Earthquakes around the world

Yesterday, I was walking along a bike path with my sisters. It was 11:30 am in North Central Massachusetts. Suddenly we heard this very loud and deep BOOM. Other people walking also stopped and turned toward the sound of the boom. No sirens or smoke. And then it was quiet. None of us ever heard a sound like that before. By the time I got home a friend called and said there was an earthquake about 35 miles north of us in New Boston, New Hampshire. We didn't feel any shaking. Never heard an earthquake before.

Maybe it was the explosion of a meteorite in the atmosphere:

Something Shook New Hampshire. What Caused the Boom Is a Mystery.

The U.S. Geological Survey said it had so far found no evidence of an earthquake in all of New England during the past seven days.

A mysterious boom jolted New Hampshire and at least one adjoining state on Sunday morning, rattling homes, spooking pets and prompting several hundred amateur sleuths to go online to try to find out what possibly could have caused all the commotion.

So far, the source of the boom has confounded residents, many of whom speculated that it might have been an earthquake.

During the past 24 hours, there were 2 quakes of magnitude 6.0 or above, 1 quake of magnitude 5.7, 26 quakes between 4.0 and 5.0, 132 quakes between 3.0 and 4.0, and 307 quakes between 2.0 and 3.0. There were also 451 quakes below magnitude 2.0 which people don't normally feel.

Good videos from Dutchsinse on all the earthquake activity we are currently witnessing. He is pretty good at predicting coming earthquakes imho.

A short synapsis:
First video shows we have had several very deep earthquakes within the last couple of weeks, and the waves generated by those deep quakes are traveling along all the plate boundaries and causing earthquakes all around the globe.
Second video shows the earthquakes happening as the wave moves along the plates. This one covers the Hawaii earthquakes and some or the activity at La Palma and predicts where we may see further earthquake activity

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Southwest Alaska early Monday in what the Alaska Earthquake Center called an aftershock of an 8.2 quake in late July.

Monday’s earthquake was felt throughout the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island, according to the center.
It occurred about 70 miles east of Chignik, a community of about 90 people on the Alaska Peninsula.

The center had not received reports of significant damage but also relies on self-reporting, said seismologist Natalia Ruppert. Jeremy Zidek, a spokesperson for Alaska’s emergency management office, said the office was contacting communities and had no reports of damage so far.

The U.S. Geological Survey on Twitter had reported a preliminary magnitude of 6.5 that was later revised to 6.9, which ties another earthquake that hit Alaska in August.

The two 6.9 quakes were the largest aftershocks tallied since the United States experienced its largest earthquake in the past half-century, the magnitude 8.2 quake that struck south of the Alaska Peninsula on July 28. It was widely felt but caused no major damage in the sparsely populated region closest to it. The earthquake center at the time said it was the biggest quake in the U.S. since a magnitude 8.7 earthquake in the Aleutians in 1965.

Ruppert said aftershocks from the July earthquake could continue for “many, many more months.”

She said the region is seismically active, and it’s not unexpected for such a large quake to have aftershocks greater than a magnitude 6.

M6.3 quake in Crete. According to EMSC this has been reviewed by a seismologist. It wasn't yet showing on USGS. Pretty sure i remember that area having numerous smaller quakes in the last week, and RT reported that 27th Sept they had an M6.0.

Some testimonials:

We have had 6.2 in the past, this was much bigger & longer duration.

Sharp and strong heard it before we felt it. Things flying off shelves

It lasted for about 20 sec and the was deep noise
