Everything About Keto Diet Website

I am curios what more stomach acid will do without increasing pepsin?

I don't know how it works to be honest, but I just checked my HCL pills and they have 150 mg of pepsin in them. It's the Now brand.

I ate fruit all the time for years and years thinking it was "natural" and healthy food but I was always hungry. I've read that fructose turns off your brain's "I'm full now" message so I have given up most fruit and all forms of sugar. I've lost 15 pounds and can now tell when I'm in fact hungry for the first time in decades. Mentally and emotionally I feel more awake and aware and creative and happy. . . . .

Here they also say that HCl without pepsin is not a good option : _http://scdlifestyle.com/2013/10/4-common-betaine-hcl-mistakes/

Perhaps we should do a version of this based on our research? For first timers coming to this forum this might be easier than reading a 50 page thread on diet :)
I'm willing to update _https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NcNHPKuI39PBtQrWCX_vzErswF46LE7SGbdL7zEqzew/edit to match, too. ~

i feel sad when i deprive myself of my sugar hit from it, it's very psychological, that's why i'm seeking help from hypno...

I know what you are talking about. :) My attempts venturing into Keto and staying Paleo are mainly thwarted exactly by the same. It was much easier to quit gluten and coffee, but sugar ... :scared: However I made a lot of progress by using Xylitol. This doesn't mean I am having heaps of it, on the contrary, but when there is a craving, a little Xylitol is a safer option to go. Have a look into the receipe section and you find fantastic ideas how to use it.

On another note, I am not sure if a hypnotherapist can help you, never tried it, but what I started is to monitor when these cravings come and I made some interesting observations. Sometimes when I feel depressed and need "consolation" (a program that already starts for most of us in childhood), but also when f.e. going from Project A to Project B, hitting an interval and have to take a kind of leap. What I do, is now, to smoke :cool2: It is funny, but identifying the underlying feelings already helps.

Also if you really stay Paleo for a longer time you get more energy, more life-force, so to say that make you feel less depressed and give you the energy to make the leap without the sugar. Just a couple of observations.

Thanks for links!

oooh You're onto something here, this sugar addiction thing is something deep set into our family, we didn't have much money and it was used as a rewards system, and I f I was given free reign as a child I would always be a glutton. Then when I seen my dad every second weekend he would buy my sister and I icecream and Mc Donald's and play with us and make us feel loved, this didn't happen at mum's house coz my step dad was/is a difficult person to know!
So now I see the correlation with my trigger for sugar and associated 'feel good' response. I'll spend more time considering this, thanks so much for bringing it to my attention.

I've tried various sugar replacements, xylitol, erythritol and stevia and they all make my tummy gurgly and unhappy, but that could be because I get excited and I am a piggy... I show no self control when it comes to sweet things yet having said that I've quit much bigger demons than sugar! or have I really, may be I just move from one vice to another..... hmmmm, so much to consider here!!!!!!!

Thank you immensely M.T., you've opened a can of worms for me and I just love freshly opened worm cans, there is so much to see in there!!!

Fluffy, with regards to the sugar issue (& giving it up) you might want to watch this video by Gary Taubes posted by Laura. You might find yourself wanting to give it when when you see the science behind the low carb, high fat (ketogenic diet). The Jeff Volek video is great too -he mentions a link between sugar & cancer. :scared:
And then there's also the candida connection too.

Thanks everyone, feeling like I need all the help I can get, you guys are all so supportive and full of great info. Much gratitude xx

On a sidenote: Lemon juice, and stevia in water make the best lemonade. There is no aftertaste.

Fluffy, you might feel some familiarity with this little video: "How to Magnetize a Baby."

Holy sweet Jesus! That video started out about magnetizing a baby, and then went on to point out that sugar is a drug, if you have a sweet tooth you're akin to a drug addict, sugar is in everything and is responsible for cancers and chronic illness. Again a great succinct video for those who will not read the literature (scientific) or books. I need to get my children off the sweets. I think I'll let them watch this :)

Here's a 60 minutes segment that is easy for anybody to understand:

Hmmmm, I cant completely relate to that :O
From the moment we are born we are sugar addicts, I suppose breast milk is wonderfully sweet so we get hooked and keep coming back for more. My 8 month old still feeds like a newborn, 10-12 times a day, she is magnetized like a sweet little crazy stalker, I can enter the room and she will start hooting Emma for me to pick her up, it's nuts, not sure she intentionally says my name, but it's ironic that she does!
I guess my dad magnetized me unknowingly in a very similar kind of way, I still get excited to see him for afternoon tea on Fridays.

I was just standing in the fridge eyeballing the dates (I just wanted to chew the end off one a little bit) but after much contemplation last night and ordering some digestive enzymes I've conjured up the will to give keto another go, so I chose some left over roast beef instead of a nibble on a date, then I sat down to my lap top on the bench to eat my meat and there was this very synchronistical (I just made that adjective up) video waiting for me to watch... Now it's all about discipline, noticing the triggers and probably lots of smoking.... on a very positive note my baby daughter love love loves to chew her meat and bones at dinner time so may be i won't have too much trouble instilling good food habits after she is weaned.

I can relate to your date "affliction" Fluffy. Sugar was the last thing for me to give up, and then it was proccessed sugar. Leaving me with dates. I would eat a whole package within a couple days. Thank God for stevia, and xylitol. It would have been hard to give up the dates without them.

By all means get these dates out of your fridge! :scared:
It's like a drug addict has some heroin on his shelf and now goes around it saying to himself: No, I won't have another shot, no I won't have another shot ... Get everything sugary out, but especially your worst triggers.

Also, maybe it would be better if you started with going Paleo instead of jumping into Keto all at once. I know everyone is different, but a couple of weeks Paleo weans you off stuff more subtle and you have more varieties of foods to eat (as we are programmed to do). I am by far not an expert, so if there are more knowledgeable folks here who want to contradict this approach please go ahead.
