I must euthanize Blacky, he is very sick

I am so sorry Loreta, this is never an easy decision, but it sounds like it is the best for Blacky right now. Take heart in knowing that for 4 years you gave him a home, a family, and lots of love, and that now you are choosing the appropriate way to end his suffering. And he departs having known a different/better way of living because you took him in. Big hugs to you, big hugs to Blacky, and may his transition be swift. :hug2:

I'm so terribly sorry to hear Loreta,

It's not an easy conclusion to reach by any means. I will keep you both in my thoughts. May you guys share beautiful moments for the time left. Big hugs!

Ditto to that Loreta.

And if it can help you, here's a reflection:

As others said, it is for the best. Big hug to you and Blacky, Loreta. :hug2:

 Such a difficult decision Loreta, sending virtual hugs and fellowship your way right now. :hug2:
I Love the little poem Gandalf posted! Bless your brave heart and take solace in the fact you rescued your sweet doggy and showed him love for the rest of his life. I am sure he appreciates everything you have done. :hug2:

I'm sorry to hear about this as well, Loreta, but it sounds like you've been a great mom to Blacky and it's best to relieve his suffering. :hug2:

As for getting him down the stairs, do you have anyone who can help you? Perhaps if you call your vet, they can give you advice or even send an assistant to help you transport him. Maybe they have a stretcher or gurney, too.

Edit: I reread your first post! I would still call the vet and see what they suggest. Perhaps a large kennel meant for transport, it you have or can afford one, or using towels as slings to help gently lift your dog, IF it's not too painful in his abdominal area. Regardless, I hope it works out with as little stress to him as possible.

I'm sorry Loreta! I know how hard it is, but is a powerful gift of love to help our furry friends along , and away from their suffering. Blacky was a very lucky dog to have you! :hug2:

:hug2: to you and Blacky.

You have given much and he back to you, Loreta. Our furry friends are with us for such a short time and are depended upon us; they trust us to take care of them. And you have and will be doing just that the best way you can, as painful as it is. This is our bond to them, our pledge, and they live in our hearts for all our time.

Sorry to hear this Loreta. It's a very hard decision but the right one I think. This way you will cancel his torture and help him to transition in peace and love that you gave him since you rescued him.
Take care, and be strong.

So very sorry to hear this Loreta, it’s a very hard decision to make but the right one under the circumstances. There is some consolation in knowing that in your caring for Blacky his life was enriched and he will have learned whatever it was he came here to learn with you. Big hugs to you. :hug2:

Oh Loreta, I agree with the following post whole-heartedly:

Loreta, I know how difficult this decision can be and I send you and Blacky a big hug. I think there comes a point when we know that despite our best efforts and our love, the final gift we can give our suffering pets is one of release.

In the past, when the time came to relieve my beloved animal companion of his or her suffering, my only regret now is that for some of them, I waited too long. You are brave and doing the right thing.
Big Hugs to you. :hug2:

So very sorry that this is happening, Loreta. From reading about Blacky in your posts, it's very obvious how much you love him, how courageous he is and how hard it will be to let him go. But, as others have said, and you, yourself have said, it's the right thing to do. He is not really "living", just existing. I am sure he knows how much you love him. Letting him go will end his suffering. At least he was able to have some quality time with you and was able to receive and enjoy the love you gave him.

I'm very sorry, Loreta! Will keep Blacky in my thoughts and wish him a peaceful journey. Your decision is the act of true courage, love and compassion. Big hugs to you! :hug2:

So sorry to hear of Blacky's sudden debilitating state Loreta, I still have the pictures in my mind that you first posted of him, such a beautiful dog, in nature too from your accounts. I'm sure you will have great comfort in knowing he loves you as much as you love him. You have given him a wonderful life in the last 4 years.

Hugs for both of you. :hug2: :hug2:
