Miami Police Shoot, Kill Man Eating Another Man’s Face

They were trying to get attention for disaster preparedness and figured a good way to do that was to use a zombie theme since zombie movies are all the rage.

Yeah, that could be it, but I find it VERY odd they would post such a page when they've actually been studying a devastating "zombie disease" for several years now?

"Yet the WHO and CDC are not fully sure what is causing the illness, which cripples children and turns them into mindless, violence-prone zombies."

I don't find it beyond the realm of possibility that a parasite, virus, etc. which attacks the brain could turn people into violent "Zombies" and if it exists, you know the CDC is going to try to get a sample, and bring it to the US of course. Our government is also stupid enough to try an weaponize such a disease.

Of course the media/government is never going to tell us the truth, and the most recent attack will be blamed on drug use, whether it's true or not.

The rise in popularity of "Zombie" movies, games, etc. concerns me too...having that many people tossing the idea around in the collective consciousness can't be good?

FOUR cases??

Naked Man Mauled Up To 80 Percent Of Victim's Face During Attack: Official
The naked man shot dead off MacArthur Causeway after he was eating another man’s face was captured on The Miami Herald’s surveillance camera

Armando Aguilar, President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #20, said a man who was fatally shot by an officer had mauled up to 80 percent of another man's face in Miami.

Armando Aguilar, President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #20, said a man who was fatally shot by an officer had mauled up to 80 percent of another man's face in Miami.

A man was fatally shot by an officer as he mauled up to 80 percent of another man's face in Miami, the president of the Fraternal Order of Police told NBC 6 on Sunday.

Miami Fire Rescue said that man suffered trauma to his face and was bleeding heavily when they arrived. He was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he remained in serious condition, officials said.

"Seventy-five to 80 percent of his face was missing, and he was actually swallowing pieces of the man's face," said Armando Aguilar, President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #20.

Neither man nor the police officer have been identified. The attack occurred on a pedestrian bridge just off a MacArthur Causeway exit ramp on Saturday afternoon.

Parts of the confrontation were caught by The Miami Herald's surveillance camera, which overlooks the crime scene. A witness said he couldn't believe what he was seeing during the Saturday attack.

"He bite him here, here," said the witness who identified himself as Eric. He grabbed at his own cheek and neck to demonstrate.

The veteran Miami Police officer who responded told his superiors that he pointed a gun at the attacker, who was naked, and asked him to stop.

"He growled at him like a wild animal and kept eating at the man's face," Aguilar said.

City of Miami Police say the officer had no choice but to shoot the man. His wild behavior was symptomatic of excited delirium, Aguilar said. The disorder is usually drug-related and can incite violence, unexpected strength and even hyperthermia.

"Inside their body their organs are burning up alive. They've reached temperature where their actually burning up, and it actually makes them take off their clothes," Aguilar said.

The website exciteddelirium.org has uploaded video examples of people experts believe to be suffering from the disorder.

There have been four recent cases in Miami-Dade County including one with 21-year-old George Salgado, Aguilar said. In April, police said they had to use stun on Salgado because of his aggressive behavior. This 911 caller describes his encounter with Salgado to the operator.

"There's a naked man, and he's aggressive. He tore my clothes and tried to bite my neck,"
the caller said in Spanish. This medical report showed Salgado had taken three stamps of LSD.

But in Saturday's case, police believe the officer saved the man's life shooting the attacker before he could harm him even further.

"There's no doubt in my mind. The man would be dead right now," Aguilar said.

Police urged any residents that witnessed the incident to contact them at (305) 471-TIPS.

Maybe a case of possession induced by drugs?

Eugene, 31, is thought to have been high on a powerful form of LSD when he attacked another homeless man, ripping off chunks of the man’s flesh with his teeth.

Both men were naked at the time of the attack.

The unidentified victim is currently fighting for his life in intensive care at Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital hospital, after Eugene chewed off up to 80 per cent of his face, including his nose and eyes, in what hospital spokesperson called "some of the worst [injuries] staff had ever encountered."

Police were initially called to reports of two naked men fighting on the MacArthur Causeway bike path, which was packed with people heading to the annual Memorial Day hip hop festival at the time.

Witness Larry Vega told WSVN-TV in Miami, "The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him 'get off'...[but] the guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin."

Police initially repeatedly ordered Eugene to stop, but Mr Vega says he just “picked up his head and growled at the officer”.

Police then shot Eugene, but he carried on his attack, after which officers shot him several more times until he died.

Some wild speculation: Maybe this drug influences brain waves and gets people more into contact of 4D STS? Or whatever technology could further stimulate it of altering the brain in connection with drugs.

This is probably the third case I have heard about where someone gets naked and does some bizarre things. I've not heard of LSD ever being the culprit though. Most people on acid just stare at things for hours on end. Our friends husband had been taking bath salts and he ended up naked, drove his vehicle through a barn, tried to steal and horse, and was shot twice with a shotgun by the owner of the horse. The shotgun did not slow him down at all. So I am wondering if this fella was using bath salts as well. It seems to be a growing drug of choice and serious brain damage and severe delusional paranoia occurs from this stuff.

But what kind of salts are you talking about? Strange salts?

It is a synthetic chemical concoction not to be confused with normal bath salts i.e. Epsom. These were marketed as bath salts to skirt regulations but they are/were sold in tobacco and smoke shops and it supposedly gives a 'high' equivalent to or more intense than cocaine and crystal meth combined.

Wow. This seems to me very dangerous. I understand now how it can make someone going crazy.

If this is a new drug, this is just the beggining then.
I really had no idea.. the more we dig, the more insane this story gets!
However, is this just the drug, or there is "something in the air" that potentializes its effects?
Assuming that this is a drug indeed, and not anything even more weirder.

I'm not sure it's been conclusively demonstrated that it's a new drug, though I could be wrong.

I was just reading this, which is what ScottD refers to:

Miami cannibal may have been high on 'bath salts'

The naked man who savagely attacked another man in Miami and chewed most of his face off may have been under the influence of a powerful psychedelic drug.

Rudy Eugene, 31. was shot dead Saturday by an officer who discovered the gruesome scene at the foot of a highway off-ramp.

"He was ripping into his face with his teeth," said Larry Vega, who witnessed the ghoulish attack.

"He was ripping his skin, his neck. He had him held down. The guy couldn't move really, and he was just tearing into his flesh," Vega told WSVN TV in Miami.

Vega flagged down a police officer, who repeatedly ordered the assailant to stop and move away.

"The guy just stood his head up like that, with a piece of flesh in his mouth, and growled," Vega said.

The victim, identified by the Miami Herald as 65-yar-old Ronald Poppo, remained in critical condition, with about 80% of his face gone.

Police initially speculated Eugene had been in a "cocaine psychosis." But a doctor at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where Poppo is being treated, said Eugene might have been high on "bath salts."

The drug is a powerful combination of stimulants that causes agitation, psychosis, and stimulatory effects, according to Dr. Zane Horowitz of the Oregon Poison Center, in an interview on WebMD.com.

"But there's something more, something different that's causing these other extreme effects," Horowitz said.

The drug gets its name from the household product it resembles. Doctors have described effects ranging from delirium and elevated body temperature to extreme strength and violence.

"But right now, there's no test to pick up this drug," Horowitz said. "The only way we know if someone has taken them is if they tell you they have."

Sure, there are substances that can make people violent, paranoid, delusional, whatever, but to chew someone's face? What kind of substance is this?! It's unfathomable, it's just sick, sick, sick!
