OceanGate submarine disappears at bottom of ocean

Even the most advanced military submarines cannot communicate by radio unless they are very close to the surface. Since communication is impossible, the crew pays close attention to their mission schedule. And of course, you can't get GPS data. I believe they lost their bearings due to a technical malfunction in the dark and deep waters.

On german radio a guy was interviewed who went in the same boat to the same place a while ago as part of a scientific undertaking. He also knows some of the people who are currently in it personally. He said that there is not much space in there and that the people basically sit there and watch on a screen in front of them what the camera captures outside of the boat.

I personally would never go into such a submarine, even if I had the money. Most especially I wouldn’t go down just to „see“ the remnants of a tragic event such as the titanic. If it would be to see something like the marine life down there, or some scientific endeavor, I would be more inclined to do it. But even then the risk factor wouldn’t be worth it for me.

But people are different obviously and some decide to take that risk. Sometimes with tragic consequences, like we are seeing now.

More info in this tweet, unfortunately mostly bad news. I believe at this point in time - 7:35am EST - they are now out of oxygen

CONCLUSION from an 8 hour space on the TITANIC SUB with experts and friends of the passengers:

1. Most likely scenario is that the hull of the submersible imploded due to the brittle carbon fibre material, killing all 5 passengers within milliseconds

2. The second scenario is that the sub experienced a mechanical failure, so they manually released their ballast tanks and floated up. In this scenario, they would currently be floating above water. Some points:- This is unlikely as they should be spotted by now, even days ago, especially with all the equipment they have to be able to send out a signal.- If this is the case, it is not good news as they only have about 1-2 hours of oxygen left, and they cannot open up the hatch from the inside, meaning if they are not found within 1-2 hours, they would suffocate despite being above water (assuming all passengers are alive, because if some died for whatever reason, then the oxygen may last longer).

3. The CEO of the company OceanGate, who is also the pilot, is a risk-taker that has cut corners, most likely to make more money by cutting costs. Multiple reports by ex-employees, the CEO himself in past interviews, and 3rd parties point to the company being frugal and cutting corners when it comes to safety, which the CEO did NOT take seriously. This means the submersible was likely of low quality, which we can assume is what led to the implosion or the mechanical failure.

4. The last possible scenario, which is unlikely based on the facts we have, is that they are currently stuck at the Titanic wreckage or near it on the seabed. If that's the case, it would take hours to find them, and more hours to pull them out, which means they have almost zero chance of surviving. This, while unlikely, is the MOST HARROWING scenario, as it means they've spent days in freezing temperature, and will likely end up freezing or suffocating to death. Remember, the victims include a father and a son, so I STRONGLY hope this is not the case, and thankfully facts point that it is very unlikely.

CONCLUSION: The company should be sued if the reports of lack of quality control and the apparent lies on their website are accurate. The passengers are likely dead and did NOT go through days of suffering. I hope I'm wrong about everything and they are well and alive. Remember these are NOT my opinions, but those of a list of experts that joined our 8-hour Twitter space (link below in the comments). I've just summarized what I learned for your reference. Side note, there is reportedly only 1.5 HOURS OF OXYGEN LEFT. I was going to continue covering the story for another 1.5 hours but unfortunately the space suddenly crashed, so apologies to everyone.

Wow, all to watch it on a screen. I could understand the decision a bit more if it had a glass viewing panel. Likely done for bragging rights.

If I were in the situation (assuming it hasn’t imploded), at some point, before the worst things start, I would ask all on board if they would be in favor of ending our lives somehow. Maybe trying to make it implode, by damaging the window or something. Thereby facing a quick and much less painful death. Suffocation is just terrible.

If the submarine implodes I would expect pretty much nothing left of the submarine and the passengers.

I was thinking of some pill that they could take in a worst case scenario that would bring on death painlessly. Not sure that even exists.

And if the equipment is damaged, then those sitting in front of a non-working screen do not even know where they can be.
Torture for those who are claustrophobic.
Just reading this thread, I'm running out of air. What a horror! What were these people thinking? Didn't they do their homework before getting into this kind of thing? Once again, knowledge protects. And being a millionaire doesn't protect you from stupidity.

I think death in this situation means they're going to pass out?

I too find it strange that the media are talking about this tragedy with such effusiveness. I even thought it was part of their "distraction" plan, given that in Ukraine they're literally losing the game.

This story makes no sense and more and more I don't believe it.

Paying around 250,000 dollars to sit on the floor, to see rotting pieces of iron on a small screen when you can watch good documentaries on TV, who would do that? Sitting in a capsule, and for how long? And the food? And the washroom, which I've heard are there, and just a little curtain for privacy. This thing isn't a submarine. It's a capsule that even Cousteau wouldn't use. So you have to wonder if there really are people in this device, or if it's just a drama to get people's attention. They use this kind of story to manipulate and hold people's attention, they did it here in Spain with the story of a child who had fallen into a well. It's said that 40 million Spaniards followed the drama with a passion. It was all about this child, "the child in the well."

Sitting Japanese-style for how long? Does anyone know how long this expedition to the bottom of the sea was supposed to last? Did the passengers undergo a medical examination before being accepted for the trip? We're talking about going deep underwater, where the pressure is inconceivable.

It all sounds so strange, doesn't it?
