There’s also the rather striking fact that unlike nearly all political leaders, Putin didn’t want the job, he didn’t seek power. He’s a reluctant leader whose only true concern is the wellbeing of his people. That’s some seriously rarefied air! And with Xi Zinping sitting in the catbird seat of the global economy, all the power-hungry, would be despots can do is rage flaccidly. Of course that’s what makes them so damned dangerous. But if Russia were actually able, at least to some degree to interfere with or compromise the west’s ability to manifest an all out nuclear strike, they could just save this planet and everyone on it.
