Frontier Internet Technician Clubs Miniature Schnauzer.

Would it be possible to place his pictures on somebody's Facebook account and see if the new face recognition "feature" auto tags it and identifies him? Use the PTB's tech for good.

I do not have a facebook account to try, but from reading about it--it might return a result.

Good idea James Henry! It's already on my Facebook page and hasn't been tagged yet...but I hvae no idea how long it would take their software to recognize him?

Hey Guardian, been lurkin the story and just wanted to offer a few lines of moral support. Really disturbing that some dude would club a defenseless pup and even more aggravating is the apparent impotence of the legal system in the face of straight up lies. I hope they charge that dude and give him the maximum penalty. He should also be prosecuted for perjury given that he gave knowingly false statements to an officer.

Anywho good luck and if there's anything else we can do def let us know.

EXACTLY, the story he came up with is physically impossible. Everyone at Thornhill heard the dogs barking before he had even parked...and their barking got louder and higher as he walked up to their house.

We have got to find out who this man is...or they can just transfer him to another area. I've gotten one email from someone who says he worked for Verizon before Frontier bought their NC accounts. S/he thinks the Tech's name MIGHT be "Chris?"

Anywho good luck and if there's anything else we can do def let us know.

Thank you! The Deputy in charge of the investigation will be back to work tomorrow, and we intend to be perched on the hood of his car when he goes on duty.

Pepper is going to be on the TV tonight...channel 13- WLOS

As promised the Deputy in charge of the investigation interviewed Gina and Nick this evening. Since they had rushed Pepper to the Vet they weren't here immediately after the incident when the Deputies arrived to give their statements.

The Deputy said he will talk to ADA Reid Taylor and then let us know whether or not he intends to charge the Frontier Tech with Animal Cruelty.

Moments after the Deputy left, a reporter and camera man from WLOS arrived to interview Gina and Nick. They also filmed Pepper who can come home at night now (instead of going to REACH) but she's still in VERY bad condition. She can't eat, walk, etc. and needs fluids during the day.

The story will air tonight at 10 pm our time. Hopefully all the attention will get her the justice she deserves.

Frontier Communications Technician Allegedly Beats Dog
"A Sylva family wants answers after a technician with Frontier Communications allegedly bludgeoned their dog with a test telphone last week. The technician was at their house on a call when the alleged incident happened. Gina Rarick said her 15 pound minature schnauser is recovering from a traumatic brain injury. She said her dog was tied up on a leash when the incident happened.

Frontier Communications calls the incident tragic. General Manager Ken Maxwell said the technican feels terrible about hurting the dog. The company is paying the vet bills. Maxwell said the company is doing an internal investigation into the incident. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is also investigating but have not said what charges, if any, will be filed against the technician."

Well, that's progress on the justice side - so far so good. I'm just hoping that Pepper will be okay. Our Sebastian jumped off the roof when he was a young fella and was hurt, though not bad enough to be unconscious, and he had seizures for months afterward.

When I clicked on that link, I didn't see have access to that video they shot. You didn't happen to record that, did you? :)

They don't appear to have video on their web site...at least not that I can find? We did tape it with and old VCr, but I'm not sure how to digitize it. I'm hoping I can find a program today where I can hook the VCR into the computer and convert it?

Yeah, but I've got a feeling the ADA is going to refuse to press charges against the Frontier guy. I could be wrong, but the DA's office has been protecting him from the gitgo.

I'm just hoping that Pepper will be okay. Our Sebastian jumped off the roof when he was a young fella and was hurt, though not bad enough to be unconscious, and he had seizures for months afterward.

Pepper was unconscious for three days, and the vet says there will be brain damage...we just don't know how much. The constant shaking and loss of balance could be permanent, it's too early to tell.

The link does have a video, it just takes awhile for it to load.

It is heartbreaking to see Pepper shake like that and this stonewalling from the DA's office is really frying my frijoles. It will be interesting to see if the perp has any connections once we get his name. Makes me sick to continue to hear that crap about how "sorry" he is about it.

Edit for clarification

Thanks April. Yes, I was finally able to see it today. That video of her (?) shaking is just pitiful! I know the answer to this, but what is wrong with people!?

Now that it's up Guardian, can you (or someone) snag it and maybe put it on youtube (or anything that allows for embedding)? If we share it on fb, maybe eventually it will go viral?

I still can't get over how cold the bastard was after he did it. Someone wrote a SOTT comment about me posting a "Mean Picture" of him...well that's just how he looked. Unfortunately, I couldn't run back in my house and get my camera until after the Deputies arrived, I didn't feel safe leaving him alone....but that's how he looked the whole time.

Pepper had a setback last night...she just went totally limp, which of course scared the bejezus out of her family. She wasn't exactly unconscious, her eyes were open, but she just stared. The Vet said it's a different type of seizure where she doesn't shake violently she just flops down, totally limp? She did come around in a few minutes, but she's VERY lethargic this morning. The vet is going to check for more swelling in her brain.

I keep telling Gina (and myself) "It's only been a week, and this is gonna take time"

I FINALLY got a copy (I think their video server was down yesterday?) now I'm just trying to figure where to put it. I guess Youtube is the next best choice to SOTT ;)

It was announced on WLOS 13 last night that the Frontier Tech is going to be charged with Animal Cruelty, but I'm not going announce he's been charged until we talk to the Magistrate today at 1 pm.

Evidently there's two ways he can be charged....either a "Summons" which is essentially a ticket, or an actual warrant, where he gets arrested and has to bail out. The magistrate will decide which to use today.

I'm also going to see if I can get a protective order that prevents him from coming onto the property. Everyone is on pins and needles wondering if he's going to go off his nut and come after us or our pets. I know a protective order won't prevent that, but it gives us a reason to call the law if he's seen coming up the driveway. We've also got monster truck positioned so we can use it to block the driveway very quickly.

We just don't know what someone like this will do? If he can be that violent with a tiny dog who was just barking at him, what's he gonna do when he's charged...and maybe fired as well?

Hi Guardian :-)

If he can be that violent with a tiny dog who was just barking at him, what's he gonna do when he's charged...and maybe fired as well?

I know exactly what you mean but I don't think you need worry. I mean, unless this guy is an unusually 'gifted' psychopath (or totally off his rocker) he probably feels as exposed as a snail pulled forcefully out of it's shell, a feeling that will get more intense if the whole issue goes to court and he is named. I imagine he's probably kicking himself for stupidly 'losing it' for a moment and making real those secretly violent thoughts that should be best kept hidden and not expressed in such a public fashion. The primary motivation of such a creature would be to find another rock to crawl under ASAP rather than to lash out and attack. Of course, I'm not saying you should relax your vigilance in any way but I'm sure it will all be ok... That's my reading of the situation and the guy's face and body language in the photos that you posted... a reading that is hopefully worth at least two cents.

Poor Pepper :( How is she doing?

That's what concerns me.....what this guy did makes NO logical sense, no matter how you look at it?

Poor Pepper :( How is she doing?

Her condition is up and down right now, one minute it's like she's getting better, and the next minute she just falls over. I guess it's just going to take time.

I'm very concerned for their four year old. He's too young to really express himself well, but he's acting out when he looks at Pepper. They're going to try to get him an appointment with a councilor that specializes in young children who've been traumatized.
