French presidential elections.

To put the results into perspective, approximatively:
If we considere the blank / null of the second tour in 2017 ; and the number of adults not registered to vote (2021),
They won each the following percentage of the population adult and with right to vote :

Aged to vote
Registered
Votes
Valid for one candidate
Not registered
6 %
Abstention
26,3 %
28,0 %
Blank
6,0 %
6,4 %
8,5 %
Null
2,1 %
2,2 %
3 %
Macron
34,6 %
36,8 %
51,3 %
58 %
Le Pen
25,0 %
26,6 %
37,2 %
42 %

At 8 p.m., the polling stations had closed. At 8 p.m. it could be reported that Macron had won the election against his opponent Le Pen with 57% of the votes. You can only report something like that live in the media if everything was already certain before the election.

I abhor this system to the deepest.

Riots against Macron's re-election:
"Police charge and tear gas at Chatelet in Paris to disperse protesters gathered following the announcement of the results of the presidential election."

"He's elected for 3 minutes and he's already hit us on the snout... 5 years …

"And that on election night is a first? 5 more years will be complicated for everyone"

"Firing of fireworks against the townhall of the 4th district in Lyon where municipal police officers were stationed."

Nearly third of Le Pen backers say French presidential election is rigged

"...a total of 70 per cent of Le Pen’s voters believed that it was possible to rig a French presidential election, the poll found. Among the electorate as a whole, the figure was 48 per cent."
