Hot weather the last weeks !!!!

We still can't quite get summer going here. We had a couple days where it got up to 36-38 C (97-100 F) but then, the clouds came and the rain and it cooled down to 10 C ... sorta warmed up a bit but it has continued to rain off and on, right now about 18 C. Supposed to keep raining and get down to 12 C in two days. Heck, this is JULY!!!

Same up here - the summer can't seem to get going and temperatures are well below 20 degrees Celsius, combined with still air - this still air has become more and more frequent. No wasps or bubmlebees so far either, for the first time that I have noticed.

A normal scandinavian summer. I like it like that.

Real Summer here, but far from record breaking temps in Croatia, thou very persistent hot for last two weeks 33-38C/91,4-100,4F with warm nights 20-25C/68-77F. My A/C is working all night otherwise I couldn't sleep at all.

One thing worth mentioning is Adriatic sea water temp. which is currently around 26-27C/78,8-80,6F and some north Adriatic places reported 29C/84,2F this morning. Average Summer temps. here on Croatian coast are around 23-24C/73,4-75,2F so water temp. is well over average. Its hard to get refreshment from swimming. Last weekend I had to dive 5-6m deep and hold for bottom rock in order to cool myself.

Today's forecast is calling for thunderstorms with hail this afternoon in my region, hope it'll bring some refreshment without hail storm like this one from Germany.

Well, yes, I don't like it when it gets above 27 either, the ol' norse blood boils and I get grumpy and distracted. But so far there hasn't been many days above 20 whatsoever, and that is a bit unusual - not really abnormal, but in the later years I take notice of the weather more than I used to.

Here in central NC, it was above 36 Celsius this past week and I couldn't stay outside for more than 5 minutes (I was born in Florida to which I was used to the hot weather but not like this). And, this week will keep at 35-37 Celsius. We get rain on and off without notice (but doesn't last for more than 30 minutes at a time).

No electricity where I am in NW Ohio since the storm that blasted through here last Friday June 28th. Down my street a wind gust of 91 mph was registered. I "hear" we may be back online by this weekend. Gonna be 100F / 38C today, 105F / 41C tomorrow and cooling down into the mid to upper 90s this weekend. Oh Boy!
Climate change? I think not.
Extreme weather event? Yep.
Which would be better, living in the hot desert or ice & snow?
Didn't the C's say that a cyclical climate change, Europe first, followed by North America?
One "good" thing is the daily barbecue.!.!.! :)

Oh, I forgot. No rain here. None of any importance. The grass is brown and crunches when I walk on it. Gawd knows how the farmers here feel. Some fellow on the radio around here called that Friday storm a hurricane with no rain.

Not good here in North Alabama, USA.
No rain, crunchy dry grass, failed crops and gardens and record breaking heat. I have to admit I'm nervous. There's a very depressed vibe here in this farming community as one could imagine. I'm certainly not looking forward to mid summer! I expect there will be power outages as demand increases. Good thing I was raised in an even hotter climate as I'm dealing with it well.
Still it's difficult to see the misery on so many faces. When I go outside to walk its like a ghost town, eerie, no sounds of farm machinery or children playing. Only the birds seem more active than ever for some reason. I had a dream that some cows were trying to tell me they were thirsty which was strange but I decided to make sure to fill some buckets for the wildlife as the creeks are dry also.

We installed a backup generator a couple of years ago (when we remodeled) after a 3 1/2 day winter power outage in 2009. It works -- we haven't had a significant power outage since, and we used to have them regularly!

Here in the Netherlands it's between 25 and 29 celcius, but no wind, it's quite annoying to go outside and sleeping is quite difficult. I can't even imagine how some of you must feel in that inferno, Especially at 41C :O

Our weather is back to normal in Sacramento.

Well, it was back to normal. It was cold and windy this morning. "Mostly cool" summers are not altogether unusual here, but this is pretty unusual.

I'm from the tropics and I have to tell you for me this heat is different. In the Caribbean, except for in the city with its concrete, at least we had breezes and afternoon sun showers that were refreshing. Here it's just stifling hot and still air and we are surrounded by trees. It just doesn't feel right.

Agreed, there is something in the aether it's vague, but there is something there that makes this period different. It just calls for acute attention to reality on my end.

I think what happened in Maryland was a big nor'easter followed by rapid "rebound" of an X-treme high-pressure ridge.

Sorta like 4D nuking a hole in the weather, then everything rushes back to fill in the void.

That storm definitely woke me up, and I was like I wonder what kinda crazy stuff is going on in 4D. ;) :D The light show was awesome though.

The storm didn't deliver any significant amount of rain either, but the grass here is still green and soft, probably because it is still relatively wild here, and I've been working on returning the land this house sits on back to nature.

Well I guess things are going wild there too seeing how climate is going crazy.

There is more activity where I live than ever before. We now regularly have violent storms and quite indeed very impressive 'light shows'. The way things are evolving now (here at least) shows a noticable diffrence year after year as opposed to let's say decade after decade like before.

Things are speeding up. Time is running short. The Wave is coming... and everything 'riding it'...

Living this moment in Centralamerica I can say that the heat of the last weeks was incredible although it wasn’t too high as you guys, I couldn’t sleep either in almost 3 weeks, until this week that we have a " tropical storm " so we have fresh air even raining but not too cold!!!! Around the noon we have an increase of the temperature but in the afternoon it gets little bit down, normally for this period -July -our season is raining, but for this year the weather is completely mad.

Supposedly, it was a "Derecho", a storm rather like a small, fast hurricane, which is moved along by a meandering Jet Stream. Supposed to be rare, but I expect they'll be a lot less rare now.

While you have cooler days we have hot days, but normally in this period our season supposed to be rainy and cold , but we still have hot and hot, we need more Rain for our sources of water to fill in, the storms that we had were so fast without much water leaving wet and muggy weather, as I said before we have a tropical storm here but not much rain and only fresh air!!!!
