Earthquakes around the world

WORLDWIDE EARTHQUAKE REPORT JANUARY 02, 2026

After the earthquake M6.5 in Guerrero México, authorities confirmed two deaths:

● A woman (aged around 50-56) in Guerrero, due to the collapse of her home in a community near the epicenter.

● A man (aged 60-67) in Mexico City, who fell down the stairs during the evacuation when the seismic alert was activated (possibly due to a heart attack or trauma)

Minor injuries were reported: at least 12 people in Mexico City due to nervous breakdowns or falls during evacuations, and a few more in Guerrero. There are no reports of additional serious casualties.

The damage was mainly minor and localized, with no serious structural damage to critical infrastructure:

● Guerrero (epicenter): Damage in at least 16 municipalities, including Acapulco, Chilpancingo, and San Marcos. Road collapses and landslides (e.g., on the Autopista del Sol highway), gas leaks, damage to homes (around 500 houses with detached roof tiles, fences, walls, or partial collapses), public buildings, and hospitals (damage to ceilings and finishes). A hospital in Chilpancingo suffered major structural damage, requiring the evacuation of patients. A restaurant in Barra Vieja, Acapulco, also collapsed.

The Playa Suave restaurant, a traditional seaside business, collapsed completely.

● Mexico City: Fallen poles, trees, temporary power outages (mostly restored), minor damage to buildings (ceiling tiles, broken windows). Reports of explosion/fire at an electrical substation due to transformer failure. Helicopter flyovers did not detect any serious damage.

Today, a series of earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.0 or higher has been reported, the strongest of which had a magnitude of 5.5.

The northern coast of the Black Sea
An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred in Sochi
The resort capital of Russia faced a significant earthquake, the epicenter of which, according to seismologists, was located in the Black Sea just 5 kilometers from the coast. An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred during the daytime, most noticeably manifesting itself in the Lazarevsky district, where the intensity of the tremors was 4 points. Eyewitnesses described a short-term increasing vibration that drew attention to itself even inside buildings. In the Central area of the city, the seismic event was felt weaker — at the level of 3 points. Despite residents' emotional reports about the visual effects of the vibration of the walls, the city's life support systems continued to operate normally.

Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin promptly informed the public that no one was injured in the incident, and surveys of city facilities revealed no damage or damage to building structures. Specialized services have monitored the condition of key infrastructure, confirming the reliability and earthquake resistance of buildings. Russian experts note that such tremors in the Caucasus region are a natural process of discharging the earth's crust and do not pose a critical threat to the modern urban foundation, designed taking into account the geographical features of the area. The professional work of the emergency services and the calm atmosphere in the city after a short-term natural phenomenon confirm the resort's readiness for any challenges of the elements.

December 31, 2025:

Frank Hoogerbeets, known for linking seismic activity to planetary alignments, said the beginning of the year could witness notable earthquakes due to what he described as significant astronomical conjunctions within the solar system.

In a video published on his official YouTube channel, Hoogerbeets pointed to a conjunction involving Mercury, the Sun, and Uranus, alongside another alignment bringing together Earth, Uranus, the Moon, Venus, and Mars in early January. He argued that such planetary positioning could stimulate increased movement in the Earth’s crust.

Hoogerbeets said seismic effects may begin to peak around January 3, with what he described as a critical window extending from January 7 to January 9. He suggested that a major seismic event could occur around January 4, with a margin of one day before or after.

According to his assessment, potential earthquakes could range between magnitude five and six on the Richter scale, warning that they could reach magnitude seven in worst-case scenarios. He added that the final intensity would depend on accumulated stress in the Earth’s crust and local tectonic conditions, factors he acknowledged are difficult to measure precisely.

As planetary alignments intensify between January 8 and January 9, Hoogerbeets raised the possibility of even stronger seismic events, suggesting that, in extreme cases, earthquakes could reach magnitude eight.

He urged residents of earthquake-prone regions, including Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Istanbul, to remain vigilant starting in early January and to take all necessary precautions in case of a major earthquake.

This positioning alignment might be in play:

So far, planetary and lunar geometries have produced several earthquakes measuring 5+ on the Richter scale and three earthquakes measuring 6.0 or higher, with an M6.5 earthquake being the strongest in these first days of 2026.

The last earthquake measuring 5+ occurred in Papua New Guinea, 16 hours ago. Seismic silences for M≥5.0 usually precede significant seismic events, and a seismic cluster has been recorded, mainly in the western Pacific.

At 19:19 UTC on January 5, the quintuple planetary and lunar conjunction will begin.

●M 5.2 - 100 km NNW of Finschhafen, Papua New Guinea 2026-01-05 00:42:03 (UTC) USGS
Between December 31 and January 9, strong seismic activity may occur, which in the worst case could reach a magnitude greater than 6.0 and even 7.0, especially starting on January 6 with the quintuple lunar and planetary conjunction involving the Sun, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter.
Edit, Exact time: 19:19:41 UTC
Let's wait & see

● Earthquake forecast
There is still a possibility of a significant event in the coming days. In the worst-case scenario, there is a 60% probability of an earthquake measuring up to M8.4, while there is an 80% probability of an earthquake measuring up to M6.4. This is due to the quintuple planetary and lunar alignment announced by SSGEOS.

. Volcanodiscovery

This earthquake occurred in a very interesting area (Guyana Esequiba) given recent geopolitical events, as it is a zone of territorial dispute between Venezuela and Guyana. The disputed territory covers some 160,000 km² and is rich in natural resources such as jungle, rivers, minerals, and oil potential. In 2015, there was a massive discovery of offshore oil reserves in the Stabroek block, estimated at more than 11 billion barrels, licensed by Guyana to companies such as ExxonMobil and claimed by Nicolas Maduro.
