Very good summary interview and I highly recommend the book UPHEAVAL (reading it now). The correlation between major earthquakes and solar minima is undeniable - and we appear to have just entered the next solar minimum.

Edit: The earthquake was preceded the hour before hand by an Earthquake west of the site in New Caledonia (4.6) and one south just south of there in Raoul Island (5.1). I think one could likely call them foreshocks.

More bad news for the beleaguered Japanese prefecture of Fukushima, as a powerful earthquake shook cities and halted train services. No damage or injuries were reported in the second major earthquake since November 2016.

Thanks for the link to the video...agreed a good summary. Casey offers a convincing argument, a timetable, as well as an overview of a very different lifestyle adaptation in a very short couple of years, given food supply changes are already occurring. A wakeup call indeed. Appreciate the information and intend to order the book.

Good deal KJN - the book is a great read and backed up in REAL science - so unlike what we see today coming out of NOAA/NASA and most of the academic community. Attached below is the latest USGS hazard map shown in contours of ground acceleration risk. USGS gives this a 2% chance over 50 years. Casey's analysis puts it at 80% chance between 2017 and 2038. I think Casey is conservative for the New Madrid zone.

Tsunami warning was issued after a strong earthquake hit off the coast of Russia's Far Eastern Region of Kamchatka, Russian Science Academy's geophysical survey reported.

Tsunami Warning Issued as 6.6 Quake Shakes Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Region
https://sputniknews.com/russia/201703291052065009-tsunami-possible-kamchatka/

The 6.6 earthquake occurred at 5:09 local time near the east coast of Kamchatka, according to the United States Geological Survey. The quake epicenter was 85 kilometers north-east of the Krutoberegovo settlement in the region's Ust-Kamcatsky district at the depth of 22 kilometers.

We announced the tsunami threat based on seismic data. In the area of possible defeat are the Ust-Kamchatsky district and the village of Nikolskoe, Aleutian district. However, oceanographers until the threat is not confirmed", the geophysical survey said as quoted by RIA Novosti.

Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations has refuted reports of possible tsunami, according to the ministry website.

Kamchatka's emergencies services have not confirmed the tsunami threat.

The quake occurred on Wednesday 85 kilometers (52.8 miles) north-east of Kroutoberegovo village in Kamchatka Krai.

Kamchatka is located on the northern edge of the so-called Ring of Fire quake zone where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur.

Yesterday a 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit East Kazakhstan, which was also felt here, in Novosibirsk, although just mildly. Quakes are actually rare here, especially strong ones. However, here is today's news from the local scientists (not very good quality of translation from Russian unfortunately, couldn't find a better version yet):

Siberian paleoseismology found in the Altai mountains traces three occurred in ancient times of earthquakes, power is not inferior to the modern Chuya quake, which occurred in 2003 and resulted in considerable damage, the press service of the Novosibirsk state University.

«We found the fault scarp in the South-Eastern Altai, at the junction of the kurai ridge and the North-Western part of the Chuya depression. It looks like an extended lifting: more than 6 kilometers in length and a height of from 0.5 to 8 meters. High altitude ledge tells us that he most likely could have formed as a result of several seismic motions», — are reported words of one of the authors of paleoseismology Evgeniya Deeva.

The scientist noted that in the study of the ledge it was possible to identify the seismogenic rupture, which occurred on the slip during the earthquake. After the evaluation of the displacement amplitude of the gap were able to calculate the magnitude of the earthquake, which was in the range of from 7.2 to 7.6. The intensity was 9-10 points. According to radiocarbon Dating, the earthquake occurred 3400-3100 years ago.

On one of sites of fault scarp paleoseismology discovered a previously unknown archeological monument: the group of 17 ancient burial mounds. Interestingly, some of them bore visible traces of destruction obtained during some earthquakes. Archaeologists have presumed that mounds were formed during the second half of the first Millennium BC — first Millennium ad. Since they were built before the second earthquake, scientists have concluded that it occurred at least two millennia ago. Studying the fault beneath the mounds, paleoseismology found traces of a third earthquake.

«Thus, over two field seasons, we detected traces of three earthquakes. They occurred about 5500, 3400-3100, and 1300 years ago. The two last, most recent event, we were able to assess the magnitude and intensity of which has increased by 9-10 points, and probably higher,» said the Deev.

The press service recalled that a couple of decades ago the Altai mountains was considered a region with very moderate levels of seismic activity. The situation fundamentally changed when on 27 September 2003 on the southern edge of the Chuya depression was a strong earthquake with an intensity of 9-10 points. This study allows to speak about a stable repeatability of strong earthquakes in the area. The scientific article in the scientific journal International Geology Review ends with a reminder that the identified seismogenic fault escarpment is located at a distance less than a kilometer from the planned gas pipeline from Russia to China.

US Geological Survey reported that an earthquake with 6.1 magnitude hit the northeast Iran.

About 25 minutes ago I felt that my chair was shaking.I am at my workplace on the first floor. It was an earthquake.
I checked on the internet to see where was the epicenter.
I was in Albania. If you take a straight line from the epicenter to the place where I live in Macedonia it's about 80 km.
Here are some details:
