Eiriu Eolas in Edmonton & Vancouver

Glad to hear the last EE meeting in Edmonton went well, Alana! I'm honored to receive their well-wishings.
I started putting up posters around white rock and a place downtown today, and will probably do some more throughout the week if my schedule permits. I already managed to get some people to commit so hopefully we'll see a strong showing for the first run in Vancouver :)

That's great whitecoast!

I just arrived in Vancouver last night. It's a big busy city, huh? ;) Looking forward to seeing you again and meeting everyone else :D

Hey Alana:

Yes Vancouver is very big & beautiful :D

I'm going to PM you my phone #. Neema and I will be in the city by around 1:00 PM. Call me and let me know if you need anything, even if it's just a ride- or you just want to meet up before the session.

Either way, I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone, I hope we have a good turn out! :P

Amazing first meeting.

Special thanks to Alana and T. Very inspiring, looking forward to future meetings.

It was also very nice meeting everyone form the Vancouver area. :)

I completely agree! Thanks so much Alana and T. It was an amazing experience and I look forward to any future meetings. Thanks to everyone who came! It was really cool to meet everyone. :)

The Vancouver meeting was possible because of everyone's willingness to help spread the word, design the word and come, so it was a team effort really :) When the strike is over you will all receive the posters in the mail too

For everyone who was not there, we were 14 people in the meeting. Neema, Deedlet, Chuck, Whitecoast, Timótheos and myself were there from the forum, among others a few of whitecoast's friends, a Vancouveran sott reader, and a woman who came from Seattle just for the event. She shared that after being in an emotionally abusive relationship for 4 years, she found the work of Sandra Brown and read her books. And then she listened to an interview with Sandra Brown and Approaching Infinity, in which the latter recommended the EE program for healing after being in a relationship with a pathological. So she ordered the DVD, did the program, felt better than she did in years afterwards, and drove to do the program with us, after seeing the ad  It's so beautiful when people who really need this program find it.

We stayed almost an hour longer than what was planned, because everyone was very engaged, had questions, comments, etc. All in all, a nice EE start in Vancouver. And like in every big city, Vancouverans could really benefit from EE practice, so I am hoping that we will see new EE certified teachers in the area soon ;) {hint, hint}

Whitecoast, I am interested to know how did your friends find the program, did they say anything to you about it afterwards?

What an excellent start! We'll definitely need teachers there. Thanks to everyone who helped get the word out!

Hi Whitecoast,

I noticed you were collecting names and phone numbers after the Vancouver EE presentation in order to hold regular meetings with other interested participants. I was wondering how many people signed up on your list and what your overall plans are for the meetings?

Whitecoast, I don't know enough about you to authorize you to hold meetings about the Cass experiment.

Hi,

Fwiw I was one of the people that signed the list whitecoast passed around. He said he was taking e-mails for future meetings when we get teachers in Van. I gave my e-mail, but mentioned that we will likely talk on the forum, when/if there is another EE meeting.

Sorry I haven't replied back here thus far - I was on my feet every day since the meeting Thursday, and have just gotten home now to relax.

I had a wonderful time at the Eiriu Eolas meeting. Alana, thank you again for taking time out of your visit to organize the first Eiriu Eolas meeting in Vancouver!

One of the friends who attended I knew from my old workplace, who is pretty philosophical about life. Others are friends of mine I regularly go to weekly meditations with, and do a lot of similar spiritual growth-related activities (btw, since the meeting one of them's decided to try and convert to a paleolithic diet!). I know a bunch of other friends of mine who also expressed interest in the program, but were unable to make it due to scheduling conflicts. I was considering holding a meeting with them, to show them the DVD I got back in Edmonton and maybe demonstrate some of the breathing techniques, science behind it, and such. Alana said that would probably be okay, but I thought it would be best to state that on this forum and make sure it's alright.

Timotheos, sorry I wasn't able to get around quickly enough to ask you as well if you were interested. I was thinking that, since some of the others there were interested in teaching EE, in addition to being regular readers of SOTT, that we could organize a meeting once a month or once every 2 months somewhere and do EE. Another idea I thought of would be that, since the recommended reading list (http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=4718.msg31032#msg31032) for the topics discussed on this forum is very large and (I'm guessing) expensive, we could potentially share books in between EE meetings to cover more gaps in eachother's libraries. I got this idea from another poster in the forum (I'm at a loss where and from whom specifically I heard it, however).

To Laura, I understand your concern completely and will fully respect your wishest. In all truthfulness I was not even interested in touching the C's, as fascinating a topic as it is. We (or at least I) don't know enough or have done enough reading and research to be able to have fruitful enough conversations without supervision or at least guidance from more seasoned thinkers around the forum. That being said, I would be satisfied if we either kept potential conversations limited to books we're potentially sharing, to the EE we're potentially doing, to the weather, or to just this forum, if you wish. :)

Hi whitecoast, the point here is that this forum exists so people can connect and discuss things in a safe and secure environment - that is its purpose. Time and time again we have experienced situations in which people in different parts of the world take it upon themselves to 'form a local discussion group/book lending group/etc.' and time and time again it has resulted in energetic feeding and the blind leading the blind. The mechanical nature of man (and that includes everyone) ensures that it can go no other way. If you'd like to discuss things with people, please use the forum to do so - it is safe and secure and the perfect environment in which people can learn without risking becoming food or a feeder, even with the best of intentions.

I'm actually a little surprised that anyone would give you their name and phone number like that, considering that you had all just met. It is certainly a lack of vigilance on everyone's part. Did you present yourself as a representative of this work?

This thread is one of many discussions we've had on this very topic, in case it can lend some clarity.

Thank you, anart, for this reminder to me and everyone involved. I did not represent myself in any fashion other than as someone interested in EE and SOTT. I'll recant my suggestions and destroy the information volunteered to me. I apologize to everyone for potentially jeopardizing the safety of those involved, myself included. :(

I think it's a natural inclination, so it's understandable. We've just seen the result more times than we can shake a stick at, so we take steps to try to reduce danger, while still encouraging participation and interaction. It's a thin line to walk sometimes, but we try! Hopefully we'll have regular EE classes set up in Vancouver in the not too distant future, which will help fill that 'meeting' void a bit.

A new meeting is taking place in Edmonton next month. It will again be at the Strathcona library (since the space is gorgeous :) ), on August 2nd, at 6 pm:

This is an open invitation to all of you living in the area.

Hi Alana, it may be possible that an EE session has been held already in Calgary, perhaps i've missed this advertised? If not, is this something that has been discussed? Calgary is about a three hour drive and there are friend there that I can stay with.

Thanks for the open invitation to Edmonton, too - not sue if that would be possible at the moment. Also, wonderful that EE was brought to Vancouver; such a great place for its growth potential - good on all those involved :wow:

PS. very nice poster :)
