finally started on detox diet

I've started supplementation and the diet recently but also have been following the diet loosely for about two months. I just wanted to know if buckwheat groats and kasha are good for the detox/anti-candida diet? I couldn't find anything for or against their inclusion in the diet, but it seems they are high in magnesium, and I like the taste too. I was thinking about substituting this for oatmeal, which I was eating for breakfast sometimes. But Laura said that you want to avoid oats when doing the diet at first. I had Bob's Red Mill gluten free oats so I don't think they are a problem, but don't want to get any more if they mess up the diet.

Thanks for the valuable info Justin and Rabelais. I have been taking Magnesium Oxide; I had no idea that this kind of magnesium is not absorbed well. I will get the other kind, thank you.

so, now i know i can't drink the energy drinks anymore...guess why? F'in sucralose (and it's other forms) I honestly had no idea it was a form of splenda!!!

This is huge for me because now i realize that the majority of my depression was probably chemical, since sucralose is basically splenda!!! I'm not totally sure but I am 90% sure that the excitotoxins were what was causing me to become disinterested in my usual activities!! I would sit around and think theres no reason for me to be so bored, what the heck is wrong with me??? I'VE BEEN INGESTING CHEMICALS THAT KILL MY BRAIN CELLS!

This is very humbling and eye opening for me, there was a red flag right in front of my face and i couldn't even see it...this makes me feel stupid, dumb, and weak...I sit around thinking how other people can be so dumb and ignorant and the fact is that I am dumb and ignorant...maybe this post belongs in the swamp but the main point is that my diet was making me feel depressed, end of story.

But this is a GOOD THING. I wanted to know what was poisoning my body and i'm getting better at discerning as such. At least i can still smoke... :cool2:

Hi abstract,

From what you are writing, it seems that you really are making a lot of progress. Can you remember the first few days that you "strolled" in here and how far you've come since then? :) Learning is fun, isn't it?

Yeah, look at him! He's writing with capital letters and paragraphs!

Isn't it amazing how powerful detoxing and breathing can be???!!!

Indeed, and what is also amazing is that even through the fog of depression, a toxic body and dying brain cells, abstract was still able to recognise the value of Laura’s work. That really says something about the strength of the soul and why the control system tries so hard to immerse people in never-ending lies.

Keep up the good work, abstract!!

Thanks for the compliment, Vulcan, but I find it a bit of an overstatement, I've still got a lot of work to do, especially in the way of programs. Plus i'm not on a super strict diet just yet (hard to do without much money to buy food, right?) but I get paid this week so that's a matter of "time".

Honestly, with all the crap I've eaten over the years, it's really no wonder I always felt so horrible, why i could never think straight much, why I slowly became so unmotivated over the years...it makes sense now. I eat chemicals and they eat my brain!
The funny thing is, I've never accummalated fat, i've never been fat in the least! When I read that fat was inflammation it made sooo much sense why some people could diet themselves to pieces and still not lose weight. But still, if I've eaten so much junk growing up, how am I not fat and how have i even functioned with my nuerotransmitters all willy nilly?????

I'm also wanting to know about water, i'm wondering if anyone knows what brands i should avoid if i buy bottled water?? I'm really sick of drinking fluoride! (I instinctively hated toothpaste when i was younger, LOL)

You know what, mada85? You are right but at the time it didn't really seem like i was really doing anything "amazing" maybe I'll post a little story in another section of the forum. :)
One thing i will say about that though, is that I've always felt there was something deeply wrong with the world, even at a very young age I knew i didn't like this planet one bit. I have always wanted to escape our "prison" but did not have the will or the means to do so. It was abundantly clear what I needed to do when I had my lifelong, unconscious curiosities validated by so many sources.

Hi Abstract,

This post should partly answer your question.

Here's is the fluoride content of some other bottled waters (Figures from tests conducted by the Natural Resources Defense Council) :

Apollinaris Sparkling Mineral Water (1 liter)
Fluoride found at 0.37 ppm, below std.

Beechnut Water, Fluoride Added (1 gallon)
Fluoride found at 0.71 ppm

Black Mountain Fluoridated Water (1 gallon)
Fluoride found at 0.93 ppm (exceeds standard in warm areas)

Black Mountain Fluoridated Water
Fluoride found at 1.3 ppm (exceeds standard in warm areas)

Canada Dry (Sparklling Water)
Fluoride found at 0.13 ppm, well below std.

Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water
Fluoride found at 0.82 ppm

Gerber Baby Water with Fluoride (1.5 liter)
Fluoride found at 0.46 ppm, below standard

Lucky Seltzer Water (2 liters)
Fluoride found at 0.84 ppm

Odwalla Geothermal Natural Spring Water (1 liter)
Fluoride found at 1.5 ppm and 1.6 ppm

Opal Spring Water (1.5 liter)
Fluoride found at 0.16 ppm

S. Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water (1 liter)
Fluoride found at 0.37 ppm (below standard)

Safeway Drinking Water (1 gallon)
Fluoride found at 0.81 ppm (above standard in warm weather areas)

Safeway Select Club Soda (2 liter)
Fluoride found at 0.64 ppm, below std.

Safeway Select Seltzer Water (2 liter)
Fluoride found at 0.83 ppm* above warm weather std. for added fluoride

Safeway Spring Water (1 gallon)
Fluoride found at 0.28 ppm, below std.

Sahara Mountain Spring Water (1.5 liter)
Fluoride at 0.54 ppm

Schweppes Club Soda (1 liter)
Fluoride found at 0.13 ppm, well below standard

Schweppes Seltzer Water (1 liter)
Fluoride found at 0.28 ppm, well below standard

Shasta Sparkling Club Soda (2 liters)
Fluoride found at 0.19 ppm, well below standard

Volvic Natural Spring Water (1.5 liter)
Fluoride found at 0.17 ppm, well below standard

Also keep in mind that fluoride is not the only toxic component one finds in water. Here is a link to a table listing the concentration of some other pollutants foun in bottled water.

You might consider buying a water distiller. It produces a very pure water, there's no plastics bottling and the cumultaed cost are lower than buying bottled water. You can find such commodity for 100 dollars.

You know I was thinking that last week, it always puts a smile on my face when I see someone progressing (and boy do you seem to be getting there quick abstract). :)

A note on the distilled water, I've got my distiller but am not yet using it as I need a stainless steel (i.e. not plastic) bottle for storing it/taking it to work in.
Some other things I've picked up along the way to help reduce toxins.
Washing with plain soap (including your hair), have a search of the forum for shampoo. Not using fluoride toothpaste (or processed toothpaste in general as they tend to coat teeth in things (glycerin?) that stop them remineralising!!! not to mention how much of the chemicals you absorb through your mouth). Not using a fluoride toothpaste improved my energy quite a lot after one week.
Avoid teflon/nonstick saucepans/woks etc (have a search for teflon).

I've been having the detox berry shake in the mornings for breakfast for the last few months and I love it! Even though its cold weather here now I never bother to defrost the berries as its like having a berry slushy! :P

If anyone tells me that they have ironed out all their "bugs" and on a diet that is free of toxins, he/she is lying, period. It's hard work maan (sic). Ain't no short cuts. You can take that to the bank, so to speak.

Have a look at the discussion about water here. :)

I was thinking the same thing. It's quite remarkable. :D

In regards to water, I drink distilled water and really like it. You can generally buy it in grocery stores in the US pretty cheaply, though it does come in plastic bottles. It should have no fluoride at all. One thing about distilled water is that it has a particular taste, or lack thereof. Now that I’m accustomed to distilled water, regular water tastes bad to me probably due to the high mineral content. Since distilled water has this unique taste to it you can be sure that what you are getting is distilled just from the taste. With other types of bottled water, the manufacturer could, in theory, take any old disgusting pond water that has been filtered a bit and pass it off as whatever they are selling. This can’t be done with distilled water.

In addition to what was mentioned above, here a couple other things to keep in mind. These have been mentioned other places on the forum as well. Be aware that any kind of heated plastic coming into contact with food or water has a much higher potential to leach out plasticizers and all kinds of nasty petroleum-based chemicals. These are the toxins that are mostly fat-soluble so are particularly difficult to get rid of. So microwaves and plastics are no good. Same for coffee or hot beverages in plastic cups or mugs, or any hot food in a plastic container. Most coffee machines are made of plastic as are some parts of certain water distillers.

Once you start looking, you'll see that toxins are literally everywhere! Fixing your diet and drinking clean water are major steps though.

If you drink distilled water (we do and also have RO water) then put a tiny pinch of baking soda in a glass to alkalinize it.

As far as I understand, water devoid of all elements (distilled) is highly acidic. Your body than has to use (waste) lot of energy to rise the alkalinity. Best is mineral water. If you use distilled, make sure you alkalinize it. Pinch of baking soda, few drops of lemon or MMS will do the job.

Thanks for the information about the distilled water. My Naturopath recommended a 'Multi-Pure' water system because she said it is 'living water' vice everything taken out. Once I'm done reading about it, I'll post about the system she suggested.
