'Missing 411', by David Paulides: Tracking unusual missing persons cases

I thought of the Missing 411 Western United States and Canada book the other day after a family member told me again about a strange experience they had at the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. In the book David Paulides mentions Del Norte County which is where this particular forest or state park is. I've been there before but it was more than 10 years ago.

Ok, I got the location wrong (after posting here I was talking to a family member again about it)..for some reason I was assuming they were at the state park in Del Norte County but they were actually about 35 miles South in the Big Tree area of the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park which is in neighboring Humboldt County.

How 1,600 People Went Missing from Our Public Lands Without a Trace

Snippet
After the September 11 attacks, Interior tried to build its own database to track law-enforcement actions across lands managed by the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Bureau of Indian Affairs. (The Forest Service is under the Department of Agriculture.) The result, the Incident Management Analysis and Reporting System, is a $50 million Database to Nowhere—last year, only 14 percent of the several hundred reportable incidents were entered into it. The system is so flawed that Fish and Wildlife has said no thanks and refuses to use it.
Skipping down
Paulides, an ex-cop from San Jose, California, is the founder of the North America Bigfoot Search. His obsession shifted from Sasquatch to missing persons when, he says, he was visited at his motel near an unnamed national park by two out-of-uniform rangers who claimed that something strange was going on with the number of people missing in America’s national parks.

David Paulides has a new interview on Youtube from May 6th, it's a lecture/ talk and was given to LA MUFON.

The first half is very interesting information I hadn't come across before, the research he has collected from native tribes is that bigfoot is a human type race. Apparently the tribes said this bigfoot race understood their native language. He also collected DNA evidence of bigfoot such as hair and blood and had them sent off to labs (without telling the labs what the samples were) and they reported that unlike human hair which is a complete strand of DNA, the DNA in the samples was broken up, if that makes sense, leaving the researchers very confused.

The latter half of the interview is just describing the Missing 411 cases already mentioned on the thread. Here's the full interview for anyone interested: David Paulides 2017 - Missing 411 - May 06, 2017

Thanks for the link!

From the link, Paulides discusses Ray Crowe's 'Track Record' publication, which they bought up his entire collection upon Ray's retirement. Paulides mentions looking up this collection, and on Goodreads it is highlighted as follows: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25958449-the-track-record

The Track Record: A Bigfoot Encyclopedia
by Ray Crowe (Editor), David Paulides (Editor), North America Bigfoot Search (Editor)

This is a CD containing over 3000 document pages that include photos, maps, research papers and much more. It also includes an 80 page word document that is a master index for the 16 years The Track Record was produced. This is the single greatest index in any cryptozoology book, CD, DVD, anything! You can spend weeks browsing the CD that we have produced.

The accumulation of Track Records is truly a Bigfoot Encyclopedia with an extensive cross reference via the index.

"The Track Record" was a monthly newsletter produced by Ray Crowe (Hillsboro, OR) over a 16-year time span, July 1991- August 2007. Ray did a fantastic job documenting various aspects of Bigfoot/ Sasquatch that will not appear anywhere else. Ray not only centered his work on Bigfoot/ Sasquatch, he also included stories on Yowie, Yeti, Almasti, Loch Ness Monster, UFO's, Chupacabras, etc. We know that you will find this as a centerpiece for all Bigfoot related research.

In 2007 North America Bigfoot Search (NABS) purchased the research, documents, writings, copyrights and trademarks associated with Ray Crowe and his two organizations. We immediately made a decision that the Track Record was an extremely valuable document for Bigfoot Researchers and we embarked on a path to put the newsletters on a CD for reference purposes. This project was completed in 2009.

The greatest contribution that NABS made to the Track Record was the development of an index for all of the newsletters. The index is 95,000 words and 80 pages in length. There is no other index in all of Cryptozoology that comes close to what NABS has established. Every major category, state, country and crypto subject is in the index.

The CD is PC and MAC compatible. (less)

Finished watching the 411 movie and recommend it. While this covers five cases, it focuses on the case of Deorr Kunz Jr. aged 2, who went missing in 2015 in Idaho. Emotionally moving and the movie brings a much more intimate view of the families and those surrounding them who are affected and you get to see the specific areas where people disappeared. David Paulides is heard in audio form, but it would've been nice to have included an interview with him.

Hi Jenn,

I tried to open the link but youtube says it's a private video and it's asking me for an access code of some sort. Has anyone else had such a problem, or knows the code?

The video is not available for me, too.

Couldn't find it either anymore. I started to listen to it when it was posted here and it is actually not a new podcast but an older one that was recorded when Paulides had only two of his 411 books out .

That's strange, it was labelled May 2017 so I just took it at face value, sorry for the confusion. I'll have a listen to the one Cleo posted when I get chance to see if it's what I listened to.
