JFK by L. Fletcher Prouty

Prouty provides tremendous insights as an insider living through those times, but ultimately he was one of the compartmentalised cogs of the machinery. I'm coming to the end of Douglass' JFK and the Unspeakable now... it trumps Prouty's JFK as THE definitive book on the conspiracy. Douglass' research is much like that other theologian's - David Ray Griffin - with respect to 9/11 - he not only thoroughly dismantles the official story, his research actually presents a pretty complete picture of how exactly JFK's assassination went down.

But Douglass' book isn't really angling for that honour - it leads us through the plotting and scheming to profound realisations about the Unspeakable that governs our world - what G called "the terror of situation."

Prouty focuses on what he knew - the implications of NSAM 263 and the Joint Chiefs' fear that Kennedy would thwart a full war theatre in Vietnam.

Douglass shows how this was just one of many instances in which Kennedy did battle with the Pigs of War surrounding him.

I'm so glad you mention "JFK and the Unspeakable" Kniall; I think it's the definitive book on the 1963 government coup. It gives motives and context and is the number one book I recommend. President Kennedy infuriated every special interest, greedy mogul and war monger by daring to work towards the public good rather than the private interests. He acted as though he was president of the people instead of wing man for wall street, and that sealed his fate.

In addition to withdrawing the US from Vietnam by the end of 2005 per NSAM #263 (mentioned in this thread)/McNamara-Taylor report, he wanted peace and open communication with Cuba and Russia--both Communist (the horror) countries with leaders who also wanted peace and trusted Kennedy), he was determined to levy fair taxes against the rich (in particular the oil industry which was/is under taxed, he was going to drop the murderous corrupt LBJ as his running mate in the next election, he fired three high level CIA spooks after the Bay of Pigs setup and wanted to dismantle the CIA, he wanted the gov't to issue loans to other countries instead of the World Bank/IMF, he took on big business and defended labor unions. The book that best describes JFK's posture towards big business is "Battling Wall Street." I would put that book in the top ten, with "JFK and the Unspeakable" at the top of course.

I think Prouty is a hero and I think his books are wonderful (if a little hard to read), especially for the overall context of Vietnam as others have noted in this thread. Still JFK and the Unspeakable--no other book comes close.

There is video of an excellent panel discussion with the author James Douglass, as well as Oliver Stone and Lisa Pease on youtube in five parts:

Must see TV.
We get an overview of this incredible book at the same time we get commentary from some of the best informed people in the field of JFK research.

Thanks for the links, but sorry to say, the google CC
translations are really, really bad and makes it very
frustrating to read what is actually being said...

Perhaps someone could take these videos and add the
subtitles... it could be of great import for those who can
benefit?

I second that! This evening as I was driving home I was thinking I should look to see if there are any online interviews with Douglass whilst I wait for his book to arrive. :D

i'm not sure if this belongs in here, but i just wanted to post it somewhere for reference.

i read a lenghty article in The New Yorker today called:
Paul Haggis vs. the Church of Scientology
(haggis is a writer/director who got out of scientology after 35 years)

_http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2011/02/14/110214fa_fact_wright?currentPage=1

on page 25 of 26 i stumbled upon this:

Davis [Tommy Davis, the chief spokesperson for the Church of Scientology International] acknowledged that some of Hubbard’s medical records did not appear to corroborate Hubbard’s version of events. But Scientology had culled other records that did confirm Hubbard’s story, including documents from the National Archives in St. Louis. The man who did the research, Davis said, was “Mr. X.”

Davis explained, “Anyone who saw ‘J.F.K.’ remembers a scene on the Mall where Kevin Costner’s character goes and meets with a man named Mr. X, who’s played by Donald Sutherland.” In the film, Mr. X is an embittered intelligence agent who explains that the Kennedy assassination was actually a coup staged by the military-industrial complex. In real life, Davis said, Mr. X was Colonel Leroy Fletcher Prouty, who had worked in the Office of Special Operations. (Oliver Stone, who directed “J.F.K.,” says that Mr. X was a composite character, based in part on Prouty.) In the eighties, Prouty worked as a consultant for Scientology.

“We finally got so frustrated with this point of conflicting medical records that we took all of Mr. Hubbard’s records to Fletcher Prouty,” Davis told me. “He actually solved the conundrum for us.” According to Davis, Prouty explained to the church representatives that, because Hubbard had an “intelligence background,” his records were subjected to a process known as “sheep-dipping.” Davis explained that this was military parlance for “what gets done to a set of records for an intelligence officer. And, essentially, they create two sets.” He said, “Fletcher Prouty basically issued an affidavit saying L. Ron Hubbard’s records were sheep-dipped.”
Prouty died in 2001.

now, i know better than to trust the word of the "chief spokesperson", but i found this info so out of left field, that i had to post it here.
i don't know if hubbard really had an "intelligence background", but it would make sense.

I'm glad the links are helpful to you Laura and Don.
I'm also glad they posted the entire session instead of just an excerpt.

dant I'll see if I can find a transcript.

dant would a transcript suffice if I can find, or create, one?

If I can't find a transcript and I create one would someone else be willing to subtitle the videos?

Yes, if you could, at least create the transcripts, you can
add it to this posting. Perhaps this is the easiest way?

As for someone to add the subtitles to the videos, some
one here has the skills to do this, but I am not sure if it
is necessary. Perhaps members here would need to voice
their support, for or against this extra effort?

Thank you for your kind offer, as it is appreciated!
Dan

I'll do that asap Dan.

Ya'll have written some good comments about these books; I hope you will put them on amazon reviews!!!

Good point. We need to promote the books that tell our real history. Thanks for the reminder.

I've been enjoying this thread and I just found this interview with Jim Douglass (58min) on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jacbZjouJ0&feature=related

The youtube channel is talkingsticktv and the link is below.

http://www.youtube.com/user/talkingsticktv

From watching the previously mentioned youtube presentation featuring Douglass, Lisa Peace and Oliver Stone, I was a little disappointed to see that Stone was still falling for the Assange schtick; all that desire to bring the US establishment to its knees is clearly part of the Mossad involvement on wikileaks, and most probably part of the ongoing drama regarding who will take the ultimate blame for 9-11 and the havoc wreaked since. It's what wikileaks doesn't reveal that is most revealing.

There was also a sense I got that the guests on the interview just hadn't considered the possibility that why the world has been mentally askew since WW2 as they surmised is because of the institutionalised psychopathy that has saturated all forms of culture gradually ever since. It's like waking up from the worst hangover of all time.
