Great! When reading about Gurdjieff and the Work here in this forum, especially within these last few days and nights, I have really wanted to read "something other than online 3-4 page fragments" too. So, thanks. :)

Which section of the library is Gurdjieff in?

Also, did you find any Carlos Castaneda?

Sorry, looks as though I posted a bit of false info, although there are crazy amounts of texts in the site listed, after looking back, I actually got Gurdjieff from this site. Cheers. If you are still having trouble PM me, and I will send a copy to a newly created e-mail address for ya :)

NoChannelsOnMyTV and The_Seeker,

please read this thread where free books sites are discussed, and the forum's stance on the matter.

Hi Alana

Thanks for pointing us in the right direction of the 'Good Free Books' thread. :)

I am kind of embarassed about my enthusiasm when I wrote
myself a couple of hours ago said:
"Niiiiiiiiiice. Good links. I've favorited both"
now. :-[

It was lengthy and difficult to read through (especially the first half), but I feel now that it was definitely important for me to read.

I am currently in the process of taking the different angles of that thread into consideration.

Then I will probably go back to reading TTODJ. Not out of disrespect for what was said in the 'Good Free Books' thread or because I do not want to learn or do the 'Work', quite the opposite.

Very soon I will there in the book-stores with a list of 'items' that I am looking to buy.

I feel envious of everyone that has already read the material I am anxious to read and that is so high regarded here. To name a few: ISOTM and John Keel
I am looking forward to having those books in physical, bought and paid for formate to read. Its going to be great.

In the end I have to add some quotes to show those that say to themselves I am not going to read this a few quotes from the thread why it's good:

Maybe the problem is not if it is legal or not. After all, legality is subjective. The question is whenever the user of the book values or not the effort and hard work of the still living writer, and that's a question of will, of quality of being, and also of energy exchange as mentioned.

Monetary "energy" to pay back is one way, but that is not even enough in most cases. Another way is to really appreciate it, and share the information with others, recommend it, etc. Whatever helps you grow can help others grow too.

The more you get, the more you can give. It should always be a flowing kind of energy. We shouldn't take just for ourselves, but to apply the knowledge we receive so that we can give it to others who are also seeking it. Being thankful and never forgetting how lucky we are is a good reminder of how much we can do to "pay back".

A lot important points and interesting oppiniongs.

Re-reading the forum guidelines would be a good idea as well - just as a reminder and to make sure you caught it all the first time.

My go-to place for free books:
_http://www.sacred-texts.com/index.htm

The texts presented here are either original scans from books and articles clearly in the public domain, material which has been presented elsewhere on the Internet, or material included under fair use conditions in printed anthologies.

Many of the texts included here were originally posted in ftp archives or on bulletin boards before the growth of the World Wide Web and have been lost. In some cases, the texts were posted in such a form as to make them unusable by non-technically oriented users. Some of these texts were on the web at some point but have completely disappeared because the site they were posted on has closed. Thus the need for an archive which organizes this material in a persistent location.

It would also be highly useful to you both if you could read the thread Forum Personal Messages and Predators. Sending PM's to other forum members (no matter how nice they seem) is highly discouraged for the reason stated in that thread.

From now on I will post the above link when someone mentions PM.

Thanks WhiteBear.

I have just re-read through the link that discusses PM's, and although I do not necessarily agree, I understand the need for such thought processes to be discussed. [Mod: comment deleted since it violates forum guidelines]

I didn't know this forum was such a 'governed' place, it almost feels imposing.

I believe in free information though... It is up to those that actually want to use that information to do so. I have no inclination to offer anything other than exactly what I offered. Say what you will about emotional predators (and yes they DO exist) but it almost seems like I am being scolded for attempting to help. That seems a bit near sighted. No worries though, I will take the constructive criticism and follow it up with an anecdote from a wise man. Take it how you will ;)

THE THREE TRUTHS
"One day the Hoja took his carrying pole and rope and went to the bazaar looking for work. He joined a group of day laborers waiting to be hired, squatted down and hoped for a bit of luck. After a while a great lord came along and called out loudly, "I have bought a case of porcelain. To the one who will carry it home for me I will tell three incontrovertible truths."
No one paid any attention to him. The Hoja however, grew curious. "Money?" he thought. "There is always a way to earn it, but it doesn't happen every day to listen to three incontrovertible truths. If I carry the case for him I'll become more intelligent." He arose, picked up the case with his carrying pole and followed the lord toward his home.
As they walked, the Hoja very humbly asked the lord to speak. The lord replied, "Listen carefully. If somebody tells you that it is better to have an empty stomach than full one, you must absolutely not beilieve him."
"Wonderful!" exclaimed the Hoja. "And what is the second truth?"
"If somebody tells you that to go on foot is better than to go on horseback, at any cost you must not believe him."
"Right! So right!" said the Hoja. "It's such a pleasure to listen to such profound truths! And what is the third truth?"
"Listen," said the rich lord, "If somebody tells you that in this world there is somebody more idiotic than you, for heaven's sake you must not believe him."
The Hoja listened to him attentively, then suddenly opened the hand which was steadying his carrying pole and -- crash! -- the case burst open on the ground. Pointing to the broken pieces of porcelain, the Hoja said to the lord, "Listen, if somebody tells you that your porcelain has not broken, for heaven's sake you must not believe him!"

I now realize what the fuss was about, and I apologize. I will link sites as it has been instructed in the guidelines. Once again, I apologize for jumping to conclusions.

Hi The_Seeker,

Here's a question for you: If you had pdf copies of Laura's books (I'm not saying you do, this is only hypothetical), would you give them away free to people; knowing all the tireless hours, blood, sweat, and tears that went into them? Would you deprive others of the ability to give back to Laura, energetically compensating her for her life's work? I'm assuming the answer is "no"...

Now, take that same idea and apply it to other authors who may have a right to receive compensation for their hard-earned work. Do you see how wrong, unethical and unconscionable your reasoning is here?

There are exceptions where a book may be rare or out-of-print where trading a pdf would be appropriate, but these instances are rare. If one can find a book on Amazon or some bookstore for a reasonable price, one should be expected to purchase it, imo. Many are now in e-reader formats, so there should be no excuse.

Yes, this place is 'governed' so that it remains safe and protected for others to enjoy. If you don't like the rules, then there are plenty of other forums out there where you can give away your illegal files.

That means that you are not listening to the advice given to you, and just want to do whatever you want, breaking the forum rules along the way.

There are rules in place because we want all our guests on this forum to feel and be safe from predators of any type. There are however plenty of forums out there without any rules, and if you don't like this one, you can always choose from any other.

Upon entrance in this community, we ask that all new members read the Forum guidelines. They were also posted to you when you registered last November. So it is disingenuous of you to come now and say: "I didn't know this forum was such a 'governed' place, it almost feels imposing".

Again, from the forum guidelines:

You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any International or United States Federal law. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright or you have written consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also forbidden on this forum.

Again, you are not listening, and not even "taking the constructive criticism" offered to you. Are you sure you are here to learn?

You can't help unless you are able to listen first.
You can't learn unless you are able to listen first.

If you wish to continue as a member of this forum, The Seeker, please reread the forum guidelines, all the advice and links offered to you here. It is your right to re-examine your wish to participate in this forum if you don't agree with the rules. We don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable being here, if there are other places where he/she might be happier.

PS: I just read your latest reply :) I hope the above helps you understand better what this forum is about. It might also help you to re-examine why it is you reacted the way you did in this thread, and jumped to conclusions before you understood what the discussion was about.

To be as honest as my current limitations (which I am working on) allow, I am frustrated. Not with anyone here in particular other than myself. I know the linear time frame for the wave is closing in, and I am unprepared, and worried for those other possible me's out there. I stumbled across this treasure trove of knowledge that is your/our forum and news site not too long ago. I have been pushing myself to the limit to catch up knowledge wise and it is wearing on me. I am pissed off at all rules atm, basically because of all of the rules that exist around me. I see why the forum rules are in place, and I did not mean to rant or flame, but in all reality I am so "rough around the edges" that I know i feel it will take more time than I have left to move forward. And lets face it, I see the correct path, and the other path (which is apparently correct for other (me's/you's/us's) but it is hard for me. I have been a huge STS person my entire life, with only sprinkles of STO. I feel like consciousness is beginning to shift, as was said in the C's last transmission, and it hurts because I could have begun helping so long ago. I really dont want 4th Density Service to self, but I feel, as I'm worried my higher me feels, that I am not ready to go to 4D STO. I am worried I am going to recycle, and I am so unhappy here. Everyone is so mean, hurtful, and unhappy. And I am becoming those things. Way back when I was younger I felt like I had a good heart, I do not know if that is true anymore. I feel tainted per say. All (well most) my friends are STS (live with one of them) and I really hate them for it (which is wrong). I want the hierarchies to crumble and everyone to live communally, I want to be born into an existence with pre-existing laws that do not allow people to lie/cheat/steal/hurt/rape/kill ect... I just feel so emotionally burnt out it is taxing my very existence. I understand this may be part of the wave phenomenon.

I am simply asking from the mods and others, to try and understand where I am coming from and be patient with my well... ignorance in general. I kind of hate a lot about myself right now, and as easy as it may be to say I will change... it is actually really hard to try and stop a current 25ish year path and begin to curb it towards being understanding. Also I had a post deleted recently because well the mods were trying to protect me. But I really don't want that, I want to own up to a lot of things I know are wrong or backwards for where I want to be in a year. I am not sure if I was ready to take in all of this knowledge that the site has offered, and you all have offered, however i can already see changes both positive and negative. I am aware that the negative changes are because I have been lacking in the emotional development category, but this does not mean I am not making a concerted effort to raise my vibrational frequency.

I know none of the things I have said really relate to the post, but I feel as though they needed to be said. I grew up in a right wing, Ayn Rand reading, Gerorge Bush loving, dysfunctional family of very intelligent (business, government, Bullshit) people that really bought into the system and did somewhat well. I played video games and watched tv while other kids were outside, I played violent sports all the way through college and then joined the army, which I quickly got out of. There is just so much programming to get away from it is unrealistic.

I want to be and am getting better. I still have whole days of STS, however those days are diminishing. I still smoke pot (not afraid to incriminate myself here) but have cut down and am trying to re-introduce handling emotional situations again.

So if a post or two or ten come off as belligerent or opinionated or rude, I am truly and especially sorry. This is not who I really am, but instead a layer of frustration that is like a cancer eating away at my body and soul. I sometimes project, and am working on not doing that lol... hope you can empathize/resonate with this, after all at some level, I may be you on a path in your linear past, as far as we see it here on this planet.

Love Light and Humility,
The_Seeker

The seeker, i hear you and i understand you. And yes, time is short. But instead of feeling frustrated and feeling sorry for yourself for not being up to speed, use that energy to ACT. These are my suggestions:

1. Quit pot for good, NOW. Do not try, just quit it. It doesn't help you at all, in fact many of your mood instabilities and inabilities to control your emotions are most likely due to brain imbalances caused by it.
2. Start doing the EE program everyday, except for the BaHa (bioenergetic breathing) for the time being, because is contraindicated for people who are using substances that alter their brain chemistry.
3. Start the detox diet. Our bodies, minds and emotions are affected by what we eat. Read up on the sticky threads on the Diet & Health section, for more information. In this link you will find also the most important books to read on diet and health.
4. Start reading the "Big Five" books on Narcissism from the link of recommended reading, given above. They will help you understand your behavior now, how it came to be, and what you can do/observe in yourself, to change it.

If you are sincere, you can start with these. As Jedi Master Yoda says: Do, or do not. There is no 'try.' :)
