Jordan Peterson: Gender Pronouns and Free Speech War

In the meantime, we’ll be going full force for PA, and keeping his message across his brand alive while he recovers.

I've been reading Stephen Jenkinson' book Die Wise, and have been thinking about how what people say and what they don't say when death is in the air can give an indication of their character or mindset, and also the circumstances of the life that is moving towards death.

In Mikhaila's case, her Dad is possibly dying - but she made sure to tell everyone she'll keep his brand alive? The business language seems to me like like a plea to investors and consumers to not withdraw from the family business venture. Maybe I'm being overly cynical, but if this is any indication of the Petersons' approach to life at this time, then keeping his brand alive is probably a major factor in what is draining his life force.

Good point about the brand comment, it's odd.. very odd to think of your dad's legacy as a brand. But it does kind of explain what happened to him, when he became ideologically possessed and started behaving predictably. He became so fixed in that position that he started to make the predictable blunders of someone on the right, and lost his connection with the people that made his "brand" valuable.

Sucks but there it is.

I think it’s pretty common for people to refer to their business as it relates to individual names as brands. It’s been a notable trend these past years. When people on the business side of big names talk with others in the running of their business I’d wager talking about their ‘brand’ is usual ‘business talk’. But she is talking to fans here not others in the business and that does show a disconnect when dealing with JPs serious health issues and possible death. She might be going through denial, maybe she is actually more concerned with his brand, or maybe she just isn’t that thoughtful or empathic. I’d give her the benefit of the doubt and a bit of room to process these things though as I’d imagine it is quite difficult and stressful for her and her family now.

To be fair, the way she worded it, she didn’t emphasise ‘brand’ and keeping his brand alive, she emphasised ‘message’, saying they’re going to keep the message across his brand alive, which could be interpreted as meaning that they’ll keep putting out content they think he would approve of across the reach of his internet and social media platforms.
