Jordan Peterson: Gender Pronouns and Free Speech War

Fasten your seatbelt!
Good grief, and as things move along in this current covid-chaos, the media circus is offering all sorts of priming of the social deconstructionism kind. People seem to be accepting the most wildest of social family concepts, not to mention economic new norms.

Speaking of chaos, JBP Weekly had this to say yesterday (the old cleaning the room reminder):

Cleaning Your Room and Organizing Your Psyche

Spring Cleaning, Hoarding, and Jung
So imagine you’re dealing with someone who’s hoarding. People who are hoarding are often older or neurologically damaged, or they have obsessive-compulsive disorder. But then you walk into their house, and there’s like 10,000 things in their house. There’s maybe a hundred boxes, and you open up a box, and in the box there’s some pens and some old passports, and some cheques, and their collection of silver dollars, and some hypodermic needles, and some dust, and, you know, a dead mouse, and there’s boxes and boxes and boxes like that in the house. It’s absolute chaos in there. Absolute chaos. Not order. Chaos.

And then you think, “Is that their house, or is that their being? Is that their mind?” And the answer is, “There’s no difference.
There’s no difference.

I could say, “Well, if you want to organize your psyche, you could start by organizing your room.” If that would be easier. Because maybe you’re a more concrete person, and you need something concrete to do. So you go clean up under your bed, and you make your bed, and you organize the papers on your desk.

And you think, well just exactly what are you organizing? Are you organizing the objective world, or are you organizing your field of being? Your field of total experience? And Jung believed that—and I think that there’s a Buddhist doctrine that’s sort of nested in there—at the highest level of psychological integration, there’s no difference between you and what you experience.

Not noticed earlier, JBP has announced a new grandson, Elliot Peterson :flowers:

And you think, well just exactly what are you organizing? Are you organizing the objective world, or are you organizing your field of being? Your field of total experience? And Jung believed that—and I think that there’s a Buddhist doctrine that’s sort of nested in there—at the highest level of psychological integration, there’s no difference between you and what you experience.

Sometimes you have a thought and it doesn't really deserve a whole thread, but this quote is relevant to something I've thought of recently. I was pondering the idea that, "It's your environment that counts." (determines perception and density). And I was thinking that the simple act of cleaning our local environment can have changes that are worth more than you realize. Not to say that it's life changing, but it must be something significant, if only a small step towards something.

Checking up on Rebel Media (RM), noticed an interview with an ex Canadian lawyer, titled below:

Canada’s only free speech prof Philip Slayton: Political correctness, Twitter mobs & the CBC

By Ezra Levant
June 05, 2020

The trained and practiced lawyer, Philip Slayton, has written a book Nothing Left to Lose: An Impolite Report on the State of Freedom in Canada.

RM adds a brief bio:

After studying law at Oxford University as a Manitoba Rhodes Scholar, Philip Slayton clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa. Then, for thirteen years, he pursued an academic career, teaching at McGill University and becoming dean of law at the University of Western Ontario. Philip then went into legal practice with a major Canadian law firm in Toronto, and worked on many of the biggest corporate and commercial transactions of the time. He retired from the practice of law in 2000.

The talk brings up ID Politics, makes reference to the state of mainstream media and their journalists, and the floor of learning, our universities, while having a look at the mob - people's (now mostly left in the social ID world) reverence for state authority to help inform and lead them, and the tools of social media that are at their fingertips (or thumbs) to help proliferate the message. It looks at the loss of critical thinking; shoved aside or squashed under the boots of the social 'I believe - and you can't challenge me and my tribe,' group think. To even think about challenging (as most on this thread know by what happened to JBP who did challenged) is asking for a firestorm from social media that has become the court of public opinion.

Thus, this talk has bearing on Canada, as can be seen from the title of his book (and Ezra's show), and yet it syncs with what is going on all over this globe. The talk is +30 minutes.

I've not read his book and know little of Slayton's background:

Everything JBP warned us about is still struggling as hard as it can to birth itself. -In spite of his monumental efforts to inform the world and his being one of the most compelling speakers with all-stops-pulled, wall-to-wall media coverage to assist...

It's amazing to think that such a profoundly effective speaker and personality failed to reach those who most needed it.

He provided a choice; those who have chosen the path of darkness did so with absolute intent and determinedly closed minds.

Social justice has become totally ridiculous and this in a way is a good thing. More people will be able to look through this nonsense. At least the sane ones left!

When I read this I could not avoid thinking it was satire, kind of The Onion or Babylon Bee.

Reading the comments below the tweet someone wrote it was satire. It looks like the original article is temporarily closed:

Searching in google I could find this:

It is very painful to confront one’s complicity in white supremacy, to understand how it contributes to a racist system that literally murders black and brown people while excluding them from “civil” white society.

This is an open letter from a white woman to all white women to let them know that it is necessary for them to do antiracism work, and that no matter how hurt they are about their own complicity, they must not take steps like ending their own lives. White suicides over discovering one’s complicity in murderous systems of racism, though, must be understood as political acts that recenter white suffering and distract from Black pain and Black suffering, which is just another form of white supremacy. So, fellow white people, stay alive and support us in antiracism work! Do not talk about your suicidal despair, and do not take your own lives, and recenter whiteness yet again. This isn’t about you.
This was at the bottom of the article.
This is not a genuine article. It is most of a lightly modified chapter from Robin DiAngelo’s bestselling book White Fragility, which makes this same callous argument almost verbatim about “white women’s tears.” The rapidly mainstreaming Theory (Critical Race Theory and Critical Whiteness Studies) upon which these ideas rest is sadistic. It does not allow people who adopt them to see suffering or pain outside of a very narrow range, and therein lies a tremendous threat for violence, hate, and destruction of all kinds.
So the seed comes from that book and skimming the amazon reviews is heartbreaking because it is full of 5 stars reviews buying into all this "white privilege" BS.

Just an example of a 5 stars:

I am a white pastor who is a part of a team that fights against racism within the church. Engaged in public education in Christian circles has been a sobering experience as white people hide behind their belief to support their fragility and prejudice. This book provided me with personal insight that I have never before encountered. The insight is that as a white man, I carry racism and the benefits of white privilege with me all the time. This understanding deepens my empathy and awareness when working with others from all social and racial backgrounds. I need to be consciously "less-white" and seek honest feedback from minority groups.
If you are interested in reconciliation and peace-making this book is for you. Be brave and look at yourself as you read it. DiAngelo has given the reader an opportunity for personal growth and insight. This book's insight is a big step toward white maturity and relational peace.

At least there are some good reviews (those rated as 1 star):

I find it amusing that at no point does the author consider the following possibility- that 'white people' do not react negatively to conversations about race per se, but that it is simply the way SHE has such conversations that upsets people. Since almost all the 'evidence' base for this book is entirely from the authors own experience.....the clear conclusion is that she just pisses people off when she gives her seminars. Should she be surprised that when you tell people that somehow they are not individuals and are a monolith driven by forces that they do not understand....but magically she DOES understand....that they will be pissed off?

Does she make any attempt to actually understand what people who have objected to 'conversations about race' are actually thinking and feeling....of course not because they are white so must all be thinking and feeling the same thing. After all, 'socialisation' is everything. Obviously everyone grows up and watches exactly the same films, listens to exactly the same music, has exactly the same interactions with teachers, different ethnic groups- and reacts in exactly the same way to all of these things- and its all because they are white that this happens. Jesus.

I would want to give the author the following advice: stop addressing people by their group identification, stop making assumptions about people that are unfounded and take responsibility to provide proper evidence for your assertions that consider critically different possible interpretations. If you do that, PEOPLE WILL STOP BEING ANGRY AT YOUR SEMINARS AND PRESENTATIONS. And they will actually listen. People get angry when you demean them, try to mislead them, make unfounded assumptions about them and do not listen to their perspective or give them the respect of feeling the need to justify properly your objections to their viewpoint. The vast majority of people, regardless of race, are happy to have conversations about it- if it is respectful and evidence based. Period.

Jordan Peterson seeks treatment in Serbia

The Canadian psychology professor Jordan Peterson is currently in Belgrade and undergoing treatments in an unnamed clinic in the Serbia’s capital, the weekly news magazine Nedeljnik can reveal.

His daughter Mikhaila is with him and spoke to Nedeljnik about his ongoing fight with the addiction to anti-anxiety medication.

We will be here for at least a couple of months”, Mikhaila told Nedeljnik in a wide-ranging interview in Belgrade that will be published in the next issue of Nedeljnik.

They flew in to Belgrade from Florida last week.

She said Mr Peterson was feeling better and that the family is satisfied with the first round of therapy.

Peterson’s family sought treatment for his “physical dependency” to benzodiazepine in Russia in February, after failed attempts in North America.

Peterson will make a video explaining the details of his ordeal in the next week, Mikhaila Peterson told Nedeljnik.

Peterson rose to fame in conservative circles in 2016 for opposing what calls “radical political correctness authoritarianism,” and his polarizing stances have drawn widespread controversy. He is estimated to have authored 50 books, including in the self-help genre, and sold more than 30 million copies.

His Daughter posted this on Facebook, June 12:
Happy birthday @jordan.b.peterson. I know the last year has been the most difficult year of your life. I also know that you’re going to take the next year by storm. The future is full of opportunity and hope and I’m so fortunate to be able to be there with you to experience it. Thank you for everything you’ve taught me - particularly to not feel sorry for yourself. Happy Birthday! Also... update coming soon 😊

If JBP is in Belgrade undergoing treatments, maybe he is visiting the "Swiss Medica Center", where they provide stem cell treatments with other rehabilitating therapies. ( I remember Laura visiting the same clinic some years ago.)

In Belgrade, Serbia, there is a brunch of Swiss Medica stem cell clinic, named IM Clinic.

In this hospital, we have the medical resources for inpatient treatment of a wide range of diseases and disorders. Patients here undergo full-scale therapy consisting of cell product introduction and rehabilitation therapies, such as IMR therapy, shockwave, laser and ultraviolet blood irradiation, plasmapheresis, extracorporeal spark wave, and others.

All of these methods help to improve regeneration and revascularization of damaged areas, allowing for the realization of better results in the treatment with cell products.

I think Peterson is being treated at this clinic - for an addiction disease.
Gold Quality Award in 2018 for that clinic

It is interesting that Peterson and Laura are coming to Serbia for treatment....
in which propaganda is spread about the collapse of the health care system and stimulates the departure of health care staff to Germany - a very long period and constantly!

Jordan looks great, he seems to have a spark back in his eyes!

Happy belated 🎂, Mr. Peterson!

Interestingly, Trump officially pulling out the Gender redefinition act of Obama and hopefully puts stop on the crazy stuff happened during last 4 year.s ( Govt. enforcement, forced sex changes, Woke crazyness, Advertisement agency taking sides, school student education etc.)

It is possible that Trump is doing this for elections, this will bring all the LGBT gang on to the street along with already existing Blacks. We will have to see the reaction.

The Trump administration will scrap ObamaCare's nondiscrimination protections for sex and gender identity under a final rule released Friday.

In a statement, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said the government's interpretation of sex discrimination will be based on "the plain meaning of the word 'sex' as male or female and as determined by biology."

According to HHS, the new policy makes clear that "the substantive protections prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, age, and sex remain in effect."

Happy belated 🎂, Mr. Peterson!
Do you guys wanna hear a couple of memories I have of JP?
The first time I met Jordan, was when he was a new born baby!
His Dad (Wally Peterson) was our Principal in my elementary school.
After Jordan was born, his Mom, she was our Librarian, brought him to school a couple times and I seem to remember that he was in a bassinet at our year end School Picnic.
They lived on School grounds, in apartments for the Teaching staff.

The next time I remember spending a bit of time with him, was when he was working at the local Grocery store.
Jordan worked there as grocery packer after school.
He was always pleasant, shy, but mannerly and nice.

It was late afternoon in January, a very cold and snowy winter day, I was VERY pregnant with my 2nd,(due in March) and I was transporting my 2 year old son on a pull snow sled.
After I paid for my groceries, Jordan carried the two bags of groceries out to the sled, and after asking me how far I was going, he insisted that he pull the sled with my 2 year old son and the groceries through the snow to my home.

He made sure we got in the house, carried the groceries in, and leaned the sled up against the wall, by the door.

This JP guy, even in his mid teens, like about 14 or 15, I think, was very observant, kind and chivalrous.
He was also a cute little baby.....;-D

I think Peterson is being treated at this clinic - for an addiction disease.

Thanks AzarHyun, that looks like the clinic he is more likely visiting. They have not received the "Gold Quality Award" for nothing: the clinic seems to have an impressive array of physical detox-methods and also they pay attention to the psychological features of addiction.

Interestingly, they also use ibogaine, which is a "natural" hallucinogen, like psilocybin and ayahuasca:

Treating addiction with Ibogaine- Addiction treatment hospital || Dr Vorobjev
Studies have shown that Ibogaine has exceptional potential in treating psychological addiction, and is particularly important as it helps to reduce the desire for opiates.

At Dr Vorobjev clinic, Ibogaine is used as one of the most essential individual procedures for treating psychological addiction but can also be combined with other reliable treatments that eliminate the desire for drugs.

Before each treatment, diagnosis and assessment of the physical and psychological condition of the patient are made. This allows creating the best treatment plan, tailored to each patient individually. Thanks to Ibogaine therapy, the treatment process is far more successful, and treatment results are exceptional.

Namely, Ibogaine is a natural hallucinogen that changes the addict’s perception. It reaches its full effect 45 minutes after administration and the active treatment lasts 6 hours, after which the patient is under 24-hour supervision of doctors and nurses on duty.

Ibogaine therapy is an essential part of the procedure at our clinic, as it increases the patient’s awareness of the consequences of addiction, and therefore facilitates the process of recovery and rehabilitation.

How does Ibogaine work?

Addiction is both mental and physical illness. Detoxification solves only the physical part of the problem, and the mental part is most effectively resolved using Ibogaine therapy. Relapse occurs most often due to psychological addiction, so the Ibogaine procedure is therefore crucial.

For the patient to receive Ibogaine therapy, his or her body needs to be previously detoxified, that is, traces of opiates must be removed entirely from the patient’s body.

Ibogaine
completely restarts the brain of addicts. Long-term use of the drug disrupts normal brain chemistry while Ibogaine manages to make patients “revive” suppressed and forgotten emotions and reaches the subconscious of the addict, helping him to see his life from another perspective. In this way, addicts can cope with suppressed traumas, which were possibly the “triggers” of addiction.

Ibogaine binds to chemical receptors in the brain and normalizes their activity. Thus, the chemical balance returns to its natural level, and the neurotransmitter functions, disturbed by the use of drugs, are regenerated. This type of recovery takes a more extended period without the use of Ibogaine, but thanks to it, the effect is achieved in a shorter period.

Benefits from treating psychological addiction with Ibogaine

Given it is natural substance, Ibogaine changes the state of self-awareness. During the addiction treatment procedure with Ibogaine, patients talk to a psychologist and experience a true understanding of their lives and change the perspective and way they understand themselves. They are able to realize all the negative aspects of the drug.

Ibogaine’s greatest advantage is that it helps to resolve the psychological symptoms of addiction, reduces the desire for drugs, and greatly affects success in recovery. That is precisely why Ibogaine treatment is essential for complete treatment of psychological addiction.

the experience of our patients confirms that the effect of Ibogaine is their most intense experience in life. It is important to note that at our clinic, we use only natural Ibogaine, pure hydrochloride.

An important aspect of Ibogaine therapy is that patients are able to see their problem completely objectively and realistically.

A person can see his life and perceive it fully for the first time, passing through the most diverse emotional states. In some situations, they feel guilty conscience for hurting dear people, and often they experience fears of the illness the drug can cause, at some point even visualizing their death. This is the turning point followed by the third phase when our experts, doctors, and psychologists help the patient to leave the drugs behind forever. One starts to see the difference between good and bad; life becomes precious and filled with the true values worth fighting for. We help people understand that they can start over and begin a normal and healthy life.

There was this research, where psilocybin was given to cancer patients with poor prognosis. The patients were understandably severely depressed and were afraid of dying. I think they were given a higher dose, so that it brought along a "mystical" experience. Afterwards, many expressed that it was one of the most significant experiences of their lives, they got out of their depression and did not fear death anymore.

"Objective: health" had an episode where microdosing of psychedelics was talked about:
Objective:Health #34 - The Healing Potential of Psychedelics -- Sott.net

In microdosing, you are supposed to take a minimal dose of the psychedelic every 3 days, for 10 times (James Fadiman protocol).
The doses are so tiny, that you should not get "high" and just reap the benefits: less depression, increased neurogenesis etc.
With larger doses, producing mystical experiences, just one or two sessions should be enough when used to treat patients.

Laura commented about psychedelics:

A number of these types of substances seem to be helpful in serious mental health situations, but the idiots that promote them as "spiritual insight" don't seem to have a clue that something that alters the brain chemistry THAT MUCH may easily alter it permanently if overused, and not in a good direction.

I've been reading about the ayahuasca; I think I'd trust the mushrooms before that stuff. A number of people have died from using it and it messes with some rather different brain chemicals in a somewhat different way. It can react against other substances in the body and cause serious crises.

I would say that medicinal/therapeutic use is reasonable in intractable cases but, as was already pointed out, there's no free lunch; it's not a "spiritual" experience, it's a brain chemistry modifying experience.

When JBP was on a book tour in Europe late 2018, I attended one of his talks. At the end, the audience could ask him questions, and one of the inquiries was how he viewed the use of psychedelics. His answer included the quote from Jung: "Beware of unearned wisdom". I remember his thoughts being similar to Laura's in this way. With psychedelics one gains insights, realizations and wisdoms, which have not been "earned", as in "there's no free lunch".

If ibogaine will be used with JBP, after all that he has been through in the recent years, perhaps he has "earned the wisdom".
