A report stating, "Two earthquakes were detected near North Korea" which are being blamed as being "artificial" due to Pyongyang's missile testing?

Two earthquakes were detected near North Korea, which may indicate Pyongyang's sixth nuclear test, according to Yonhap News.

North Korea Struck By 5.6-Magnitude Earthquake
https://sputniknews.com/asia/201709031057037726-north-korea-struck-earthquake/

On Sunday Chinese seismological center has registered a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in North Korea that was a "suspected explosion", China's Earthquake Administration said. In a statement on its website the administration said that the tremor occured at a depth of zero kilometres.

According to South Korea's weather agency, an artificial 5.6-magnitude quake was detected in areas in the North Hamgyeong Province at 12:30 p.m. local time (03:30 GMT). South Korean military has confirmed artificial quake around North's nuclear test site and South Korea's presidential office says that North Korea may have conducted its sixth nuclear test.

Yonhap news agency noted that South Korea was going to hold National security council following signs of Pyongyang's nuclear test.

The Japanese government is almost sure that North Korea carried out the sixth nuclear test, local media reported, citing a diplomatic source. According to the NHK broadcaster, the Japanese government convened the National Security Council meeting from 1:34 p.m. local time (04:34 GMT) at Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's office.

"There are almost no doubts that it was a nuclear test," the source told Kyodo news agency.

According to the NHK broadcaster, the Japanese government convened the National Security Council meeting from 1:34 p.m. local time (04:34 GMT) at Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's office.

A 6.3-magnitude "possible explosion" has been detected 22 kilometers (13.6 miles) east northeast of Sungjibaegam locality in North Korea, the data of the US Geological Survey (USGS) showed Sunday.

"Possible explosion, located near the site where North Korea has detonated nuclear explosions in the past. If this event was an explosion, the USGS National Earthquake Information Center cannot determine its type, whether nuclear or any other possible type," a statement on the USGS website read.

According to the USGS, the explosion occurred at a depth of 0.0 kilometers.

Later in the day the second earthquake on scale of 4.6 was registered around North Korean test site, according to China Xinhua News.

No, not large, but it's turned into 72 aftershocks... or something.... which is more interesting.

A continuing earthquake swarm located over the monstrous Yellowstone caldera in the US state of Wyoming has now produced over 2,300 tremors since its June inception.

Hot Lava: The Planet’s Largest Supervolcano Setting Earthquake Swarm Records
https://sputniknews.com/environment/201709041057055357-yellowstone-supervolcano-setting-earthquake-records/

According to instrument readings as of August 30, 2,357 earthquakes have been recorded in the region around the Yellowstone supervolcano. This is the largest active caldera in North America and the staggering numbers have come since its inception in early July.

Most of the tremors are in the range of magnitude 0 or 1, while many have been recorded at magnitude 2 or 3 — relatively light earthquakes — but it is the sheer number of events that has seismologists sitting up and taking notice.

Observing seismic activity at Yellowstone, Jamie Farrell, a research professor at the nearby University of Utah, suggested that the swarm was "nothing out of the ordinary" but "does occasionally have little bursts of activity that lasts for a few hours," cited by Newsweek

But while most of the quakes are small enough to go unnoticed by visitors to the popular US national park, the ongoing 2017 summer swarm is now being documented as one of the longest and largest since records began being kept, according to Yahoo news.

Only an October 1985 earthquake swarm at the legendary volcano was larger, lasting about three months and documenting over 3,000 earthquakes.

Earthquakes swarms do not necessarily signal a volcanic eruption in Yellowstone. But seismologists and scientists continue to keep an eye on the activity over the enormous 1500-square-mile caldera, where bubbling magma lies a mere five to seven miles below the surface.

The last major eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano, one of the Earth's largest, occurred some 640,000 years ago and ejected about 80,000 times the amount of airborne particulates — including ash — spewed out by the deadly eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980.

The US Geological Survey, however, shows the current volcano alert level in Yellowstone National Park to be normal, and displays the aviation color code as green, indicating no current threat to flights in the region.

Recently, a scientist with the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, observed that "for magma to reach the surface a new vent needs to be created, which requires a lot of intense geological activity," according to Newsweek.

The scientist added that, "we would need to see considerably more and larger earthquakes, combined with contemporaneous ground deformation, steam explosions and changes in gas and heat discharge, prior to moving the [current green] alert level."

"None of that has occurred," he stated.

Tsunami warnings have been issued for this magnitude 8.0 earthquake off Mexico's coast.

An earthquake of magnitude 8.0 struck off the southern coast of Mexico late on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said, shaking buildings in the capital city.

People in Mexico City ran out into the streets after the quake struck, a Reuters witness said.

Its epicentre was 123km south-west of the town of Pijijiapan, at a depth of 33km.

Widespread, hazardous tsunami waves are possible in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, and Ecuador, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said.

We went out the street and got to see some lights.

It was the strongest one in 32 years but no damage reported so far.

We went out of the house and one of the first things that we saw was lightning without sound, and a lot. I mean, it has been cloudy here but with no lightning and this was different, we've never seen anything like that before. I'm pretty sure that maybe a couple of the flashes were transformers, but other lights were more green and up in the sky. Many are reporting them in Twitter:

Multiple Hurricane's - now an Earthquake - what's next ... a Volcanic eruption?

Eight countries have received tsunami alerts after an 8.0-magnitude earthquake struck 120 kilometers southwest of Mexico, according to US Geological Survey data.

The epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 33 km (21 miles), 123 km (76 miles) southwest of the town of Pijijiapan, not far from the Guatemalan border.

The US Tsunami Warning System said hazardous tsunami waves are likely to follow in eight neighboring countries, including Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, El Salvador, and Costa Rica.

That was a very strong earthquake indeed! :scared: And the videos of the strange skies make it even scarier. These weather phenomena seem to point towards some strong discharge happening in the atmosphere, maybe linked to the recent X-class solar flare?

Would interesting to know if anyone from the forum experienced the tremor. I was quite surprised to read that there has been minimal damage from such a strong and shallow earthquake, but I guess the conditions are different than in other places.

It looks like. According to Spaceweather.com:

The debris from Wednesday's monster X9-class solar flare reached Earth last night--and its impact was everything forecasters expected.
