Most definitely. In fact I have been working on some personal projects, that touch on research from here. I have formal training in Softimage, and have self-taught myself most of the other 3d software's out there that are relevant to 3D movie making. The most recent one is realflow which I am having lots of fun learning with.
I have helped Burma a little, but no where near the level he is doing.

As it stands, I'm pretty much a one-man-band when it comes to doing vids...though parallel (and a couple of other folks) has helped out with doing some 3D modeling for me. Thanks again, dude!
So maybe a good way to start would be for folks to introduce themselves and give some idea of what sort of expertise they have.
Burma, my man you are gonna burn yourself out. Just ask me what you need and ill help you out. If you need help also with AE just let me know, I actually know quite a bit, and thanks to Mr. Kramer can figure out anything else. I just prefer working with 3D packages.
Like I said before I have trained in Softimage, but that was only a part of my training. I officially graduated as a 3D Art Director. Meaning I have been trained to take a script and dissect it for concept development and storyboarding. Further developing the concept to a timing animatic for pre-editing, and from there distributing the workload efficiently for 3d animation development, post production and sfx (special effects). Over the years I have also taught myself most of the other aspects of 3d, where I can comfortably, model, animate, rig, texture, and work with node based creation, in most of the 3d packages. (with the exception of blender). But I'm always learning more. keeping updated on the relevant tutorial boards and 3d discussion boards.
As you can understand, I definitely prefer working on fully 3D projects, as opposed to live action. For one thing I have many years of training in the former, second thing is that I don't think live action productions with little or voluntary budgets achieve too good of a quality.
If there is interest in the fully 3D route, not only I can help with organizing and helping out with actual workload, but also I can help anyone learn or expand on knowledge about 3d animation. Like they say, if there is a will there is a way. And the best part is most of the big software's have learning editions that are free, and fully functional.

I'm a graphic designer and illustrator and I'm offering whatever help I can. POB and Away With Fairies have been accepting my graphics for the Everyman Radiǿ Podcast, and whatever I can offer you, just ask.
Looks like we already have a couple for the conceptual design stage. If we do go this route we will need more help especially with some voice acting.Alma.Innovadora said:Ammm... I could help make the drawings for the animation.
As for ideas well I have many, but one that came to mind recently due to the discussion started by Laura, is the Iliad & the odyssey. I love those stories and have always wanted to make a good 3D animation version of them.
I just want to take the combo of the classic & marvel comic version, and turn them into a 3D movie.
Check them out if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Well since this would be a tremendous challenge as a project, I was thinking first we would do a trial run on something smaller. That way we can go through a whole production run with everyone that is interested.
For this I was thinking about a story Atreides wrote a couple months ago.

With his permission of course, I think we could turn this story into a nice little animation. It has a good story, it is related to what we research here, and its plain darn funny. Also it gives me an opportunity to test out the voice-o-matic plug-in for Maya. Although I can do do this project myself, it is better to get more people involved to do a dry run for a larger project.
I also have plenty of spare time right know, and can start immediately working with anyone interested in such a project.
And if no one is interested and I have your permission Atreides, I'll go ahead and make that little clip as I think it would make a very popular YouTube video.
