Fatal Accident a Sign?

Wow! Thank the universe you got out of this one Redrock12. Glad you are not to badly hurt. Yes get that DMSO applied.

Wow Redrock12, that was shocking for sure, it is good that you have minimal injuries take care!!! :hug2:

Ditto! And speedy recovery, Redrock12!

This "coincidence", and the fact that the military was related, just reminded me that there was another story in the paper today. A young soldier was sent to Mali, and had to come back in an emergency. His wife was found dead, and nobody knows what happened yet. They had two children, 2 and 12 y.o.

There have been three more car accidents, two involving a dog being ran over, and one a 77 y.o. lady who was walking on a rarely frequented road and got hit by a car at night. She was picking up dandelions in a field at 9.30 pm. Go figure why! They found her the next morning, very disoriented and with a wound in her arm. That's a lot of accidents at once for this rural area.

I just caught up with this topic and wow! I don't know what to say except I'm glad the chateau crew and the members here are all relatively OK at the very least. I'm with Puck about the idea of a theme seemingly involved here because that's my impression also, but I hope I'm wrong about that!

Gosh, thanks everybody for your concern; I can probably take a lesson from this as well.

A correction to my last post. The driver was in the Yom Kippur War of '72-'73, not the Six Day War.

Regarding my aches and pains: they've all diminished significantly since this morning, so hopefully I'm over the worst of it. And with the exception of an anti-tetanus shot at the hospital, sans pain killers or anti-inflammatories. I think I can thank the round breathing and meditation for that.

Coincidence, or is the universe trying to tell me something.

Yeah, slow down! :lol: Seriously, I'm glad you're ok.

Also, on the way to our destination, there was a car upended in the ditch, and the thought struck me that maybe this is a sign that we should wait until road conditions were better. But obviously we didn't.

Maybe also, don't ignore your first thoughts and pay more attentions to signs around you?

Thank you for the admonition Mrs. Peel.

Adventure was definitely in the air. We knew there would be sections of highway that were treacherous, but like a couple of adolescents who think that "it won't happen to me" we opted for the thrill of challenging the universe. (We could easily have waited until road conditions improved.)

Well, guess who won? :lol:

It's gonna be a frosty Friday before I try that again!
Lesson learned.

Glad you're OK, Redrock12. And do be VERY careful, everyone. Seems something weird is "in the air?"

Oh my goodness Redrock! I'm so glad you and your friend were not seriously hurt. Speaking of car related issues, neema and I were on the freeway last night and we saw a camper on fire on one of the side roads next to the freeway. It was an intense fire with lots of smoke and not something you see everyday. But we don't know any other details about it.

Take care of yourself Redrock! :hug2:

Laura,

You wrote the below on Facebook in relation to the article on Sott.net that is here: http://www.sott.net/article/257904-Asteroid-cruise-ship-to-miss-Earth-Feb-15
This is the "closest shave" so far... for some years now, a couple times a year, we are told that a new one is coming or just went and it was the "closest ever". Ummm... what's next? "But the rock will come close enough to Earth's gravitational well so its orbit will be dramatically modified - after its near-Earth encounter, asteroid 2012 DA14′s orbital period around the sun will be shortened from 368 to 317 days."

Some associations came up in my mind pertaining to this thread:
- gravity well -> ditch
- orbit modified -> ditch changing trajectory of the car
- "closest shave" -> car stopping at telephone/power pole
- car -> bolide/asteroid

Very possible my imagination is running wild :-)

Redrock12: glad to hear you're in one piece. Stay safe.

Wow Redrock12! Considering what happened to you and your friend, it's absolutely amazing your alright and still 'here'. Do take care and pay attention to the signs. IE: Hazardous road conditions ;)

Fwiw- I live in quite a busy city and accidents are common. Yesterday though, on a routine trip to the local market, my partner and I witnessed two accidents. Both were within a 1/2 mile of each other, and both were minor rear-enders. Fortunately no one looked to be injured. (Of course the following day is always telling.) Driving past them both, the drivers in both accidents were picking up their rear bumpers and moving them out of the road way! It was like an episode of The Twilight Zone. Something definitely in the air. Seems there's also many distractions for drivers these days now more than ever.

Everyone take care! :cool:

Well, as far as I can see, everything's on the table until we get the next clue!

The telephone pole i.e. network/information/knowledge did stop it. At least that's what I thought of.

Anyway, take care Redrock!
