first of all, India USA trade relations are not that big and it is only 10th by ranking. But, each nation interlinked with other nation mainly due to ever changing technology and ever changing needs of the population of their nation( aka foreign exchange needs). So this demand-supply thing is transient (often manufactured) sustained by credit and sentiment.

Trump wants to bring back manufacturing and it takes lot of time and willful hard work even one can print paper and whip up masses with 'Credit' system. A{Caesar}: I was wrong to think I could change the masses by example. Humans are fickle and self-centered for the most part.

Trump is trying , but that takes at least 10 years. With this Tariff thing he is trying to buy some time, which is also understandable and few things has to go his way. During his first term, he talked about 'Made in America', It took 2 or 3 years for seeing some 'Made in America' labels and even heard of exclusive Trade shows etc. It is some improvement.

His bombastic style and country's actual vulnerability is understood by every body. But, when we are talking of regime changes, we are talking about risk of being rejected by every body. Yes, one can manage the image, run the show ( or ran until now) behind the scene etc. But, those days are gone too. It's like a one last gig to resurrect lost empire. They couldn't win against Russia, couldn't keep the tariff imposed on China. So they fallen back on other one's.

This is from old 2008 session. Few things has changed since then - Trump's monkey wrench into deep state, losses in Ukraine, Quorum program change (i.e. they can change if they chose to) that saved Trump etc.

India offered to reduce it's tariff to zero, Trump rejected it saying it is 'too late'. So Tariff is only a cover for something other than a negotiation tactic or ego issue. In any case, Trump seems to have given up on India so fast saying 'lost India and Russia to Darkest China' when every body knows 'In multi-polarity, no body puts their all their eggs in the single basket'.

In any case, Modi set high standard of 'not keeping quite' to the terrorism activity that always comes with a risk of 'going out of control'. He managed the situation pretty well 2 times.

Mumbai on security alert: A threatening message was sent to Mumbai Traffic Control Room on its official WhatsApp number on Friday, September 5, warning about a series of bomb attacks planned for Ganesh Visarjan, according to a media reports.

Police said, “Traffic Police in Mumbai received threats over their official WhatsApp number. In the threat, a claim has been made that 34 'human bombs' have been planted in 34 vehicles across the city and the blast will shake entire Mumbai,” ANI reported.

Adding, that the message threatened to about explosion from 400 kgs of RDX, Mumbai Police stated, "The organisation, claiming to be 'Lashkar-e-Jihadi', says that 14 Pakistani terrorists have entered India. The threat message further states that 400 kgs of RDX will be used in the blast. Mumbai Police is alert and security across the state has been enhanced. All angles of the threat are being investigated."

Security measures have been increased and investigations are ongoing as 'Lashkar-e-Jihadi' is affiliated with a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation. To curtail the spread of misinformation and rumours, police appealed to Mumbai residents to not to believe in rumours and report any suspicious activity.

It is rumored that Russia wanted to promoted future prime minister Indira Gandhi and US wants to slow down India's attempt to create nuclear bomb to counter Chinese nuclear bomb. This did delay India making nuclear bomb by few years to 1973.

This incident was heavily publicized in India during the release of 2019 controversial documentary film 'Tashkent files'.

Modi who was normally very enthusiastic about hugging world leaders before, is avoiding meeting Trump for few months with one pretext or other. It is rumored that Modi is not even taking Trump's call. Reasons mentioned were -Trump constant bombastic proclamations of stopping Indo-Pak war (which is highly sensitive topic in India), Trump's flip flopping of tariff's and so on. But there is bigger trust issue brewing for a while. If one looks at Modi politics, it is highly unlikely that Modi will trust Trump or USA.
