About 10,000 Turks also marched from Israel's Consulate in Istanbul toward the city's main square, shouting slogans denouncing Israel. The protesters earlier Monday tried storm the Consulate building but were blocked by police.

In response, Israel advised its citizens Monday to avoid travel to Turkey and instructed those already there to keep a low profile and avoid crowded downtown areas.

The Israeli ambassadors in Sweden, Spain, Denmark and Greece were summoned for meetings, and the French foreign minister called for an investigation. Activists from all of those European countries were on board the flotilla. In neighboring Jordan, hundreds demonstrated in the capital Amman to protest the Israeli action and demand that their government breaks diplomatic relations with the Jewish state.

There will be a demonstration later this evening, I will attend it with a friend and document it.

According to a Turkish TV a list of some activists on board fell from the pocket of an Israeli soldier. Commenters said that this attack could be a planned assassination mission.

here is the video showing that list : http://www.internethaber.com/israil-bu-listeyle-basti-video-galerisi-2081.htm

I wonder if that list of people correspond to most of the people "shot in self-defense". That would be quite sicking, and from the current situation that is saying alot.

Good idea :) I wonder what kind of design will be most visible and convey the message best, any good ideas from anyone who have experience with this kind of thing?

Reports: Israeli ships attack aid flotilla, 2 dead

By TIA GOLDENBERG, Associated Press Writer Tia Goldenberg, Associated Press Writer – 59 mins ago

{snip}
Israel rejects claims of a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, saying it allows more than enough food and medicine into the territory. The Israelis also point to the bustling smuggling industry along Gaza's southern border with Egypt, which has managed to bring consumer goods, gasoline and livestock into the seaside strip.

_http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100531/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_israel_palestinians

Israel rejects the claims of a humanitarian crisis because they do not consider the long suffering Palestinians as human and claim they allow more than enough food and medicine into the territory because their goal is to starve them.

Ummm... didn't the Nazis say stuff like that about the Jews way back when?

Interestingly, at midnight, there was an attack on a sea military base in Iskenderun, near Syria border. Normally, Kurds attack further eastern parts of Turkey, so I found it a bit unusual, but not impossible. One wonders if it was Israel attacking. There is some speculation about this in Turkish media, but it is not confirmed.

Yes Biomiast, I find this suspicious too. 6 Soldiers dead and 7 wounded and it was a rocket attack.

Well, both the government and main opposition party picked up on that. Is there an agenda like going into war with Israel?

And, I think this time it will not be easy for Israel to prove its "innocence". As I follow the news, I can see how they give certain suggestions, converting half-truths into lies, claiming they were under attack etc. They may escape from the pressure of international community but Turkish government won't leave this alone. And with our Foreign Minister, Davutoğlu in charge, the response would be something big. What Israel can't see is, Turkey is not an enemy you would like to have with its huge army and people driven by religion. I am thinking about a war between Israel and Turkey in near future, I hope I am wrong.

Who do they think they are, there playing God all over the world. Bringing destruction, misery and pain everywhere. And now nobody is even reporting this? - There silents makes them just as guilty. If they can do this just right out into the open. I mean what takes it to stop them. In those old days, they had to perform there actions in silents. But now it seems there is no need for that anymore. NO!! the whole world is watching but hears or sees nothing. It's getting so ugly, it feels like I am not even breathing the same air as everyone else does. I don't get it anymore, what is there to stop them. - and I mean this realistic because the way how I am seeing it, nothing absolutely nothing can stop them, they are free and pleased to bring genocide on everyone. But hopefully, I am mistaking, Hopefully this time, the world will not ignore!

About 10,000 people gathered in Istanbul to protest Israel's military assault on a convoy of six humanitarian aid ships traveling to Gaza, The Associated Press reported.

The protesters earlier Monday tried storm the consulate building but were blocked by police. They later set Israeli flags on fire. Turkish television stations are broadcasting the protest live as thousands march to Taksim Square in central Istanbul.

Turks also protested the assault in the capital city of Ankara. Furious protesters shouted "Damn Israel" outside the residence of Israel's ambassador to Ankara, who was summoned for immediate talks as Turkey warned of "irreparable consequences" to bilateral ties.

Turkey's deputy prime minister said Turkey was withdrawing its ambassador to Israel, canceling three joint military exercises and calling on the U.N. Security Council to meet urgently over Israeli action against Gaza aid ships.

Bülent Arınç said Turkey was withdrawing its ambassador on Monday, saying that Israel's actions were equal to "piracy," The Associated Press reported.

I hope your hope comes true bjorn. But I am afraid Israel may/will (or at least try) convert this to a Islam vs. Israel conflict (with the help of the other psychopaths on some western governments and their media of course) although it's a Israel vs. humanity problem.

http://blogs.aljazeera.net/middle-east/2010/05/31/live-coverage-israels-flotilla-raid

Update, 1:59pm: The Israeli army has released its first official version of today's events, including an aerial video of the first commandos landing on the Mavi Marmara. The IDF statement says the commandos "first employed riot dispersal means, followed by live fire."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU12KW-XyZE
The video does clearly show activists attacking several of the soldiers landing on the ship. [no it does not clearly show this.../grim] One of them is thrown from the upper deck of the ship to the lower deck; another is attacked with some kind of metal pole.

But a few caveats: The video is grainy and sometimes hard to decipher, because it was shot at a distance. The text overlaid on the video influences your perception (as one Israeli journalist just remarked, "it helpfully explain what you're supposed to see").

And, of course, the clip only contains the footage the IDF wanted to release; we don't know what happened before or after this 60 seconds of video.

----

The video is heavily edited with at least 4 cuts, around 50 sec long (minus the intro). I wonder if that is all they could find that might sway perception of the event in their favor. This does not change the fact that they attacked a humanitarian mission on international water with machine-guns and heavy military support, killing 20 civilians.
