Israel-Palestine War: Hamas Breaks Out of Gaza, Israel Responds With Genocide

The situation with JBP is almost tragic, sometime ago, at the start of his popularity, he posed a very interesting question: "When does the left go too far?", a question he had researched quite well and that he brought up as a valid discussion point. But now, it seems that he has forgotten about the other side of the coin, or is unable in this case to identify when the situation has gone too far, or maybe he's unwilling.

Indeed! I mean, I can understand if someone has an emotional reaction to an event like this, even if you don’t really understand what happened or believed the fake news, you try to be “empathetic” with people dying, that’s ok, at some point, but he went to a different level, he seems possessed, for real. Is not normal, his words even contradicts his adult life teachings and the way he handled the trans and women community that attacked him not long ago. It leaves you perplexed.

Investigating the recent front page story of 40 babies being beheaded by Hamas -

No one has put this into words yet, but the obvious ploy here is the one that's always used to vilify enemies - either portray or declare them as subhuman/animals, and then, there should be absolutely no objection whatsoever to exterminating them! And the screams for annihilation from well-known public figures is exactly the fuel for the fire to justify that extermination, no matter what the means.

Indeed. So many conservatives on X are just like that - almost as if they are possessed. Refuse to hear anything except the israel good Hamas bad dialogue, busy blocking anybody who in their eyes countenances killing women and children, and completely oblivious to the relentless Israeli slaughter of Palestinians. Sad but really quite an eye opener. People who could see through the Covid nonsense and the Ukraine nonsense, who understand just how debased MSM is, suddenly trusting every word they report. Ranting and raving about terrorists, wanting free speech suspended, anybody supporting Palestine deported. Just insane behaviour

I can't help but wonder... what's getting covered up with all of this? 5 days now of only seeing Israel/Hamas I have yet to see anything else that has hit my aggregate news feed

Perhaps if we follow the money we can notice other things happening behind the scenes. For example, on October 04 the 30-year U.S. Treasury yield posted its biggest quarterly jump in over ten years. Bond yields topped 5% while the German 10-year rate rose 3% a level not seen since 2011

The United States had a deplorable economic situation, its debt was at rock bottom, no one was buying bonds and it had to raise its yield, suddenly someone comes along and buys billions in U.S. debt bonds thus slowing the depreciation of its debt and the economy begins to stabilize. The dollar stabilized and gained strength in the global market.

Here is an example with the Mexican peso vs dollar.

Throughout the first eight months of the year, the Mexican peso strengthened significantly. From 19.5 pesos to the dollar at the beginning of January, it reached 16.7 pesos to the dollar at different points in July and August, and became known as the Super-peso.

As you can see in the graph at the end of September the peso was at $17 pesos to the dollar, then it suddenly jumps (october 4) to almost $18.5 pesos to the dollar.

IMG_20231011_215842_929.jpg

Sun Tzu would say that you don't go to war if you don't have a stable economy, right?

So, what does the US had to do to inject more dollars into the economy and above all to PRINT more dollars? Create an armed conflict.

If the conflict in Ukraine is no longer profitable, how could the Biden Administration show the numbers that show people that the economy is doing great in an election year?

Financial analysts mention that we may see that the US is benefiting from this crisis if US Treasury bonds start to lower their yields next week, but the value of the dollar strengthens.

Another hit for the Cs?

The C's said at one point that the fate of America was similar to that of Germany at the end of WW2 - hated by most all countries and peoples.

The United States will support Israel in all actions it takes against Hamas in Gaza after the killing of over 1,000 Israelis in Saturday's incursion, but this will set off an anti-US wave across the Middle East and the wider Muslim world, former US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chas Freeman told Sputnik.

Israel formally declared a state of war on Sunday, a day after Hamas invaded Israeli territory and committed the greatest slaughter of civilians in the 75 year history of the Jewish state. On Monday, Israel put the Gaza Strip under full blockade, with no food, gas or electricity supplies. Both Israel and Palestine have so far reported hundreds of dead and thousands of injured as a result of the escalation.

"The United States will support Israel reflexively but this will set off a much wider anti-US reaction across the Middle East and the wider Muslim world," Freeman, who also served as assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs in the Clinton administration, said in an interview.

The crisis is unlikely to be confined to Israel and Gaza and will metastasize to other neighboring countries, Freeman warned.

We're well on our way - and don't forget the Cs said the truth about 911 will be realized at some point, too.

Had some pretty bad experiences over the years with conservative right wing types, never trusted them really
. . In the sense that some could be derisive about others, like people on the fringes of society who they considered to be different, non mainstream or "alternative" types for want of better word. And they tended to look down on us, usually from their place of superior social and monetary status, so I've always had bit of a bias and have triggers against them tbh.. Especially from experiences with customers at work.

They weren't all like this. But Not surprised in a way how the right are reacting. It's still baffling to see people behave like this who you thought were able to see the truth though.. Seems it's going to cause a lot of unexpected divisions in society.

I just hope and pray that aid gets to Gaza, somehow.

I'm very very grateful for the forum here, it's keeping me sane, a place where people are sane in a world gone mad. Thank you

If I was an Israel supporter I’d be thinking very carefully about the things I’m posting online in the build-up to what could end up being regarded as one of history’s worst genocidal massacres. The internet doesn’t forget. What you’re tweeting today could haunt you for life.

The Israel-Palestine issue is not complicated; an apartheid regime abuses and oppresses an indigenous ethnic group who don’t have the same rights as others. The only reason anyone thinks it’s complicated is because they assume if it were simple, the news would’ve told them so.

Really Israel-Palestine is one of the easier conflicts to understand on the world stage; conflicts like Ukraine or Syria are much more complicated. It’s obvious at a glance that there’s one group in power and another group being treated very badly by that group, but because the press frames it as a complicated issue with its sympathies wildly slanted toward the apartheid regime, people assume it can’t be as simple as what it looks like at first glance.

It is, though. Israel is exactly the abusive apartheid regime it looks like on the surface. Remember this as the bodies pile up and Gaza is turned into a smoldering crater. This is exactly what it looks like.

[My bold of 1st paragraph]

Should someone send this to JBP?

This Is Exactly What It Looks Like
[excerpts]
Killing civilians with military explosives is not actually any more humane or civilized than killing them with firearms. They’ll cause gruesome injuries and slow, excruciating deaths by suffocation, burns and body trauma. They’re horrific weapons of mass murder.

The one and only reason you don’t see as much shock and horror in response to killing with military explosives as killing with firearms is because killing with military explosives is something you do from far away. When they show video clips of the buildings getting blown up, you’re not seeing the people being crushed to death underneath them and ripped apart in the blasts. It’s just a fun little sanitized clip of an explosion, like you’re watching an action movie or playing a video game.

It’s not actually any nicer than if the IDF were running around shooting civilians with rifles or running them through with swords, it’s just more detached, so it lets people psychologically compartmentalize away from what’s really happening.
It’s all about sedating the public to sleep and never startling them into a wakeful recognition of the ghastly things that are being done with the support of their government.
Cutting off Gaza’s electricity doesn’t just hurt the civilians who live there, it greatly hampers the world’s visibility into what’s happening in there. Think how much harder it’s going to be for people in Gaza to record and upload video footage to the internet now.

And that of course entirely by design. Israel has every incentive to impede visibility into its abuses, and it always has; that’s why it has an extensive track record of targeting and threatening journalists and media outlets.
It’s important to understand how completely un-monolithic Jews are on the issue of Israel and Zionism. The fiercest and most incisive critics of Israel I follow are all Jewish. Don’t let propagandists frame this as “Jew haters vs Jews” when it’s really justice vs injustice.

Superb article.

Gaza 'will soon be a tent city' says Israeli official as IDF launches 250 airstrikes in one hour into 'Nest of Terror' and 'infantry, artillery and 300,000 reservists' mass on the border 'ready to execute' ground offensive

Gaza will become a 'tent city' and every building will be razed, an Israeli defense official has vowed as the country's military lines up on the border.

In the early hours of Wednesday, Israeli forces conducted 250 airstrikes in just one hour across northern and eastern parts of the Gaza strip in revenge for Hamas' terror attacks.

Now an Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) spokesman said they are sending 'infantry, armoured soldiers, artillery corps', plus 300,000 reservists 'close to the Gaza Strip to execute the mission that we have been given by the Israeli government'.

Jonathan Conricus added: 'That is to make sure that Hamas at the end of this war won't have any military capabilities by which they can threaten or kill Israeli civilians.'

As Israelis living close to the border began to evacuate, there was fierce gun fighting between Border Guards and Hamas terrorists in the southern cities of Sderot and Ashkelon.

Wow - I sure hope it won't be confused with San Francisco or LA . . . and oh, btw - is that MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner still available?

Yes, it is disappointing that he has gone so far as to call for 'hell'.

I mean, we knew that Jordan Peterson has insight in some very specific topics, but not in other areas, because he also showed ignorance regarding Al-Assad and the Syrian conflict before, going along with the idea that he was a dictator butchering his own people, and so on. So, I didn't expect him to have a clue about Israel, yet, the problem is that he really is unhinged with warmongering comments instead of at least showing some restraint.

He could at least adopt a more moderate view, knowing that escalation isn't anyone's best interest... but no, he just continues to call for escalation, trashing whatever he said previously about truth, responsibility, humanism, etc.
The same situation happened with the plandemia and the "vaccines" when we saw and observed (and there are many articles that have dealt with this subject), to see with amazement that very cultured, intelligent people, with university studies, believed the lies as if it were pure truth, we know that, myself a friend doctor in computer science, my sister with university studies... frightened by covidian propaganda and vaccinated I do not know how many times! Intellectual intelligence has nothing to do with wisdom. JP may be an excellent teacher and all that, his wall may be full of university diplomas, but somehow he just doesn't get it - I think more and more that this plandemia and everything, did a crime, not just a physical crime but a mental crime on people that have been subjected to, i.e. brainwashing, to believe everything the PTB say without questioning anything, and this is the objective of totalitarianism.

Totalitarianism, I think, didn't just come for the covid. It came for everything else, including everything else they're going to want to do, and the first thing they do is wage war in people's brains.

The above is so weird in comparison to the rest of the carnage, that it makes me wonder what the heck happened, and how exactly this woman got "friendly and polite" terrorists. Because they were Muslims? What about the rest of Hamas soldiers? They were not Muslims? So who were they exactly? It's hard to speculate based only on this one weird example, but it does raise questions. What were they doing there for two hours instead of gong from house to house and killing?

It is especially strange because it happened in Kfar Aza (Gaza village), and there are a lot of horror stories from there. Only recently there was news about dozens of bodies of babies and children, adults and the elderly found there. Some were beheaded.

Here's another curious thing. Netanyahu in his recent speech compared Hamas to ISIS. Which is rather apt, especially, since in the past Haaretz mentioned close ties between Israel and armed Syrian opposition (read ISIS). The level of cruelty can also point toward the same "school of thought".

Very telling. Proxies everywhere.

One thing for peeps here following SOTT and others for decades, is the modus operandi of what is going on is there to see; with a few twists and turns and adjustments along the way. The points along the way, just in the last 20 years, are simply horrific.

The play right now on peoples minds is stunning to see - JP and so many others. There seems to be elements that the divides we have seen, carries with it the crowd with people easily falling into their belief slots of their social peers, and yet there are forces at work with big plans, reset plans, that never went away and perhaps are just beginning.

Paul Craig Roberts shines a bit of light here, and sneaks over to look at Israel Shahak's and Prof Michel Chossudovsky view:

The links of Hamas to Mossad and US intelligence have been acknowledged by Rep. Ron Paul in a statement to the U.S Congress: “Hamas Was Started by Israel”?

“You know Hamas, if you look at the history, you’ll find out that Hamas was encouraged and really started by Israel because they wanted Hamas to counteract Yasser Arafat… (Rep. Ron Paul, 2011)

What this statement entails is that Hamas is and remains “an intelligence asset”, namely “an “asset” which serves the interests of intelligence agencies.

And pretty much, it seems these assets have many faces, depending on the war-zone; with media, with costumes, directives and logistical support and mechanisms. Like always, there is a great deal of money involved changing hands.

So yes, they seem to be aiming at a slaughter in Palestine, and this time many in the world are united is clapping for the annihilation of a relatively defenseless imprisoned people.

Update and Analysis

{bold theirs}

On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.” which was led by its Military Chief Mohammed Deif. On that same day, Netanyahu confirmed a so-called “State of Readiness For War”. Israel has now (October 7, 2023) officially declared a new stage of its long war against the people of Palestine.
Military operations are invariably planned well in advance (See Netanyahu’s January 2023 statement below). Was “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm” a “surprise attack” ?
U.S. intelligence say they weren’t aware of an impending Hamas attack.
Did Netanyahu and his vast military and intelligence apparatus (Mossad et al) have foreknowledge of the Hamas attack which has resulted in countless deaths of Israelis and Palestinians.
Was a carefully formulated Israeli plan to wage an all out war against Palestinians envisaged prior to the launching by Hamas of “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm”? This was not a failure of Israeli Intelligence, as conveyed by the media. Quite the opposite.
Evidence and testimonies suggest that the Netanyahu government had foreknowledge of the actions of Hamas which have resulted in hundreds of Israeli and Palestinian deaths. And “They Let it Happen”:
“Hamas fired between 2-5 thousand rockets at Israel and hundreds of Israeli are dead, while dozens of Israelis were captured as prisoners of war. In the ensuing air response by Israel, hundreds of Palestinians were killed in Gaza.” (Stephen Sahiounie)
Following the Al Aqsa Storm Operation on October 7, Israel‘s defence minister described Palestinians as “human animals” and vowed to “act accordingly,” as fighter jets unleashed a massive bombing of the Gaza Strip” (Middle East Eye).
A complete blockade of the Gaza Strip was initiated on October 9, 2023 consisting in preventing and obstructing the importation of food, water, fuel, and essential commodities to 2.3 Million Palestinians. It’s an outright crime against humanity.
Was “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm” a “surprise attack”? Did Netanyahu and his vast military and intelligence apparatus (Mossad et al) have foreknowledge of the Hamas attack? Was it a false flag?

Netanyahu’s “New Stage” of “The Long War” against Palestine

Netanyahu’s stated objective, which constitutes a new stage in the 75 year old war (since Nakba, 1948, see below) against the people of Palestine is no longer predicated on “Apartheid” or “Separation”. This new stage –which is also directed against Israelis who want peace– consists in “total appropriation” as well as the outright exclusion of the Palestinian people from their homeland.

The current Netanyahu government is committed to the “Greater Israel” and the “Promised Land”, namely the biblical homeland of the Jews.

Benjamin Netanyahu is pressing ahead to formalize “Israel’s colonial project”, namely the appropriation of all Palestinian Lands.

His position defined below several months prior to the October 7, 2023 “State of Readiness For War” consists in total appropriation as well as the outright exclusion of the Palestinian people from their homeland:

“These are the basic lines of the national government headed by me: The Jewish people have an exclusive and unquestionable right to all areas of the Land of Israel. The government will promote and develop settlement in all parts of the Land of Israel — in the Galilee, the Negev, the Golan, Judea and Samaria.” (January 2023)

History: The Relationship between Mossad and Hamas

“Operation Al Acqsa Storm” (OAAS): Was Hamas acting on behalf of the People of Palestine?

What is the relationship between Mossad and Hamas? Is Hamas an “intelligence asset”? There is a long history.

Hamas (Harakat al-Muqawama al-Islamiyya) (Islamic Resistance Movement), was founded in 1987 by Sheik Ahmed Yassin. It was supported at the outset by Israeli intelligence as a means to weaken the Palestinian Authority:

“Thanks to Mossad, (Israel’s “Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks”), Hamas was allowed to reinforce its presence in the occupied territories. Meanwhile, Arafat’s Fatah Movement for National Liberation as well as the Palestinian Left were subjected to the most brutal form of repression and intimidation.

Let us not forget that it was Israel, which in fact created Hamas. According to Zeev Sternell, historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, “Israel thought that it was a smart ploy to push the Islamists against the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO)”. (L’Humanité, translated from French)

See also the WSJ (January 24, 2009) “How Israel helped to Spawn Hamas”.

Instead of trying to curb Gaza’s Islamists from the outset, says Mr. Cohen, Israel for years tolerated and, in some cases, encouraged them as a counterweight to the secular nationalists of the Palestine Liberation Organization and its dominant faction, Yasser Arafat’s Fatah. (WSJ, emphasis added)

The Nakba

Commemoration on May 13, 2023: The Nakba. 75 years ago on May 13, 1948. The Palestinian Catastrophe prevails. In a 2018 report, the United Nations stated that Gaza had become “unliveable”:
With an economy in free fall, 70 per cent youth unemployment, widely contaminated drinking water and a collapsed health care system, Gaza has become “unliveable”,[in 2018] according to the Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian Territories”
The above UN assessment dates back to 2018. Under Netanyahu, Israel is currently proceeding with the plan to annex large chunks of Palestinian territory “while keeping the Palestinian inhabitants in conditions of severe deprivation and isolation.

Creating conditions of extreme poverty and economic collapse constitute the means for triggering the expulsion and exodus of Palestinians from their homeland. It is part of the process of annexation.
“If the manoeuvre is successful, Israel will end up with all of the territories it conquered during the 1967 war, including all of the Golan Heights and Jerusalem and most of the Palestinian Territories, including the best sources of water and agricultural land.
The West Bank will find itself in the same situation as the Gaza strip, cut off from the outside world and surrounded by hostile Israeli military forces and Israeli settlements.” (South Front)
Human rights ended at the Palestinian border. The bought and paid for US Congress couldn’t genuflect enough:
“On July 19, 2023 the US Congress convened a special joint session for Israeli President Isaac Herzog. Both Democrats and Republicans bobbed up and down to applaud him 29 times.”

Introductory Text on “The Greater Israel Project”

by Michel Chossudovsky

The following document pertaining to the formation of “Greater Israel” constitutes the cornerstone of powerful Zionist factions within the current Netanyahu government, the Likud party, as well as within the Israeli military and intelligence establishment.
President Donald Trump had confirmed in January 2017 his support of Israel’s illegal settlements (including his opposition to UN Security Council Resolution 2334, pertaining to the illegality of the Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank). The Trump administration expressed its recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. And now the entire West Bank is being annexed to Israel.
Under the Biden administration, despite rhetorical shifts in the political narrative, Washington remains supportive of Israel plans to annex the entire Jordan River valley as well the illegal settlements in the West Bank.
Bear in mind: The Greater Israel design is not strictly a Zionist Project for the Middle East, it is an integral part of US foreign policy, its strategic objective is to extend US hegemony as well as fracture and balkanize the Middle East.

In this regard, Washington’s strategy consists in destabilizing and weakening regional economic powers in the Middle East including Turkey and Iran. This policy –which is consistent with the Greater Israel– is accompanied by a process of political fragmentation.
Since the Gulf war (1991), the Pentagon has contemplated the creation of a “Free Kurdistan” which would include the annexation of parts of Iraq, Syria and Iran as well as Turkey

“The New Middle East”: Unofficial US Military Academy Map by Lt. Col. Ralph Peters

According to the founding father of Zionism Theodore Herzl, “the area of the Jewish State stretches: “From the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates.” According to Rabbi Fischmann, “The Promised Land extends from the River of Egypt up to the Euphrates, it includes parts of Syria and Lebanon.”

1697089439013.png

When viewed in the current context, including the siege on Gaza, the Zionist Plan for the Middle East bears an intimate relationship to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the 2006 war on Lebanon, the 2011 war on Libya, the ongoing wars on Syria, Iraq and Yemen, not to mention the political crisis in Saudi Arabia.

The “Greater Israel” project consists in weakening and eventually fracturing neighboring Arab states as part of a US-Israeli expansionist project, with the support of NATO and Saudi Arabia. In this regard, the Saudi-Israeli rapprochement is from Netanyahu’s viewpoint a means to expanding Israel’s spheres of influence in the Middle East as well as confronting Iran. Needless to day, the “Greater Israel” project is consistent with America’s imperial design.

“Greater Israel” consists in an area extending from the Nile Valley to the Euphrates. According to Stephen Lendman,

A near-century ago, the World Zionist Organization’s plan for a Jewish state included:

• historic Palestine;

• South Lebanon up to Sidon and the Litani River;

• Syria’s Golan Heights, Hauran Plain and Deraa; and

• control of the Hijaz Railway from Deraa to Amman, Jordan as well as the Gulf of Aqaba.

Some Zionists wanted more – land from the Nile in the West to the Euphrates in the East, comprising Palestine, Lebanon, Western Syria and Southern Turkey.”

The Zionist project has supported the Jewish settlement movement. More broadly it involves a policy of excluding Palestinians from Palestine leading to the annexation of both the West Bank and Gaza to the State of Israel.

The Project of “Greater Israel” is to create a number of proxy States, which could include parts of Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, the Sinai, as well as parts of Iraq and Saudi Arabia. (See map).

According to Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya in a 2011 Global Research article, The Yinon Plan was a continuation of Britain’s colonial design in the Middle East:

“[The Yinon plan] is an Israeli strategic plan to ensure Israeli regional superiority. It insists and stipulates that Israel must reconfigure its geo-political environment through the balkanization of the surrounding Arab states into smaller and weaker states.

Israeli strategists viewed Iraq as their biggest strategic challenge from an Arab state. This is why Iraq was outlined as the centerpiece to the balkanization of the Middle East and the Arab World. In Iraq, on the basis of the concepts of the Yinon Plan, Israeli strategists have called for the division of Iraq into a Kurdish state and two Arab states, one for Shiite Muslims and the other for Sunni Muslims. The first step towards establishing this was a war between Iraq and Iran, which the Yinon Plan discusses.

The Atlantic, in 2008, and the U.S. military’s Armed Forces Journal, in 2006, both published widely circulated maps that closely followed the outline of the Yinon Plan. Aside from a divided Iraq, which the Biden Plan also calls for, the Yinon Plan calls for a divided Lebanon, Egypt, and Syria. The partitioning of Iran, Turkey, Somalia, and Pakistan also all fall into line with these views. The Yinon Plan also calls for dissolution in North Africa and forecasts it as starting from Egypt and then spilling over into Sudan, Libya, and the rest of the region.

“Greater Israel” would require the breaking up of the existing Arab states into small states.

“The plan operates on two essential premises. To survive, Israel must

1) become an imperial regional power, and

2) must effect the division of the whole area into small states by the dissolution of all existing Arab states.

Small here will depend on the ethnic or sectarian composition of each state. Consequently, the Zionist hope is that sectarian-based states become Israel’s satellites and, ironically, its source of moral legitimation… This is not a new idea, nor does it surface for the first time in Zionist strategic thinking. Indeed, fragmenting all Arab states into smaller units has been a recurrent theme.” (Yinon Plan, see below)

Viewed in this context, the US-NATO led wars on Syria and Iraq are part of the process of Israeli territorial expansion.

In this regard, the defeat of US sponsored terrorists (ISIS, Al Nusra) by Syrian Forces with the support of Russia, Iran and Hezbollah constitute a significant setback for Israel.

A double false flag?!!

The mass terror strikes in Israel this weekend should serve as a "wake up" call for Americans, according to former House speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.), who told the Washington Free Beacon in a wide-ranging interview that the chaos at the U.S. southern border could set the stage for a similar type of terror attack.

"We should wake up ourselves. We could have the same thing happen next week to us," McCarthy said. "We caught more people on the terrorist watchlist in February than we caught in the entire administration. We could have cells sitting inside of America right now."

Ben Bergquam: Border Patrol Confirms Significant Numbers Of Syrians And Pakistanis Pouring Into Arizona (VIDEO)

The border continues to be a major crisis for the U.S. One of the biggest concerns right now is the number of potential terrorists that are just walking into our nation thanks to the criminal Biden Regime.

Ben Bergquam was in Lukeville, Arizona this week to show just how bad it’s getting.

“This is today, and it will be like this tomorrow, and the next day and the next day and this is one point on our border and it’s like this across our entire border,” he said.

The footage shows a Border Patrol truck being used to transport the luggage of illegal aliens. They are taking away protective measures by turning our Border Patrol agents into porters!
These are truly alarming statistics. Americans should be very concerned about illegals pouring in from terrorist hotspots around the globe. - thegatewaypundit

Yeah, I'm starting to get a little uneasy - and Friday the 13th this week, if that means anything . . .
