bigger one, osit. But that does appear to be a similar pattern for the Japan (and Vanuatu) quake too; strong quakes/shakes then the bigger one.

I understood that previously it would be the big one then the tremors, even if they were also strong.

It may be reaching, but i find it interesting when considering the events below - this first incident was first recorded in 2008 and again on the 13th April 2016:

A huge crack running 100m (328ft) opened up on a section of Dorset's Jurassic Coast on April 13, 2016. It appeared between Bowleaze Cove and Redcliff Point at Preston, near Weymouth.

and on another level it just reminds me of 'Earth opening up', you'd expect cracks to appear somewhere.

So yes we should take all factors into account, but it seems labelling is also an issue - is it a sinkhole, a faultline crack/tear or a landslide; does it follow a quake; and so on.

I'm just collating the information that seems relevant.

Added: these were all also within a month or so of today.

Saturday evening, shortly after Ecuador's earthquake, Mexico's Colima volcano erupted again:

Wowzer! Things are going nuts all over! And all the so-called elite can do is make more wars and kill more people.

There's an "expert" guy saying that the Ecuador quake was 6 times stronger than the strongest Japan got the day before. And, not to worry, cause they are unrelated! *sigh*

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2016/04/17/world/americas/ap-lt-ecuador-earthquake-the-latest.html

Ecuador's earthquake is about six times stronger and has released more energy than the one in Japan a day before.

David Rothery, a professor of planetary geosciences at The Open University, northeast of London, says the total energy released by the magnitude-7.8 quake Saturday in Ecuador was "probably about 20 times greater" than the magnitude-7.0 quake in Japan on Friday.

Rothery told The Associated Press on Sunday that bigger quakes last longer, so both the strength of the shaking and the duration contribute to the total energy.

Rothery says the quake in Ecuador began deeper underground than the recent Japan quakes, which would have lessened the shaking on the ground. But the greater loss of life and greater damage in Ecuador can be attributed to the country's less stringent construction codes.

The scientist also says "there is no causal relationship between the earthquakes in Ecuador and Japan."

(This item corrects earlier report and headline to show the Ecuador quake was six times stronger than Japan's, not 20 times).

Well, funny thing today. Ark has been watching a Russian documentary (‌https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIZcuahjMVM) about manmade earthquakes (as near as I can tell). He told me that one of the people interviewed said that Russia has surrounded the USA with earthquake causing bombs planted underwater by submarines, off of both coasts. Either the same guy or another one apparently said that it would be kind of a "silent death"... somebody pushes the button, the earth quakes, and the USA breaks up and slips beneath the sea (or big chunks of it). Another thing that was said was that apparently, the US has been engaged in some of this stuff too via HAARP and that the Haiti earthquake was just such an experiment.

So, that's what we were talking about at lunch. I came back to my desk and checked my email and there was this thing from Sorcha Faal with the headline: Russia Prepares For Catastrophic Earthquake, But Warns America Is In Worst Danger

Kinda freaky coming after that particular conversation.

In the usual breathless doom and gloom style, Faal says this:

A stunning new Ministry of Defense (MoD) report circulating in the Kremlin today states that President Putin has authorized the immediate redeployment of troops in the Eastern Military District (EMD) in preparation for what could be a series of massive earthquakes and tsunamis to hit the Kamchatka Peninsula within the next fortnight—and further warns that the United States-Canada-Alaska northwestern Pacific Ocean region may be in even more danger than Russia. ....

....based upon an “urgent warning” communication sent to the Security Council (SC) earlier today by Doctor-Scientist Mehran Keshe that said this afternoons powerful 5.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the Kingdom of Tonga was the “last lynchpin to fall” as the Pacific Plate is preparing for a “catastrophic new alignment”. ...

Doctor-Scientist Keshe, we have previously noted, is the inventor of “magrav technology” (Western code name code name “Khibiny”) used by Federation military forces in their secretive defense weapons used to cripple American warships like was done against the USS Donald Cook this past week.

In using a “different aspect” of his “magrav technology”, this report continues, Doctor-Scientist Keshe this past October (2015) issued his first dire pronouncement about the Pacific Plate warning that a “world-changing mega-tremor with the power to split up continents was imminent”.

Well now, all of that is pretty strange considering our lunchtime conversation.

There was a link to this:

MEGA-EARTHQUAKE could SPLIT continents and kill millions, warns nuclear scientist

MILLIONS of people will embark on the world’s biggest earthquake emergency drill tomorrow as a scientist warns a world-changing mega-tremor with the power to split up continents is "imminent".
By Jon Austin

North and South America will "split" and mega tsunamis could "strike America and Asia killing 40 million people" in an earthquake described as “imminent”, by a London-educated nuclear engineer. ... Dr Mehran Keshe, who studied nuclear engineering at the University of London, released videos claiming a mega quake with the power to kill up to 20 million people on the west coast of the USA alone is on the cards. ....

Iranian-born Dr Keshe, who runs the Keshe Foundation, claims a series of quakes between 6 and 8.3 magnitude in the last month were the beginning of the mega quake, which he claims could come any time between now and next autumn.

The Keshe Foundation says it is a non-profit organisation based in the Netherlands, with a permanent base in Belgium. ...

Dr Keshe claims to have discovered how to turn electrically-charged plasma into never-ending supplies of energy in the form of liquid, solid or gas power. ....

He said: "The South American continent is the starting point of the weakness. There will be earthquakes of 10 to 16 here and in one location 20 to 24."

Dr Keshe claimed up to 20 million people would perish along the west coast in north and South America, but the southern hemisphere continent would be worst affected as it split from the north.

He said: "This is not scaremongering, but what we have seen in the past seven days, we have never seen these kind of earthquakes in the past in these zones in such a sequence. ...

"There will be a number of series of earthquakes in north China in coming months.

According to Dr Keshe Mexico and the Mexican Gulf will be destroyed, creating huge tsunamis.

He added: "Japan and China will have the same huge losses and there will be huge losses in the Caribbean.”

Although the predicted devastation would be like nothing the world had ever seen, Dr Keshe claims it would ultimately bring world peace.

He said: "The world economy will collapse. The banking order will not support such a disaster. I hope it will not happen this way but this is what I know it is inevitable the continental break up is inevitable."

And then this from today:

Fears of 'THE BIG ONE' as SEVEN major earthquakes strike Pacific region in just 96 hours

SCIENTISTS fear a monster earthquake could be about to strike after a seventh quake in just 96 hours struck region, killing over 100 people.

Japan has been worst hit by the tremors.

The latest quake to hit the country yesterday, measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale, injured more than 1,000 and trapped people in collapsed buildings, only a day after a quake killed nine people in the same region.

Rescue crews searched for survivors of a magnitude 7.3 earthquake that struck Japan's Kyushu Island, the same region rattled by a 6.2 quake two days earlier.

Around 20,000 troops have had to be deployed following the latest 7.3 earthquake at 1.25am local time on Saturday.

Roads have also been damaged and big landslides have been reported, there are also 200,000 households without power.

The death toll in the latest Kyushu earthquake is 16 people and a previous earthquake that struck the area on Thursday had killed nine people.

There have been other large earthquakes recorded in recent days, including a major one in southern Japan which destroyed buildings and left at least 45 people injured, after Myanmar was rocked on Wednesday.

Tremors were also felt as far as 500 miles away at the national park in India where the Royal couple Kate and William were visiting....

Scientists say there has been an above average number of significant earthquakes across south Asia and the Pacific since the start of the year.

The increased frequency has sparked fears of a repeat of the Nepal quake of 2015, where 8,000 people died, or even worse.

Roger Bilham, seismologist of University of Colorado, said: "The current conditions might trigger at least four earthquakes greater than 8.0 in magnitude.

"And if they delay, the strain accumulated during the centuries provokes more catastrophic mega earthquakes."...

The latest earthquake to hit the Pacific region came this morning when Tonga suffered a 6.1 magnitude tremor.

That came just hours after scores of people were killed in Equador when a 7.8 magnitude quake hit the South American country.

Officials issued a tsunami warning in the wake of that devastation....

Thursday's quake in Japan was followed by a 5.9-magnitude earthquake which struck off the coast of the southern Philippines....

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake also hit on Friday off the coast of the Pacific island of Vanuatu, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

It was 53 miles from town Port Orly and the fourth one this week in the immediate area, after a 6.4-strength tremor hit a week earlier.

Vanuatu is on the "Pacific Ring of Fire," one of the most seismic parts of the globe and known for its earthquakes and volcanoes.

Seismologists say the Himalayan region is overdue for a tremor stronger than Nepal's 7.9 strength quake last year.

Friday's quakes take the total to nine across Asia in a period of just over three and a half months - nearly three every month.

Just six days ago, on April 10, six people died in Pakistan when a 6.6-magnitude quake hit Kabul with aftershocks in India

Two days before, on April 8, there was a magnitude 4.2 earthquake in Nepal.

Nepal had suffered a larger 5.5 magnitude one on February 22.

A month before, on January 20, there was a 6.1-magnitude earthquake in China, and 16 days earlier 11 people died when a 6.7-magnitude earthquake hit Manipur in India. ...

Tectonic plates west of the Nepal earthquake are still locked and scientists fear this is another trigger waiting to go off.

A scientific study published in Nature Geoscience said the Nepal quake: "Failed to rupture the locked portions of the Himalayan thrust beneath and west of the Kathmandu basin because of some persistent barrier of mechanical and structural origin."

Stresses locked in this area could be released, potentially causing a massive quake.

BK Rastogi, director general of the Ahmedabad-based Institute of Seismological Research, said: "An earthquake of the same magnitude is overdue. That may happen either today or 50 years from now in the region of the Kashmir, Himachal, Punjab and Uttrakhand Himalyas. "Seismic gaps have been identified in these regions.

"The accumulation of stress is going on everywhere. But where it will reach the elastic limit, we don't know nor also when. But what we do know is that it is happening everywhere."

So, I don't know if the USA is mined or if HAARP is doing all this stuff... but one thing did catch my eye above:
Although the predicted devastation would be like nothing the world had ever seen, Dr Keshe claims it would ultimately bring world peace.

He said: "The world economy will collapse. The banking order will not support such a disaster. I hope it will not happen this way but this is what I know it is inevitable the continental break up is inevitable."

I guess if 4D STS or the Information Field wanted to really smack down the human race for being so greedy and bloodthirsty, that would sure be one way to do it. As to whether it is in the power of any human beings to do that... who might actually consider doing it.... I don't know.

Yes, for a same magnitude a shallow quake will be more destructive than a deep one, also the Richter scale only measures intensity. The total power of a quake is equal to its magnitude multiplied by its duration, so for a same magnitude a short quake will be less destructive than a long one.

Those 'moderate' quakes leading to substantial destruction are probably shallow and long lasting.

According to article bellow: "how long an earthquake lasts is a decent proxy for its magnitude", meaning, as far as I understand it, that intensity measured by Richter scale is roughly proportional to tremor duration.

Seismologists know that how long an earthquake lasts is a decent proxy for its magnitude. The 1989 earthquake in Loma Prieta, California, which killed sixty-three people and caused six billion dollars' worth of damage, lasted about fifteen seconds and had a magnitude of 6.9. A thirty-second earthquake generally has a magnitude in the mid-sevens. A minute-long quake is in the high sevens, a two-minute quake has entered the eights, and a three-minute quake is in the high eights. By four minutes, an earthquake has hit magnitude 9.0.
