There has just been a tremendous earthquake in Chile, yet as I write this everything is moving :O :scared:

Thank you Yozilla ! I'm fine.

They say it was 6. 7, but I do not believe it at all to be so few degrees, unless there is another explanation to say it was so few degrees, because I felt really it very, very strong, not 6.7 degrees.

There has been a strong one in the same epicenter as the cluster of the last days: 7.1 magnitude according to the USGS near Valparaiso.

A major earthquake of magnitude 7.1 struck off the West coast of Chile, rocking the capital Santiago and briefly causing alarm along the Pacific Coast but not producing any serious damage.

Massive Earthquake Hits Chile Capital
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13960205000136

The quake was centered 22 miles west of the coastal city of Valparaiso at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles below the sea, and about 85 miles from Santiago, the US Geological Survey said, the Telegraph reported.

"It was short but very powerful," Paloma Salamo, a 26-year-old nurse, who was in a clinic in Vina del Mar, just north of Valparaiso, said when the quake struck.

She added that people ran out of the facility carrying children and some headed for the hills when the tsunami alarm sounded, but calm was soon restored.

Officials cancelled a tsunami warning that had been issued in Valparaiso after the Chilean Navy and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said the quake was not expected to produce a dangerous seismic sea wave. The centre reported small tsunami waves of half a foot (15 cm).

There were no reports of structural damage in Valparaiso, but mobile phone networks were down in some places, a spokesman with the local government in Valparaiso said.

"We have no reports of victims or significant damage. There have been some landslides in some places, without major complications," Interior Minister Mario Fernandez said, adding that "In general the situation is pretty normal bearing in mind the quake's intensity."

A magnitude 7.1 quake is considered major and is capable of causing widespread and heavy damage, but the effects of this one would have been tempered because it was offshore.

Several aftershocks including two of of magnitudes 5.0 and 5.4 were recorded in the same spot and could be felt in Santiago, part of a cluster of tremors from that area in recent days.

Again is trembling very often in central Chile, a few minutes ago we felt many earthquakes in just half an hour, one of them of 5.9, and I have the doubt if these are replicas of the strong earthquake of 7.1 degrees a week ago , or is indicative of another strong earthquake .... Even while writing this, was producing another earthquake (6.0 degrees have just reported), in total would be ten earthquakes in just a few minutes, just stop writing because I thought it would get very Strong and would have to leave my room.

A massive earthquake occurred on Saturday morning near Mindanao, according to the US Geological Survey.

Powerful 6.8 Earthquake Off the Coast of the Philippines
https://sputniknews.com/world/201704281053124139-powerful-quake-coast-off-philippines/

The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers at about 4:23 a.m. local time.

Meteorologists said a quake of this power could produce tsunami waves along the Filippino coast.

It was first reported to be a 7.2 magnitude quake until it was later revised as 6.8.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center announced "dangerous waves" could be imminent for everything within a 300 km radius of the earthquake's origins.

The epicenter was about 21 miles southwest of the town of Pangyan, the USGS reported.

There have been no reports of destruction or casualties caused by the tremor.

Residents of Hawai'i have been assured this event won't lead to a Pacific-wide tsunami, according to a journalist in Maui.
